Dates and times for the Snettisham spectaculars 2014 - 201 5 For some of the wader spectaculars, and all the pink - footed goose spectaculars, the walk to or from the reserve may be in semi - darkness, so a small torch may be useful. Please DO NOT use the torch once you are on the beach as it may cause disturbance to the birds, particularly roosting pink - footed geese. The path may be wet, muddy and slippery in places. Please note this is a natural event, therefore we cannot guarantee the birds will perform every time but you can still enjoy the fresh air, l andscape and other wildlife of t he Wash. Numbers of birds present on the Wash fluctuate through the course of the year, greatest numbers generally being present from mid autumn to mid winter. The dates below should give you the best chance of seeing the whole spectacle. Our Birdwatchers tide table which lists the high tide times, can be purchased from the visitor centre at Titchwell for £1 or by sending a stamped address ed envelope and £1in stamps to: RSPB, Barn A, Home Farm Barns, Snettisham, King’s Lynn , Norfolk PE31 7PD. Our current tide table runs to Dec 2014. The 2015 tide table will be available in July 2015. Please specify which tide table you would like. Wader spectaculars The dates given have the best tides to maximise your chances of seeing the wader spectacular. The walk to the Wader Watchpoint and back to the car park is approximately 3 miles (5 km). The time given is when to leave the RSPB car park (not the time o f high tide) This allows you enough time to walk to the W ade r W atchpoint at a moderate pace to witness the spectacular in average conditions. Strong southerly winds slow down the incoming tide and can delay or exceptionally prevent the spectacular from occurring, waders may not fly into the lagoons if some of the mu dflats remain exposed . Winds from the north may cause the spectacular to occur earlier than expected.
