Parents as Partners

Yo

ur job

:

Communicate you know what you are doing.

Communicate both of you want students to succeed.

Communicate instruction occuring in your class.Slide6

Why Flip?

The problem:

All Texas students are required to take phyiscs. More time was needed in class to help with algebra, practice problem solving and complete labs.Slide7

Why Flip?

The solution:

Gain class time to work with students by moving the direct teach portion of the lesson home in the form of a video and note guide. Allowing student to get the help they need when they need it.Slide8

Why Flip?

Results:

More student-centered learning

Naturally differentiated class Improved class atmosphere

More student engagement

Improved benchmark scores

Slide9

Why Flip?

Lessons Learned:

Communication is essential

Everyone will need training

Need to define wha

t teaching is

there is a perception of “not teaching”
