LCHS Course Selection RecommendationsThe student should have a C average or better to advance to the next level. Student should seek current teacher’s recommendation before advancing to the next level.Communication with teachers, parents, and guidance counselors is key.Slide7

Graduation RequirementsIn order to graduate with an advanced diploma a student must have at least 3 years of one language or 2 years of 2 languages. For example, Dan takes Spanish 1, 2 and 3 and Stephanie takes Latin 1 and 2 and German 1 and 2. Both will receive advanced diplomas.

College RequirementsPlease know that some upper echelon schools (UVA, William and Mary) expect a minimum of 4 years of 1 language. Virginia state schools MUST accept ASL as a foreign language. Check for policies with out-of-state institutions before applying.Slide9
