259 million Opioid prescriptions are written each yearU.S. consumes over 80% of all opioids, but only makes up 5% of the world population.2016-CDC issued new guidelines for opioid narcotics for pain management in order to reduce the total amount of opioid prescriptions written each year. in 2015 over 67% of the overdose deaths nationwide were opiate related.
