A PARTY FOR ESTHER!!!!If you haven’t heard already, Esther McCoy has left the Herald Star after 37 years of service.Come celebrate with Esther on July 23rd @ 1:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds to celebrate her great work and dedication to Jefferson County and especially to Jefferson County Extension. She has always followed and reported on our programs, volunteered for judging and was an integral part in any benefit for the good of the OSU Extension Office. Esther truly helped “Make the Best Better”.We’ll miss you, Esther!!!!P.S.Something from the Fair Board…Come to “County Fair 101” to get all of your fair questions answered on June 25th @ 6:30 p.m. at the Schiappa Kitchen.If you have questions on any of the new rules, requirements, etc.for 2017, this informational question and answer session is for you! to be held at her home at 2216 St. Rt. 43 in Richmond. These classes will cover many topics concerning your rabbit project. These classes will be held on June 20

at the Fairgrounds and classes will continue until the fair. Classes start at 6:30 p.m.

Obedience classes

are being offered again this year by Shawna Wells at the Fairgrounds. Dog Obedience and Showmanship classes will

run every Monday

until August 7. No Classes on July 3

. Classes will be held from 7-8:00 p.m.

“Pattern Clinic”

will address the PAS patterns starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds for this event. Clinic will be open to the first 20 members who sign up, PLUS all PAS qualifiers. Please call the OSUE Office at 740.264.2212 to sign up. Camping will be available. Auditors welcome!

. As stated in your books, a portfolio of what you have made and learned is required to be brought to judging, as well as your completed and signed books.

BIG DEE’S BONUS BUCKS PROGRAM!!!We are asking that you participate in a great and easy way to support the Jefferson County 4-H Saddle Horse Committee. We are again participating with the Big Dee’s Bonus Bucks Program. With this program, 5% of your purchase goes into a fund for the Saddle Horse Committee with which we are then able to purchase merchandise for awards and prizes for 4-H horse members.When you make a purchase from Big Dee’s over the phone or on their website, you can tell them or enter the Code: JC4H and your are automatically registered. You only need to enter the code once and all your future purchases will be included in the program.

The Jr. Fair Theme for 2017 is “Jefferson County Fair, The Happy Fair…Here, We’re all about Youth!” The 4-H Theme for 2017 has been “4-H Free Style”. Hopefully, you can use your window decorating materials to decorate your booth.

2017 4-H Camp: June 21-14 at 4-H Camp Piedmont. See the enclosed flyer.New for 2017…The 4-H Committee is selling the 2017 Camp Shirt as a fund raiser toward adopting a cabin at Camp Piedmont. The cost of the shirt is $15.00. Please send a check, separate from your camp registration fee, which indicates your child’s name and t-shirt size. Sizes available are YM, YL, AS, AM, AL, AXL. T-shirts will be distributed during Camp Registration on June 21st.

STILL PROJECT JUDGING DAY…

is set for Saturday, July 15

th

at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The COUNTY RULE is that every 4-H member (not

) must take at least one project to a county judging event, i.e.

Skillathon

/Project Judging. Members with animal projects are required to attend

Skillathon

and

may

take their Still Projects to judging, also. Members with only Still Projects must take at least one of their projects to Judging on July 15

th

. If a member cannot make it to Project Judging Day, he/she must attend Make-Up Judging on July 25

th

at the Bantam Ridge Office. Appointments are mandatory for Make-Up Judging. Those attending Make-Up Judging cannot win in their project area nor can they attend the Ohio State Fair for that project.

Jr. Fair Board Meeting on June 25

@ 4:00 p.m. in the

Schiappa

Kitchen. This meeting is a “Meet and Greet” with the Jefferson County Sr. Fair Board who will be providing pizza for the meeting.

“County Fair 101”

informational session on this date at 6:30 p.m. after the Jr. Fair Board meeting.

SR. FAIR NEWS…

The Sr. Fair Board has decided that all youth showing cats and dogs will be issued a 1 day parking pass for the day of the show.

Grooming Rule…

No professional grooming of Jr. Fair animals for the Jr. Fair Shows. Grooming is limited to the Exhibitor, Cub advisor and immediate family. Family is defined as Exhibitor’s parents, grandparents and siblings, unless previously approved and designated in the Exhibitor’s “4-H Winning Plan” document.
