Why Nixon resigned

I

n

1974, President Richard M. Nixon resigns in the wake of the Watergate burglary scandal. He resigned because he lied about the Watergate scandal. He said he had nothing to do with it even though they were working for him to see what the democrats were doing during the presidential campaign. To avoid impeachment, he resigned.Slide6

Life after Nixon’s Presidency

he go-Nixon and his wife returned to their home in San Clemente, California, where they lived until moving to New York City in 1980. In 1981, they moved to northern Bergen County, New Jersey.

Write books-he wrote nine booksSlide7

Summary

What were his

greatest

strengths-Nixon’s 3 biggest achievements were –1 - Fully implementing desegregation of schools.2 - Ending Vietnam under acceptable circumstances.3 - Opening up relationships with Russia/China. Weaknesses- Watergate scandal Is he considered a good president, why or why not- I believe that Nixon is considered a bad president because of the Woodward addresses . In each case, it may be argued that the President failed to fulfill his oath in Article II, Section I, Clause VIII. In doing so, Nixon caused harm to the office of the presidency. He also lied that he was involved. He resigned his position August 9, 1974 before impeachment proceedings began.Slide8
