Draft release February 5, 2013 Sammy Rustles Up Marmalade Magic Ullswater ‘Steamers’ loveable mascot, Sammy the Squirrel, has been getting his paws a little sticky over the last few weeks and all thanks to marmalade making! Sammy has been working hard on his entries for the World’s Original Marmalade Festival at Dalemain, which is taking place on March 2 and 3. Handling all those Seville oranges and sugar is a difficult task for a red squirrel, but with a little help from hi s friends at Ullswater ‘Steamers’, he has managed it. Although there are some really interesting categories in the Marmalade Awards, there is no category for Red Squirrel - made marmalade, so Sammy has decided to enter the Novice Marmalade category. He wil l be telling children coming to see him at half term that they can enter a Children’s Marmalade category and have fun making their marmalade while they are not at school. Ullswater ‘Steamers’ marketing manager, Rachel Bell, says: “Sammy has really been wo rking hard on his marmalade and wants to impress the judges in the Marmalade Awards. His friend Paddington Bear will be coming along to see him soon, so he hopes his marmalade will tickle Paddington’s taste buds”. Sammy is now reminding everyone that a f abulous day out can be had by combining a lake cruise with Ullswater ‘Steamers’ with a visit to the Marmalade Festival at Dalemain, which is just a short drive away from the ‘Steamers’ pier at Pooley Bridge. March is a lovely time to sail on Ullswater, wi th spring in the air and everything coming back to life after the winter months.
