Dress Code for ALL Conferences:
At M’KIS, all “Delegates” (includes Officers, Chairs, Experts, Delegates, etc.) are expected to wear “
business-professional
” attire.
“For students, business professional dress is a conservative suit with the jacket and bottom pieces matching in both fabric and color. “
University of Texas at Austin, Career Services Division - Business Attire
While in actual UN sessions delegates are allowed to come in their national costume or military uniform, this is not allowed in the MUN programme. UN symbols are acceptable, however.
If a Delegate’s attire is deemed inappropriate by the Director or Advisors, the Delegate will be asked to leave the session and return with appropriate attire.Slide3
Male delegates
are expected to wear long-sleeve shirts, a tie, jacket, and trousers. Shirts should always be tucked in, buttoned up and sleeves rolled down. Delegates should wear dress shoes, preferably black or brown.
Female delegates
are expected to wear a dress (knee-length) or trousers/skirt (knee-length) with a dress shirt. Delegates should wear business-appropriate dress shoes, preferably black or brown, and no more than a 2 to 3-inch heel.
All
clothing must be conservative and appropriate (no tight, short, transparent or otherwise revealing clothing), and neutral solid colors are preferred (tan/brown, darker blue or green/olive, grey, black), though light colors are also acceptable (light blue, light pink, lavender). No denim or jean material of any kind.

Standard Attire for Men
Suits:
A suit always looks professional. Be sure to keep suits clean and wrinkle-free.
Also - you are GROWING TALLER. Be sure to check your suits periodically to see if your hems need adjusting (wrists and ankles), or you need a new size.Slide5
Tops
No t-shirts.
A collared/ buttoned shirt is appropriate. It should be long-sleeved.
A suit coat or sport jacket is necessary.

Bottoms
No jeans or shorts.
Slacks, preferably in dark colors, are appropriate.Slide7
Shoes
No sneakers or open-toe sandals.
Laced dress shoes are preferred.

No t-shirts. A blouse or other button-down shirt is appropriate.
NOTHING should be transparent.
We should not be able to see your bra or other undergarments.
Dresses and skirts are also appropriate, as long as they are not revealing and are knee-length. (Watch out for slits in dresses and skirts that go up too far.)Slide11Slide12Slide13

Wear Clothes that FIT
Dresses and skirts should fall smoothly on the body without riding up or having to be pulled down and adjusted constantly.
Clothes may be a fitted cut, but if they bunch up at all, they are too small.
You are GROWING. Like the boys, you may want to try things on that you don’t wear very often, as you may find they no longer fit properly.Slide15

Dresses can be worn, but be warned - finding one that is appropriate / business professional is harder to do, and often still utilizes a jacket.
Dresses often slip into the grey “business casual” area, or even into evening-wear.
Notice that all of these dresses are either long-sleeved, ¾-sleeved, or have a jacket. If you wear a “shell” or other dress that has no sleeves, plan to wear a jacket at ALL times.Slide17
A hint when shopping for multiple days of professional dress:
Try to buy a few neutral staples that can be mixed and matched throughout the week. For example, this whole week of clothes is comprised of 1 skirt, 1 jacket, 1 dress, and 2-3 blouses.
