Random Number Generation (RNG)
Background:
From Fall Creators Update, Windows 10 S relies on a
RNG value
from an EFI driver for “Switch to Pro” experience.
Guidance:
How to check RNG:
Upgrade to RS3 (don’t need to run “Switch to Pro”)
Run “
LicensingDiag
” from Start
Open the log (.cab file) & Open “WindowsPolicyData.xml” fileFind <policy name="FDE6DEB3-F790-48FF-8F27-43461944FD3E“>
If Result is “0xC004F012”, the device doesn’t support RNG ProtocolIf you can see binary info, not “0xC004F012”, the device support RNG Protocol. RNG

Windows 10 Pro means business
The most comprehensive security for your business
Windows 10 Pro devices are the most secure Windows devices ever built, delivering a multi-layered approach to protecting your business information, your customer data, your employees’ online identities and, ultimately, your reputation.
Best-in-class management that grows with your business
Windows 10 Pro makes it easier than ever to manage an often complex IT environment, including your devices, user identities, apps and policies. So you can confidently focus on doing what you best – running your business.
Get more done with the
most productive tools.
Windows 10 Pro gives a boost to your productivity: it helps you work faster, focus quickly on the task at hand, and access what you need, when you need it, from wherever you are. And all the while allowing you to work in a way that works best for you. Slide25

A new edition of Windows, with unique support for server grade hardware and designed to meet demanding needs of mission critical and compute intensive workloads
Expanded
hardware support
Handle demanding workloads by running Windows 10 Pro for Workstations with the support high end configurations including server grade Intel Xeon processors, up to 4 CPUs, and up to a massive 6TB of memory
Resilient
File System
Enhance the resilience and scalability of workstations by running Microsoft’s server grade Resilient File System (
ReFS
) designed for high fault tolerance and handling large data volumes
Faster file
sharing
SMB Direct facilitates file transfers between PCs and Servers with large datasets, all with high throughput, low latency, and low CPU usage
Persistent
memory
Enable demanding workloads to access important files at the speed of memory with high-end persistent memory hardware configurations
Windows 10 Pro for WorkstationsIntroducingSlide27
Resilient File System - ReFS
Feature Overview
Resilient File System (ReFS) is optimized for handling large data volume, automatically detects and corrects latent corruptions and much more. It protects your data with cloud-grade strength and with Storage Spaces.
When one of the mirrored drives corrupts data, then ReFS can use its integrity streams and a healthy copy of your data on the other drive to correct and protect your precious data.
Hardware Dependency
You need to have a system with multiple data drives.
How to Test
Please refer the document below.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/resilient-file-system
ConsiderationsReFS is for data disks, OS will boot from an NTFS disk.Slide28
Persistent Memory - NVDIMM-N
Feature Overview
Give your most demanding apps and data the performance they need with non-volatile memory modules (NVDIMM-N) hardware and Windows 10 Pro for Workstations. With NVDIMM-N, Windows 10 Pro Workstations enables you to read and write your files in the fastest speed possible, the speed of memory. Because NVDIMM-N is non-volatile memory, your files will still be there, even when your workstation is off.
Hardware Dependency
You need to have a system with non-volatile memory modules (NVDIMM-N) hardware.
How to Test
Combine compatible BIOS, Chipset, and NVDIMM-N parts, verify device is present as storage-class memory (SCM)
Partition and format the SCM
Repeatedly cycle power, write data – verify ADR implementation in the chipset and power supplySlide29
Faster File Sharing - SMB Direct
Feature Overview
SMB Direct supports the use of network adapters that have Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) capability. Network adapters that have RDMA can function at full speed with very low latency, while using very little CPU. This is ideal for IO intensive workloads for Workstation.
Hardware Dependency
You need to have a system with SMB devices with RDMA capable NIC’s.
How to Test
Please refer the document below.
https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj134210(v=ws.11).aspx#BKMK_test
Considerations
There are two types of RDMA, iWARP and RoCE. We strongly recommend iWARP NIC’s for client devices. Theoretically, all the NIC’s listed as RDMA capable, in the Windows Server Catalog should work.Slide30
Expanded Hardware Support
Feature Overview
Based on our customer feedback, we are expanding hardware support. Users will now be able to run Windows 10 Pro for Workstations on machines with up to 4 CPUs (todays limit of 2), and add memory up to 6TB (today limit of 2TB).
Hardware Dependency
You can use up to 4 CPUs and up to 6TB memory.
How to Test
Please confirm OS detect the # of CPUs and the size of Memory from Task Manager and Event Viewer.
Considerations
At the setup process, you might see a warning message “
The amount of free space on the selected partition is smaller than the xxx MB recommendation. We recommend making it at least xxx MB or select another partition
”. It is a clean install scenario, which doesn’t affect OEM scenario except for OEM testing. Please file a bug if you find any issues. Slide31

Build Workstations
System Requirement:
Preinstall on Intel Xeon and AMD Opteron system
Manufacturing Steps:
Install RS3 image with Pro OEM default key
Put the Workstations key in the BIOS (OA 3.0)
Repair Scenario:
Manage an RS3 Pro Workstation Image that includes the Pro Workstation Default key in the image
This will allow the user to boot directly to Workstation with a replaced MotherboardSlide34
