Cultural continuities and disruptions in Hellenic civilization in religion, commerce and art; history of the city of Athens. We will examine sites and artifacts that illustrate connections between the Aegean Peninsula and its islands, with North Africa and the Near East, from ca. 2300 BCE-1450 CE, with supplementary primary and secondary source readings. Travel to major archaeological sites and museums on the mainland and one island (Athens, Delphi,

Peiraeus

Itinerary and schedule

March 11 depart U.S. (Friday)March 12 arrive at Hellenikon Airport, Athens, by 4 p.m. local time. Depart on bus with Section One for Delphi (Saturday). Overnight in DelphiMarch 13 visit the Sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi and the Delphi Museum. Section One returns to Athens (Sunday) Stay in Athens until March 20, when return to U.S. (Sunday

March 14-17 we will visit sites in and around Athens, one day to include travel by boat to the island of Aegina.
