The Yellow Belly Slider is native to the south eastern part of the U.S.The outspread migration of this species to other parts of the U.S was caused by pet releases and escape from stores and restaurants.
Pet releases of the Yellow Belly Slider was more common in 1930 during the show Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles release.

The Slider is a omnivore as it eats both meat and vegetables.In the Sliders youth they tend to be completely carnivores as they feast on things such as spiders, insects, small fish, tadpoles, and etc.
As the Slider grows its diet moves to a more vegetarian diet to where 95% of its nutrient comes from plants

Yellow Belly Sliders are commonly kept as pets in many area, that actually one of the main reasons they became an invasive species. Care for a Slider is the same as other turtles species.
The owner should feed the turtle a mix of plants and insects while washing its bowl commonly.
