Among the famous du`as to be recited on A'ráfah day is the du`a of Imam Husayn (á

). Bushr and Bashir, the sons of Ghalib Asadi, have said that they were in the presence of the Imam (á) in the late afternoon on the Day of A'ráfah on the plains of `Arafat. The Imam came out of his tent along with a group of followers and some of his family members including his sons, while he was extremely humble and tenderhearted. They stood on the left side of the mountain; then they faced the qiblah, held their hands before their faces, palms upward in the gesture of begging, and recited this du`a:

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

O Allah, (please do) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad

allahumma salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadinSlide4

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bismillahi alrrahmini alrrahimiSlide5

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي لَيْسَ لِقَضَائِهِ دَافِعٌ

Praise be to Allah Whose determination cannot be repelled by anything,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alhamdu lillahi alladhi laysa liqada'ihi dafi`unSlide6

وَلاَ لِعَطَائِهِ مَانِعٌ

Whose gifts cannot be stopped by anything,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la li`ata'ihi mani`unSlide7

وَلاَ كَصُنْعِهِ صُنْعُ صَانِعٍ

and Whose making cannot be resembled by the making of anyone.

wa la kasun`ihi sun`u sani`inSlide8

وَهُوَ ٱلْجَوَادُ ٱلْوَاسِعُ

He is the All-magnanimous, the All-liberal.

wa huwa aljawadu alwasi`uSlide9

فَطَرَ اجْنَاسَ ٱلْبَدَائِعِ

He originated the genus of the wonderfully created things

fatara ajnasa albada'i`iSlide10

وَاتْقَنَ بِحِكْمَتِهِ ٱلصَّنَائِعَ

and He perfected the made things by His wisdom.

wa atqana bihikmatihi alssana'i`aSlide11

لا تَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْهِ ٱلطَّلاَئِعُ

All growing things cannot be hidden from Him

la takhfa `alayhi alttala'i`uSlide12

وَلاَ تَضِيعُ عِنْدَهُ ٱلْوَدَائِعُ

and all things deposited with Him shall never be wasted.

wa la tadi`u `indahu alwada'i`uSlide13

جَازِي كُلِّ صَانِعٍ

He is the Repayer on every deed,

jazi kulli sani`inSlide14

وَرَايِشُ كُلِّ قَانِعٍ

the Enricher of every satisfied one,

wa rayishu kulli qani`inSlide15

وَرَاحِمُ كُلِّ ضَارِعٍ

the Merciful toward every supplicant,

wa rahimu kulli dari`inSlide16

وَمُنْزِلُ ٱلْمَنَافِعِ

and the Revealer of the benefits

wa munzilu almanafi`iSlide17

وَٱلْكِتَابِ ٱلْجَامِعِ بِٱلنُّورِ ٱلسَّاطِعِ

and the All-comprehensive Book with the glaring light.

walkitabi aljami`i bilnnuri alssati`iSlide18

وَهُوَ لِلدَّعَوَاتِ سَامِعٌ

He is also the Hearer of prayers,

wa huwa lildda`awati sami`unSlide19

وَلِلْكُرُبَاتِ دَافِعٌ

wa lilkurubati dafi`un

the Warder-off of anguishes,Slide20

وَلِلدَّرَجَاتِ رَافِعٌ

the Raiser of ranks,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lilddarajati rafi`unSlide21

وَلِلْجَبَابِرَةِ قَامِعٌ

and the Suppressor of the tyrants.

wa liljababirati qami`unSlide22

فَلاَ إِلٰهَ غَيْرُهُ

There is no god other than Him

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fala ilaha ghayruhuSlide23

وَلاَ شَيْءَ يَعْدِلُهُ

and there is nothing equivalent to Him

wa la shay'a ya`diluhuSlide24

وَلَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ

and nothing like a likeness of Him,

wa laysa kamithlihi shay'unSlide25

وَهُوَ ٱلسَّمِيعُ ٱلْبَصِيرُ

and He is the All-hearing, the All-seeing,

wa huwa alssami`u albasiruSlide26

ٱللَّطِيفُ ٱلْخَبِيرُ

the All-gentle, the All-aware,

allatifu alkhabiruSlide27

وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

and He has power over all things.

wa huwa `ala kulli shay'in qadirunSlide28

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي ارْغَبُ إِلَيْكَ

O Allah, I willingly desire for You

allahumma inni arghabu ilaykaSlide29

وَاشْهَدُ بِٱلرُّبُوبِيَّةِ لَكَ

and I testify to the Lordship of You,

wa ashhadu bilrrububiyyati lakaSlide30

مُقِرّاً بِانَّكَ رَبِّي

confessing that You are verily my Lord

muqirran bi'annaka rabbiSlide31

وَانَّ إِلَيْكَ مَرَدِّي

and to You shall be my return.

wa anna ilayka maraddiSlide32

اِبْتَدَاتَنِي بِنِعْمَتِكَ

You had begun bestowing on me

ibtada'tani bini`matikaSlide33

قَبْلَ انْ اكُونَ شَيْئاً مَذْكُوراً

before I was anything worth mentioning,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

qabla an akuna shay'an madhkuranSlide34

وَخَلَقْتَنِي مِنَ ٱلتُّرَابِ

and You created me from dust.

wa khalaqtani min altturabiSlide35

ثُمَّ اسْكَنْتَنِي ٱلاصْلاَبَ

You then put me up in the loins,

thumma askantani al-aslabaSlide36

آمِناً لِرَيْبِ ٱلْمَنُونِ

(making me) saved from vicissitudes of time,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

aminan liraybi almanuniSlide37

وَٱخْتِلافِ ٱلدُّهُورِ وَٱلسِّنِينَ

and change of ages and years.

wakhtilafi aldduhuri walssininaSlide38

فَلَمْ ازَلْ ظَاعِناً مِنْ صُلْبٍ إِلَىٰ رَحِمٍ

I was moving from a loin to a womb

falam azal za`inan min sulbin ila rahiminSlide39

فِي تَقَادُمٍ مِنَ ٱلايَّامِ ٱلْمَاضِيَةِ

throughout the passage of the past days

fi taqadumin min al-ayyami almadiyatiSlide40

وَٱلْقُرُونِ ٱلْخَالِيَةِ

and the ancient ages;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walquruni alkhaliyatiSlide41

لَمْ تُخْرِجْنِي لِرَافَتِكَ بِي

as You have not taken me out (to this world)—on account of Your sympathy to me,

lam tukhrijni lira'fatika biSlide42

وَلُطْفِكَ لِي

Your kindness to me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lutfika liSlide43

وَإِحْسَانِكَ إِلَيَّ

and Your compassion to me—

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ihsanika ilayyaSlide44

فِي دَوْلَةِ ائِمَّةِ ٱلْكُفْرِ

in the government of the heads of unbelief

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fi dawlati a'immati alkufriSlide45

ٱلَّذِينَ نَقَضُوٱ عَهْدَكَ

who breached their covenant with You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alladhina naqadu `ahdakaSlide46

وَكَذَّبُوٱ رُسُلَكَ

and denied Your messengers.

wa kadhdhabu rusulakaSlide47

لٰكِنَّكَ اخْرَجْتَنِي لِلَّذِي سَبَقَ لِي مِنَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ

However, You took me out on account of the guidance that You have already known about me

lakinnaka akhrajtani lilladhi sabaqa li min alhudaSlide48

ٱلَّذِي لَهُ يَسَّرْتَنِي

and You have made easy the way to it

alladhi lahu yassartaniSlide49

وَفِيهِ انْشَاتَنِي

and You have brought me up in it.

wa fihi ansha'taniSlide50

وَمِنْ قَبْلِ ذٰلِكَ رَؤُفْتَ بِي

Even before that, You had compassion on me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa min qabli dhalika ra'ufta biSlide51

بِجَمِيلِ صُنْعِكَ

through Your excellent conferral

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bijamili sun`ikaSlide52

وَسَوَابِغِ نِعَمِكَ

and Your affluent bestowals.

wa sawabighi ni`amikaSlide53

فَٱبْتَدَعْتَ خَلْقِي مِنْ مَنِيٍّ يُمْنَىٰ

So, You fashioned my creation from semen that gushed forth

fabtada`ta khalqi min maniyyin yumnaSlide54

وَاسْكَنْتَنِي فِي ظُلُمَاتٍ ثَلاَثٍ

and put me up in triple darkness

wa askantani fi zulumatin thalathinSlide55

بَيْنَ لَحْمٍ وَدَمٍ وَجِلْدٍ

among flesh, blood, and skin.

bayna lahmin wa damin wa jildinSlide56

لَمْ تُشْهِدْنِي خَلْقِي

You have not made me witness my creation,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

lam tushhidni khalqiSlide57

وَلَمْ تَجْعَلْ إِلَيَّ شَيْئاً مِنْ امْرِي

and You have not referred any part of my creation to me.

wa lam taj`al ilayya shay'an min amriSlide58

ثُمَّ اخْرَجْتَنِي لِلَّذِي سَبَقَ لِي مِنَ ٱلْهُدَىٰ

You then took me out on account of the guidance that You have already known about me

thumma akhrajtani lilladhi sabaqa li min alhudaSlide59

إِلَىٰ ٱلدُّنْيَا تَامّاً سَوِيّاً

to the world, perfect and in sound health.

ila alddunya tamman sawiyyanSlide60

وَحَفِظْتَنِي فِي ٱلْمَهْدِ طِفْلاً صَبِيّاً

You have safeguarded me in the cradle as small child.

wa hafiztani fi almahdi tiflan sabiyyanSlide61

وَرَزَقْتَنِي مِنَ ٱلْغِذَاءِ لَبَناً مَرِيّاً

You have provided me with wholesome milk as food.

wa razaqtani min alghidha'i labanan mariyyanSlide62

وَعَطَفْتَ عَلَيَّ قُلُوبَ ٱلْحَوَاضِنِ

You have made the hearts of the nursemaids tender.

wa `atafta `alayya quluba alhawadiniSlide63

وَكَفَّلْتَنِي ٱلامَّهَاتِ ٱلرَّوَاحِمَ

You have given me into the charge of merciful mothers.

wa kaffaltani al-ummahati alrrawahimaSlide64

وَكَلَاتَنِي مِنْ طَوَارِقِ ٱلْجَانِّ

You have saved me from the visits of the Jinn.

wa kala'tani min tawariqi aljanniSlide65

وَسَلَّمْتَنِي مِنَ ٱلزِّيَادَةِ وَٱلنُّقْصَانِ

You have delivered me from increase and decrease.

wa sallamtani min alzziyadati walnnuqsaniSlide66

فَتَعَالَيْتَ يَا رَحِيمُ يَا رَحْمٰنُ

So, Exalted be You, O All-merciful, O All-beneficent.

fata`alayta ya rahimu ya rahmanuSlide67

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا ٱسْتَهْلَلْتُ نَاطِقاً بِٱلْكَلاَمِ

When I commenced (my life) by pronouncing words,

hatta idha istahlaltu natiqan bilkalamiSlide68

اتْمَمْتَ عَلَيَّ سَوَابِغَ ٱلإِنْعَامِ

You perfected for me the affluent bestowals,

atmamta `alayya sawabigha al-in`amiSlide69

وَرَبَّيتَنِي زَائِداً فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ

and brought me up with an increase every year.

wa rabbaytani za'idan fi kulli `aminSlide70

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا ٱكْتَمَلَتْ فِطْرَتِي

When my creation was accomplished,

hatta idha iktamalat fitratiSlide71

وَٱعْتَدَلَتْ مِرَّتِي

and my power became straight,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa`tadalat mirratiSlide72

اوْجَبْتَ عَلَيَّ حُجَّتَكَ

You put me under the obligation of Your Claim,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

awjabta `alayya hujjatakaSlide73

بِانْ الْهَمْتَنِي مَعْرِفَتَكَ

which is that You inspired me with recognition of You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bi'an alhamtani ma`rifatakaSlide74

وَرَوَّعْتَنِي بِعَجَائِبِ حِكْمَتِكَ

and alarmed me by the wonders of Your wisdom,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa rawwa`tani bi`aja'ibi hikmatikaSlide75

وَايْقَظْتَنِي لِمَا ذَرَاتَ فِي سَمَائِكَ وَارْضِكَ

and You aroused in me that which You created in Your heavens and lands,

wa ayqaztani lima dhara'ta fi sama'ika wa ardikaSlide76

مِنْ بَدَائِعِ خَلْقِكَ

which is the excellent creation of You.

min bada'i`i khalqikaSlide77

وَنَبَّهْتَنِي لِشُكْرِكَ وَذِكْرِكَ

You attracted my attentions to thank and mention You.

wa nabbahtani lishukrika wa dhikrikaSlide78

وَاوْجَبْتَ عَلَيَّ طَاعَتَكَ وَعِبَادَتَكَ

You made obligatory on me to obey and worship You.

wa awjabta `alayya ta`ataka wa `ibadatakaSlide79

وَفَهَّمْتَنِي مَا جَاءَتْ بِهِ رُسُلُكَ

You made me understand that with which Your Apostles came.

wa fahhamtani ma ja'at bihi rusulukaSlide80

وَيَسَّرْتَ لِي تَقَبُّلَ مَرْضَاتِكَ

You made easy for me to find agreeable Your pleasure.

wa yassarta li taqabbula mardatikaSlide81

وَمَنَنْتَ عَلَيَّ فِي جَمِيعِ ذٰلِكَ

You bestowed upon me with the favor of all that,

wa mananta `alayya fi jami`i dhalikaSlide82

بِعَوْنِكَ وَلُطْفِكَ

out of Your aid and Your gentleness.

bi`awnika wa lutfikaSlide83

ثُمَّ إِذْ خَلَقْتَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ ٱلثَّرَىٰ

As You created me from the best of soil,

thumma idh khalaqtani min khayri alththaraSlide84

لَمْ تَرْضَ لِي يَا إِلٰهِي نِعْمَةً دُونَ اخْرَىٰ

You, my God, have not wanted for me to have a certain favor (and to be deprived of another)

lam tarda li ya ilahi ni`matan duna ukhraSlide85

وَرَزَقْتَنِي مِنْ انْوَاعِ ٱلْمَعَاشِ

and You therefore provided me with the various kinds of living

wa razaqtani min anwa`i alma`ashiSlide86

وَصُنُوفِ ٱلرِّيَاشِ

and types of wealth,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa sunufi alrriyashiSlide87

بِمَنِّكَ ٱلْعَظِيمِ ٱلاعْظَمِ عَلَيَّ

out of Your great and grand conferral upon me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bimannaka al`azimi al-a`zami `alayyaSlide88

وَإِحْسَانِكَ ٱلْقَدِيمِ إِلَيَّ

and Your eternal kindness to me.

wa ihsanika alqadimi ilayyaSlide89

حَتَّىٰ إِذَا اتْمَمْتَ عَلَيَّ جَمِيعَ ٱلنِّعَمِ

As You perfected for me all the graces

hatta idha atmamta `alayya jami`a alnni`amiSlide90

وَصَرَفْتَ عَنِّي كُلَّ ٱلنِّقَمِ

and warded off all misfortunes,

wa sarafta `anni kulla alnniqamiSlide91

لَمْ يَمْنَعْكَ جَهْلِي وَجُرْاتِي عَلَيْكَ

my ignorance of You and challenge have not stopped You

lam yamna`ka jahli wa jur'ati `alaykaSlide92

انْ دَلَلْتَنِي إِلَىٰ مَا يُقَرِّبُنِي إِلَيْكَ

from showing me that which takes me near to You,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

an dalaltani ila ma yuqarribuni ilaykaSlide93

وَوَفَّقْتَنِي لِمَا يُزْلِفُنِي لَدَيْكَ

and from leading me to that which grants me proximity to You.

wa waffaqtani lima yuzlifuni ladaykaSlide94

فَإِنْ دَعَوْتُكَ اجَبْتَنِي

So, if I pray You, You will respond to me;

fa'in da`awtuka ajabtaniSlide95

وَإِنْ سَالْتُكَ اعْطَيْتَنِي

and if I beg You, You will give me;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa in sa'altuka a`taytaniSlide96

وَإِنْ اطَعْتُكَ شَكَرْتَنِي

and if I obey You, You will thank me;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa in ata`tuka shakartaniSlide97

وَإِنْ شَكَرْتُكَ زِدْتَنِي

and if I thank You, You will give me more.

wa in shakartuka zidtaniSlide98

كُلُّ ذٰلِكَ إِكْمَالاً لانْعُمِكَ عَلَيَّ

All that is completion of Your favors for me,

kullu dhalika ikmalan li'an`umika `alayyaSlide99

وَإِحْسَانِكَ إِلَيَّ

and Your kindness to me.

wa ihsanika ilayyaSlide100

فَسُبْحَانَكَ سُبْحَانَكَ

So, all glory be to You; all glory be to You.

fasubhanaka subhanakaSlide101

مِنْ مُبْدِيً مُعِيدٍ

You are verily Originator and Reproducer (of the creation)

min mubdiyin mu`idinSlide102

حَمِيدٍ مَجِيدٍ

and worthy of all praise and full of all glory.

hamidin majidinSlide103

وَتَقَدَّسَتْ اسْمَاؤُكَ

Holy be Your Names

wa taqaddasat asma'ukaSlide104

وَعَظُمَتْ آلاؤُكَ

as Your bounties are so immeasurable.

wa `azumat ala'ukaSlide105

فَايَّ نِعَمِكَ يَا إِلٰهِي احْصِي عَدَداً وَذِكْراً؟

Which of Your favors, O my God, can I count in numbers and examples?

fa'ayya ni`amika ya ilahi uhsi `adadan wa dhikranSlide106

امْ ايَّ عَطَايَاكَ اقُومُ بِهَا شُكْراً

Or which of Your gifts can I thank properly?

am ayya `atayaka aqumu biha shukranSlide107

وَهِيَ يَا رَبِّ اكْثَرُ مِنْ انْ يُحْصِيهَا ٱلْعَادُّونَ

They are, O my Lord, too numerous to be counted by counters

wa hiya ya rabbi aktharu min an yuhsiha al`addunaSlide108

اوْ يَبْلُغَ عِلْماً بِهَا ٱلْحَافِظُونَ

or to be realized by memorizers.

aw yablugha `ilman biha alhafizunaSlide109

ثُمَّ مَا صَرَفْتَ وَدَرَاتَ عَنِّي

Moreover, that which You have warded off and repelled,

thumma ma sarafta wa darata `anniSlide110

اللَّهُمَّ مِنَ ٱلضُّرِّ وَٱلضَّرَّاءِ

O Allah, from (the various kinds of) harm and mischief

allahumma min alddurri walddarra'iSlide111

اكْثَرُ مِمَّا ظَهَرَ لِي مِنَ ٱلْعَافِيَةِ وَٱلسَّرَّاءِ

is more than that which came to me from wellbeing and joy.

aktharu mimma zahara li min al`afiyati walssarra'iSlide112

وَانَا اشْهَدُ يَا إِلٰهِي بِحَقِيقَةِ إِيـمَانِي

And I bear witness, O my God, with my true belief,

wa ana ashhadu ya ilahi bihaqiqati imaniSlide113

وَعَقْدِ عَزَمَاتِ يَقِينِي

and the fortitude of the determinations of my conviction

wa `aqdi `azamati yaqiniSlide114

وَخَالِصِ صَرِيحِ تَوْحِيدِي

and the purity of my open belief in Your Oneness

wa khalisi sarihi tawhidiSlide115

وَبَاطِنِ مَكْنُونِ ضَمِيرِي

and the essence of the secret of my conscience,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa batini maknuni damiriSlide116

وَعَلاَئِقِ مَجَارِي نُورِ بَصَرِي

and the ties of the canals of the light of my sight,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `ala'iqi majari nuri basariSlide117

وَاسَارِيرِ صَفْحَةِ جَبِينِي

and the lines of my forehead

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa asariri safhati jabiniSlide118

وَخُرْقِ مَسَارِبِ نَفْسِي

and the hallows of the courses of my breath,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa khurqi masaribi nafsiSlide119

وَخَذَارِيفِ مَارِنِ عِرْنِينِي

and the (nasal) cavities of my nose,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa khadharifi marini `irniniSlide120

وَمَسَارِبِ صِمَاخِ سَمْعِي

and the courses of the meatus of my hearing,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa masaribi simakhi sam`iSlide121

وَمَا ضَمَّتْ وَاطْبَقَتْ عَلَيْهِ شَفَتَايَ

and whatever my two lips hide and cover up,

wa ma dammat wa atbaqat `alayhi shafatayaSlide122

وَحَرَكَاتِ لَفْظِ لِسَانِي

and the motions of the vocalization of my tongue,

wa harakati lafzi lisaniSlide123

وَمَغْرَزِ حَنَكِ فَمِي وَفَكِّي

and the socket of the palate of my mouth and jaw,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa maghrazi hanaki fami wa fakkiSlide124

وَمَنَابِتِ اضْرَاسِي

and the matrices of my dents,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa manabiti adrasiSlide125

وَمَسَاغِ مَطْعَمِي وَمَشْرَبِي

and the tasting of my food and my drink,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa masaghi mat`ami wa mashrabiSlide126

وَحِمَالَةِ امِّ رَاسِي

and the carrier of my skill,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa himalati ummi ra'siSlide127

وَبُلُوعِ فَارِغِ حَبَائِلِ عُنُقِي

and the tube of the tissues of my neck

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa bulu`i farighi haba'ili `unuqiSlide128

وَمَا ٱشْتَمَلَ عَلَيْهِ تَامُورُ صَدْرِي

and what is included by the cloak of my chest,

wa ma ishtamala `alayhi tamuru sadriSlide129

وَحَمَائِلِ حَبْلِ وَتِينِي

and the carriers of the cord of my aorta,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa hama'ili habli watiniSlide130

وَنِيَاطِ حِجَابِ قَلْبِي

and the cords of the pericardium of my heart,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa niyati hijabi qalbiSlide131

وَافْلاذِ حَوَاشِي كَبِدِي

and the pieces of the retinues of my liver,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa afladhi hawashi kabidiSlide132

وَمَا حَوَتْهُ شَرَاسِيفُ اضْلاَعِي

and that which is included by the cartilages of my ribs,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ma hawat-hu sharasifu adla`iSlide133

وَحِقَاقِ مَفَاصِلِي

and the cavities of my joints,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa hiqaqi mafasiliSlide134

وَقَبْضِ عَوَامِلِي

and the interactings of my organisms,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa qabdi `awamiliSlide135

وَاطْرَافِ انَامِلِي

and the extremes of my fingertips,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa atrafi anamiliSlide136

وَلَحْمِي وَدَمِي

and my flesh, and my blood,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lahmi wa damiSlide137

وَشَعْرِي وَبَشَرِي

and my hair, and my skin,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa sha`ri wa bashariSlide138

وَعَصَبِي وَقَصَبِي

and my nerve, and my sinews,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `asabi wa qasabiSlide139

وَعِظَامِي وَمُخِّي وَعُرُوقِي

and my bones, and my brain, and my veins,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `izami wa mukhkhi wa `uruqiSlide140

وَجَمِيعِ جَوَارِحِي

and all of my organs,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa jami`i jawarihiSlide141

وَمَا ٱنْتَسَجَ عَلَىٰ ذٰلِكَ ايَّامَ رِضَاعِي

and that which was pieced together during the days of my suckling,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ma intasaja `ala dhalika ayyama rida`iSlide142

وَمَا اقَلَّتِ ٱلارْضُ مِنِّي

and whatever of my body that the ground carries,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ma aqallat al-ardu minniSlide143

وَنَوْمِي وَيَقْظَتِي وَسُكُونِي

and my sleeping, and my wakefulness, and my motionlessness,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa nawmi wa yaqzati wa sukuniSlide144

وَحَرَكَاتِ رُكُوعِي وَسُجُودِي

and the movements of my bowing and prostration;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa harakati ruku`i wa sujudiSlide145

انْ لَوْ حَاوَلْتُ وَٱجْتَهَدْتُ مَدَىٰ ٱلاعْصَارِ

(by all that I bear witness) that if I try my best and strive throughout all ages

an law hawaltu wa ijtahadtu mada al-a`sariSlide146

وَٱلاحْقَابِ لَوْ عُمِّرْتُهَا

and all times, if I live them,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wal-ahqabi law `ummirtuhaSlide147

انْ اؤَدِّيَ شُكْرَ وَاحِدَةٍ مِنْ انْعُمِكَ

to thank properly only one of Your favors,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

an u'addiya shukra wahidatin min an`umikaSlide148

مَا ٱسْتَطَعْتُ ذٰلِكَ

I will not be able to do that,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ma istata`tu dhalikaSlide149

إِلاَّ بِمَنِّكَ ٱلْمُوجَبِ عَلَيَّ بِهِ شُكْرُكَ

except through a favor of You, which also requires me to thank You for it,

illa bimannika almujabi `alayya bihi shukrukaSlide150

ابَداً جَدِيداً

once again with new thanking

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

abadan jadidanSlide151

وَثَنَاءً طَارِفاً عَتِيداً

and with praise that is newly acquired and newly prepared.

wa thana'an tarifan `atidanSlide152

اجَلْ وَلَوْ حَرَصْتُ

True is this! And if I try hard,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ajal wa law harastuSlide153

انَا وَٱلْعَادُّونَ مِنْ انَامِكَ

as well as the counters from Your creatures,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ana wal-`adduna min anamikaSlide154

انْ نُحْصِيَ مَدَىٰ إِنْعَامِكَ

to count the scope of Your favoring,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

an nuhsiya mada in`amikaSlide155

سَالِفِهِ وَآنِفِهِ

both the past and the present,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

salifihi wa anifihiSlide156

مَا حَصَرْنَاهُ عَدَداً

we shall never be able to calculate it in number,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ma hasarnahu `adadanSlide157

وَلاَ احْصَيْنَاهُ امَداً

or count it in time.

wa la ahsaynahu amadanSlide158

هَيْهَاتَ انَّىٰ ذٰلِكَ

Too far is this! How can it be!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hayhata anna dhalikaSlide159

وَانْتَ ٱلْمُخْبِرُ فِي كِتَابِكَ ٱلنَّاطِقِ

While it is You Who have informed in Your rational Book

wa anta almukhbiru fi kitabika alnnatiqiSlide160

وَٱلنَّبَأِ ٱلصَّادِقِ

and true news:

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walnnaba'i alssadiqiSlide161

”وَإِنْ تَعُدُّوٱ نِعْمَةَ اللّهِ لاَ تُحْصُوهَا“

“And if you count Allah's favors, you will not be able to number them.”

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa'in ta`uddu ni`mata allahi la tuhsuhaSlide162

صَدَقَ كِتَابُكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ وَإِنْبَاؤُكَ

True is Your Book, O Allah, and Your informing.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

sadaqa kitabuka allahumma wa inba'ukaSlide163

وَبَلَّغَتْ انْبِيَاؤُكَ وَرُسُلُكَ

Your Prophets and Messengers have conveyed

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ballaghat anbiya'uka wa rusulukaSlide164

مَا انْزَلْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْ وَحْيِكَ

what You revealed to them, from Your Revelation,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ma anzalta `alayhim min wahyikaSlide165

وَشَرَعْتَ لَهُمْ وَبِهِمْ مِنْ دِينِكَ

and what You have made plain for them and through them Your religion.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa shara`ta lahum wa bihim min dinikaSlide166

غَيْرَ انِّي يَا إِلٰهِي

Nevertheless, O my God,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ghayra anni ya ilahiSlide167

اشْهَدُ بِجُهْدِي وَجِدِّي

I bear witness by my ultimate possibility and my diligence

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ashhadu bijuhdi wa jiddiSlide168

وَمَبْلَغِ طَاقَتِي وَوُسْعِي

and the scope of my vigor and my capacity,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa mablaghi taqati wa wus`iSlide169

وَاقُولُ مُؤْمِناً مُوقِناً

and I say with full faith and conviction:

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa aqulu mu'minan muqinanSlide170

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ٱلَّذِي لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَداً

All praise be to Allah Who has not taken to Himself a son

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alhamdu lillahi alladhi lam yattakhidh waladanSlide171

فَيَكُونَ مَوْرُوثاً

to be inherited,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fayakuna mawruthanSlide172

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ شَرِيكٌ فِي مُلْكِهِ

and Who does not have a partner in His kingdom,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lam yakun lahu sharikun fi mulkihiSlide173

فَيُضَادُّهُ فِيمَا ٱبْتَدَعَ

to oppose Him in what He fashions,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fayudadduhu fima ibtada`aSlide174

وَلاَ وَلِيٌّ مِنَ ٱلذُّلِّ

and Who does not have a helper to save Him from disgrace,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la waliyyun min aldhdhulliSlide175

فَيُرْفِدَهُ فِيمَا صَنَعَ

to help Him in what He makes.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fayurfidahu fima sana`aSlide176

فَسُبْحَانَهُ سُبْحَانَهُ

So, glory be to Him, glory be to Him.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fasubhanahu subhanahuSlide177

لَوْ كَانَ فِيهِمَا آلِهَةٌ إِلاَّ ٱللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَا وَتَفَطَّرَتَا

If there had been in them any gods except Allah, they would both have certainly been in a state of disorder and destruction.

law kana fihima alihatun illa allahu lafasadata wa tafattarataSlide178

سُبْحَانَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْوَاحِدِ ٱلاحَدِ ٱلصَّمَدِ

All glory be to Allah, the One, the Only One, the Besought of all,

subhana allahi alwahidi al-ahadi alssamadiSlide179

ٱلَّذِي لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ

Who begets not nor is He begotten,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alladhi lam yalid wa lam yuladSlide180

وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُواً احَدٌ

and there is none like Him.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lam yakun lahu kufwan ahadunSlide181

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْداً يُعَادِلُ حَمْدَ مَلائِكَتِهِ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ

All praise be to Allah—praise that is equal to the praise of His Favorite Angels,

alhamdu lillahi hamdan yu`adilu hamda mala'ikatihi almuqarrabinaSlide182

وَ انْبِيَائِهِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

and His missioned Prophets.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anbiya'ihi almursalinaSlide183

وَصَلَّىٰ ٱللَّهُ عَلَىٰ خِيَرَتِهِ

May Allah send blessings to His Select,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa salla allahu `ala khiyaratihiSlide184

مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

Muhammad, the Seal of Prophets,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

muhammadin khatami alnnabiyyinaSlide185

وَآلِهِ ٱلطَّيِّبِينَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ ٱلْمُخْلَصِينَ وَسَلَّمَ

and upon his Household, the pure, immaculate, and well-chosen, and may He send benedictions upon them.

wa alihi alttayyibina alttahirina almukhlasina wa sallamaSlide186

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱجْعَلْنِي اخْشَاكَ كَانِّي ارَاكَ

O Allah, (please) make me fear You as if I can see You.

allahumma ij`alni akhshaka ka'anni araka

Imam Husain

(á) then besought Almighty Allah so earnestly that his eyes shed tears.

He then said:Slide187

وَاسْعِدْنِي بِتَقْوَاكَ

Make happy by fearing You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa as`idni bitaqwakaSlide188

وَلاَ تُشْقِنِي بِمَعْصِيَتِكَ

Do not make me unhappy by disobeying You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la tushqini bima`siyatikaSlide189

وَخِرْ لِي فِي قَضَائِكَ

Choose for me through Your decree.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa khir li fi qada'ikaSlide190

وَبَارِكْ لِي فِي قَدَرِكَ

Bless me through Your determination,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa barik li fi qadarikaSlide191

حَتَّىٰ لا احِبَّ تَعْجِيلَ مَا اخَّرْتَ

so that I will not long for hastening that which You have delayed

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hatta la uhibba ta`jila ma akhkhartaSlide192

وَلاَ تَاخِيرَ مَا عَجَّلْتَ

or delaying that which You would hasten.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la ta'khira ma `ajjaltaSlide193

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱجْعَلْ غِنَايَ فِي نَفْسِي

O Allah, (please) make my richness in my conscience,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma ij`al ghinaya fi nafsiSlide194

وَٱلْيَقِينَ فِي قَلْبِي

conviction in my hear,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walyaqina fi qalbiSlide195

وَٱلإِخْلاَصَ فِي عَمَلِي

sincerity in my deeds,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wal-ikhlasa fi `amaliSlide196

وَٱلنُّوْرَ فِي بَصَرِي

light in my sight,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walnnura fi basariSlide197

وَٱلْبَصِيرَةَ فِي دِينِي

and insight in my religion.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walbasirata fi diniSlide198

وَمَتِّعْنِي بِجَوَارِحِي

Make me find enjoyment in my organs.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa matti`ni bijawarihiSlide199

وَٱجْعَلْ سَمْعِي وَبَصَرِي ٱلْوَارِثَيْنِ مِنِّي

Make my hearing and my sight sound until I am inherited.

waj`al sam`i wa basari alwarithayni minniSlide200

وَٱنْصُرْنِي عَلَىٰ مَنْ ظَلَمَنِي

Grant me victory over him who wrongs me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wansurni `ala man zalamaniSlide201

وَارِنِي فِيهِ ثَارِي وَمَآرِبِي

make me witness my avenge and objective in him,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa arini fihi tha'ri wa ma'aribiSlide202

وَاقِرَّ بِذٰلِكَ عَيْنِي

and make it the delight of my eye.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa aqirra bidhalika `ayniSlide203

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱكْشِفْ كُرْبَتِي

O Allah, (please) relieve my agony,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma ikshif kurbatiSlide204

وَٱسْتُرْ عَوْرَتِي

conceal my flaws,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wastur `awratiSlide205

وَٱغْفِرْ لِي خَطِيئَتِي

forgive my sin,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

waghfir li khati'atiSlide206

وَٱخْسَا شَيْطَانِي

drive away my devil from me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wakhsa' shaytaniSlide207

وَفُكَّ رِهَانِي

redeem my mortgage,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa fukka rihaniSlide208

وَٱجْعَلْ لِي يَا إِلٰهِي ٱلدَّرَجَةَ ٱلْعُلْيَا

and decide for me, O my God, the supreme rank

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

waj`al li ya ilahi alddarajata al`ulyaSlide209

فِي ٱلآخِرَةِ وَٱلاولَىٰ

in the Hereafter and in the former (life).

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fi al-akhirati wal-ulaSlide210

اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ كَمَا خَلَقْتَنِي

O Allah, all praise be to You for You have created me

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma laka alhamdu kama khalaqtaniSlide211

فَجَعَلْتَنِي سَمِيعاً بَصِيراً

and made me hear and see.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

faja`altani sami`an basiranSlide212

وَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ كَمَا خَلَقْتَنِي

All praise be to You for you have created me

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa laka alhamdu kama khalaqtaniSlide213

فَجَعَلْتَنِي خَلْقاً سَوِيّاً رَحْمَةً بِي

and made my creation perfect, on account of Your having mercy on me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

faja`altani khalqan sawiyyan rahmatan biSlide214

وَقَدْ كُنْتَ عَنْ خَلْقِي غَنِيّاً

and You could dispense with creating me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa qad kunta `an khalqi ghaniyyanSlide215

رَبِّ بِمَا بَرَاتَنِي فَعَدَّلْتَ فِطْرَتِي

O my Lord, as You gave rise to me and perfected my creation;

rabbi bima bara'tani fa`addalta fitratiSlide216

رَبِّ بِمَا انْشَاتَنِي فَاحْسَنْتَ صُورَتِي

O my Lord, as You originated me and did well my form;

rabbi bima ansha'tani fa'ahsanta suratiSlide217

رَبِّ بِمَا احْسَنْتَ إِلَيَّ وَفِي نَفْسِي عَافَيْتَنِي

O my Lord, as You conferred favors on me and granted me wellbeing in my self;

rabbi bima ahsanta ilayya wa fi nafsi `afaytaniSlide218

رَبِّ بِمَا كَلَاتَنِي وَوَفَّقْتَنِي

O my Lord, as You saved me and led me to success;

rabbi bima kala'tani wa waffaqtaniSlide219

رَبِّ بِمَا انْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ فَهَدَيْتَنِي

O my Lord, as You bestowed favors on me and guided me;

rabbi bima an`amta `alayya fahadaytaniSlide220

رَبِّ بِمَا اوْلَيْتَنِي وَمِنْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ اعْطَيْتَنِي

O my Lord, as You presented me and gave me from every good;

rabbi bima awlaytani wa min kulli khayrin a`taytaniSlide221

رَبِّ بِمَا اطْعَمْتَنِي وَسَقَيْتَنِي

O my Lord, as you fed me and watered me;

rabbi bima at`amtani wa saqaytaniSlide222

رَبِّ بِمَا اغْنَيْتَنِي وَاقْنَيْتَنِي

O my Lord, as You enriched me and gave me to hold;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

rabbi bima aghnaytani wa aqnaytaniSlide223

رَبِّ بِمَا اعَنْتَنِي وَاعْزَزْتَنِي

O my Lord, as You helped me and braced me;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

rabbi bima a`antani wa a`zaztaniSlide224

رَبِّ بِمَا الْبَسْتَنِي مِنْ سِتْرِكَ ٱلصَّافِي

O my Lord, as you clothed me from Your pure cover

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

rabbi bima albastani min sitrika alssafiSlide225

وَيَسَّرْتَ لِي مِنْ صُنْعِكَ ٱلْكَافِي

and made easy for me Your adequate making,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa yassarta li min sun`ika alkafiSlide226

صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

so, (please) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadinSlide227

وَاعِنِّي عَلَىٰ بَوَائِقِ ٱلدُّهُورِ

help me against calamities of ages

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa a`inni `ala bawa'iqi aldduhuriSlide228

وَصُرُوفِ ٱللَّيَالِي وَٱلايَّامِ

and changes of nights and days,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa surufi allayali wal-ayyamiSlide229

وَنَجِّنِي مِنْ اهْوَالِ ٱلدُّنْيَا

rescue me from the horrors of this world

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa najjini min ahwali alddunyaSlide230

وَكُرُبَاتِ ٱلآخِرَةِ

and the anguishes of the Hereafter,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa kurubati al-akhiratiSlide231

وَٱكْفِنِي شَرَّ مَا يَعْمَلُ ٱلظَّالِمُونَ فِي ٱلارْضِ

and save me from the evils of what the wrongdoers do in the earth.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wakfini sharra ma ya`malu alzzalimuna fi al-ardiSlide232

اللَّهُمَّ مَا اخَافُ فَٱكْفِنِي

O Allah, as to what I anticipate, (please) save me (from it).

allahumma ma akhafu fakfiniSlide233

وَمَا احْذَرُ فَقِنِي

As to what I watch out, (please) protect me (against it).

wa ma ahdharu faqiniSlide234

وَفِي نَفْسِي وَدِينِي فَٱحْرُسْنِي

Safeguard me in my soul and religion,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa fi nafsi wa dini fahrusniSlide235

وَفِي سَفَرِي فَٱحْفَظْنِي

watch over me in my journeys,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa fi safari fahfazniSlide236

وَفِي اهْلِي وَمَالِي فَٱخْلُفْنِي

be in charge of my family members and properties during my absence,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa fi ahli wa mali fakhlufniSlide237

وَفِي مَا رَزَقْتَنِي فَبَارِكْ لِي

bless me in that which You provide as sustenance,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa fima razaqtani fabarik liSlide238

وَفِي نَفْسِي فَذَلِّلْنِي

make me see myself as humble,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa fi nafsi fadhallilniSlide239

وَفِي اعْيُنِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَعَظِّمْنِي

make people see me as great,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa fi a`yuni alnnasi fa`azzimniSlide240

وَمِنْ شَرِّ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلإِنْسِ فَسَلِّمْنِي

keep me sound from the evils of the Jinn and people,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa min sharri aljinni wal-insi fasallimniSlide241

وَبِذُنُوبِي فَلاَ تَفْضَحْنِي

do not disclose me because of my sins,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa bidhunubi fala tafdahniSlide242

وَبِسَرِيرَتِي فَلاَ تُخْزِنِي

do not disgrace me because of the secret side (of myself),

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa bisarirati fala tukhziniSlide243

وَبِعَمَلِي فَلاَ تَبْتَلِنِي

do not try me in my deeds,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa bi`amali fala tabtaliniSlide244

وَنِعَمَكَ فَلاَ تَسْلُبْنِي

do not deprive me of Your bounties,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ni`amaka fala taslubniSlide245

وَإِلَىٰ غَيْرِكَ فَلاَ تَكِلْنِي

and do not refer me to anyone other than You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ila ghayrika fala takilniSlide246

إِلٰهِي إِلَىٰ مَنْ تَكِلُنِي

To whom do You entrust me?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi ila man takiluniSlide247

إِلَىٰ قَرِيبٍ فَيَقْطَعُنِي

To a relative, and he will rupture my relation with him!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ila qaribin fayaqta`uniSlide248

امْ إِلَىٰ بَعِيدٍ فَيَتَجَهَّمُنِي

Or to a strange, and he will glower at me!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

am ila ba`idin fayatajahhamuniSlide249

امْ إِلَىٰ ٱلْمُسْتَضْعِفِينَ لِي

Or to those who deem me weak!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

am ila almustad`ifina liSlide250

وَانْتَ رَبِّي وَمَلِيكُ امْرِي

While You are my Lord and the master of my affairs!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta rabbi wa maliku amriSlide251

اشْكُو إِلَيْكَ غُرْبَتِي وَبُعْدَ دَارِي

I complain to You about my alienation and my foreignness

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ashku ilayka ghurbati wa bu`da dariSlide252

وَهَوَانِي عَلَىٰ مَنْ مَلَّكْتَهُ امْرِي

and my ignominy in the eyes of him whom You have given domination over me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa hawani `ala man mallaktahu amriSlide253

إِلٰهِي فَلاَ تُحْلِلْ عَلَيَّ غَضَبَكَ

So, O my God, do not make Your wrath come upon me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi fala tuhlil `alayya ghadabakaSlide254

فَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ غَضِبْتَ عَلَيَّ فَلاَ ابَالِي سِوَاكَ

If You are not wrathful with me, then I care for nothing save You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fa'in lam takun ghadibta `alayya fala ubali siwakaSlide255

سُبْحَانَكَ غَيْرَ انَّ عَافِيَتَكَ اوْسَعُ لِي

All glory be to You; yet, Your granting me wellbeing is more favorable for me.

subhanaka ghayra anna `afiyataka awsa`u liSlide256

فَاسْالُكَ يَا رَبِّ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ

So, I beseech You, O my Lord, in the name of the Light of Your Face

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fa'as'aluka ya rabbi binuri wajhikaSlide257

ٱلَّذِي اشْرَقَتْ لَهُ ٱلارْضُ وَٱلسَّمَاوَاتُ

to which the earth and the heavens have shone,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alladhi ashraqat lahu al-ardu walssamawatuSlide258

وَكُشِفَتْ بِهِ ٱلظُّلُمَاتُ

by which all darkness has been uncovered,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa kushifat bihi alzzulumatuSlide259

وَصَلُحَ بِهِ امْرُ ٱلاوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ

and by which the affairs of the past and the coming generations are made right,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa saluha bihi amru al-awwalina wal-akhirinaSlide260

انْ لاَ تُمِيتَنِي عَلَىٰ غَضَبِكَ

(please) do not cause me to die while You are wrathful with me

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

an la tumitani `ala ghadabikaSlide261

وَلاَ تُنْزِلْ بِي سَخَطَكَ

and do not inflict on me Your rage.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la tunzil bi sakhatakaSlide262

لَكَ ٱلْعُتْبَىٰ لَكَ ٱلْعُتْبَىٰ

You have the right to scold; You have the right to scold;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

laka al`utba laka al`utbaSlide263

حَتَّىٰ تَرْضَىٰ قَبْلَ ذٰلِكَ

until You are pleased (with me) before that.

hatta tarda qabla dhalikaSlide264

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ

There is no god save You;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

la ilaha illa antaSlide265

رَبُّ ٱلْبَلَدِ ٱلْحَرَامِ

Lord of the Holy City,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

rabbu albaladi alharamiSlide266

وَٱلْمَشْعَرِ ٱلْحَرَامِ

the Holy Monument,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walmash`ari alharamiSlide267

وَٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلْعَتِيقِ

and the Ancient House

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walbayti al`atiqiSlide268

ٱلَّذِي احْلَلْتَهُ ٱلْبَرَكَةَ

that You have encompassed with blessing

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alladhi ahlaltahu albarakataSlide269

وَجَعَلْتَهُ لِلنَّاسِ امْناً

and made security for people.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ja`altahu lilnnasi amnanSlide270

يَا مَنْ عَفَا عَنْ عَظِيمِ ٱلذُّنُوبِ بِحِلْمِهِ

O He Who pardoned the grand sins by His forbearance!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man `afa `an `azimi aldhdhunubi bihilmihiSlide271

يَا مَنْ اسْبَغَ ٱلنَّعْمَاءَ بِفَضْلِهِ

O He Who bestowed bounties by His favoring!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man asbagha alnna`ma'a bifadlihiSlide272

يَا مَنْ اعْطَىٰ ٱلْجَزِيلَ بِكَرَمِهِ

O He Who gave in abundance by His generosity!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man a`ta aljazila bikaramihiSlide273

يَا عُدَّتِي فِي شِدَّتِي

O my means in my hardship!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya `uddati fi shiddatiSlide274

يَا صَاحِبِي فِي وَحْدَتِي

O my companion in my loneliness!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya sahibi fi wahdatiSlide275

يَا غِيَاثِي فِي كُرْبَتِي

O my relief in my agony!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya ghiyathi fi kurbatiSlide276

يَا وَلِيِّي فِي نِعْمَتِي

O my Benefactor in my amenities!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya waliyyi fi ni`matiSlide277

يَا إِلٰهِي وَإِلٰهَ آبَائِي

O my God and the God of my forefathers:

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya ilahi wa ilaha aba'iSlide278

إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ

Abraham, Ishmael,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ibrahima wa isma`ilaSlide279

وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ

Isaac, and Jacob;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ishaqa wa ya`qubaSlide280

وَرَبَّ جَبْرَائِيلَ وَمِيكَائِيلَ وَإِسْرَافِيلَ

the Lord of Gabriel, Michael, and Seraph;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa rabba jabra'ila wa mika'ila wa israfilaSlide281

وَرَبَّ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ

the Lord of Muhammad, the Seal of Prophets,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa rabba muhammadin khatami alnnabiyyinaSlide282

وَآلِهِ ٱلْمُنْتَجَبِينَ

and his elite Household;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa alihi almuntajabinaSlide283

وَمُنْزِلَ ٱلتَّوْرَاةِ وَٱلإِنْجِيلِ

the Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa munzila alttawrati wal-injiliSlide284

وَٱلزَّبُورِ وَٱلْفُرْقَانِ

the Psalms, and the Furqan;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walzzaburi walfurqaniSlide285

وَمُنَزِّلَ كٰهٰيٰعصٰ وَطٰهٰ وَيٰس

the Revealer of kaf-ha-ya-`ayn-sad and ta-ha, ya-sin,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa munazzila kaf-ha-ya-`ain-sad wa ta-ha wa ya-sinSlide286

وَٱلْقُرْآنِ ٱلْحَكِيمِ

and the Qur'an, full of wisdom.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walqur'ani alhakimiSlide287

انْتَ كَهْفِي حِينَ تُعْيِينِي ٱلْمَذَاهِبُ فِي سَعَتِهَا

You are my haven when the wide courses fail to carry me

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

anta kahfi hina tu`yini almadhahibu fi sa`atihaSlide288

وَتَضِيقُ بِيَ ٱلارْضُ بِرُحْبِهَا

and when the earth, despite its width, become too narrow to bear me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tadiqu biya al-ardu biruhbihaSlide289

وَلَوْلاَ رَحْمَتُكَ لَكُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْهَالِكِينَ

Without Your mercy, I would have been of those perishing.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lawla rahmatuka lakuntu min alhalikinaSlide290

وَانْتَ مُقِيلُ عَثْرَتِي

You overlook my slips;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta muqilu `athratiSlide291

وَلَوْلاَ سَتْرُكَ إِيَّايَ لَكُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْمَفْضُوحِينَ

and without Your covering me, I would have been of those exposed.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lawla satruka iyyaya lakuntu min almafduhinaSlide292

وَانْتَ مُؤَيِّدِي بِٱلنَّصْرِ عَلَىٰ اعْدَائِي

You aid me with Your support against my enemies;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta mu'ayyidi bilnnasri `ala a`da'iSlide293

وَلَوْلاَ نَصْرُكَ إِيَّايَ لَكُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْمَغْلُوبِينَ

and without Your support, I would have been of those overwhelmed.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lawla nasruka iyyaya lakuntu min almaghlubinaSlide294

يَا مَنْ خَصَّ نَفْسَهُ بِٱلسُّمُوِّ وَٱلرِّفْعَةِ

O He Who gives Himself exclusively superiority and highness;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man khassa nafsahu bilssumuwwi walrrif`atiSlide295

فَاوْلِيَاؤُهُ بِعِزِّهِ يَعْتَزُّونَ

so, His friends pride themselves on account of His pride.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fa'awliya'uhu bi`izzihi ya`tazzunaSlide296

يَا مَنْ جَعَلَتْ لَهُ ٱلْمُلُوكُ نِيرَ ٱلْمَذَلَّةِ عَلَىٰ اعْنَاقِهِمْ

O He for Whom the kings put the yoke of humiliation on their necks;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man ja`alat lahu almuluku nira almadhallati `ala a`naqihimSlide297

فَهُمْ مِنْ سَطَوَاتِهِ خَائِفُونَ

for they are fearful of His authority.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fahum min satawatihi kha'ifunaSlide298

يَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ ٱلاعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي ٱلصُّدُورُ

He knows the stealthy looks of eyes and that which the breasts conceal

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya`lamu kha'inata al'a`yuni wa ma tukhfi alssuduruSlide299

وَغَيْبَ مَا تَاتِي بِهِ ٱلازْمِنَةُ وَٱلدُّهُورُ

and the future of the times and ages.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ghayba ma ta'ti bihi al'azminatu waldduhuruSlide300

يَا مَنْ لاَ يَعْلَمُ كَيْفَ هُوَ إِلاَّ هُوَ

O He save Whom none knows how He is!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man la ya`lamu kayfa huwa illa huwaSlide301

يَا مَنْ لاَ يَعْلَمُ مَا هُوَ إِلاَّ هُوَ

O He save Whom none knows what He is!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man la ya`lamu ma huwa illa huwaSlide302

يَا مَنْ لاَ يَعْلَمُ مَا يَعْلَمُهُ إِلاَّ هُوَ

O He save Whom none knows what He knows!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man la ya`lamu ma ya`lamuhu illa huwaSlide303

يَا مَنْ كَبَسَ ٱلارْضَ عَلَىٰ ٱلْمَاءِ

O He Who surfaced the earth over the water

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man kabasa al-arda `ala alma'iSlide304

وَسَدَّ ٱلْهَوَاءَ بِٱلسَّمَاءِ

and blocked the air with the heavens!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa sadda alhawa'a bilssama'iSlide305

يَا مَنْ لَهُ اكْرَمُ ٱلاسْمَاءِ

O He Who has the noblest of names!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man lahu akramu al-asma'iSlide306

يَا ذَا ٱلْمَعْرُوفِ ٱلَّذِي لاَ يَنْقَطِعُ ابَداً

O Owner of favor that is never interrupted!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya dhalma`rufi alladhi la yanqati`u abadanSlide307

يَا مُقَيِّضَ ٱلرَّكْبِ لِيُوسُفَ فِي ٱلْبَلَدِ ٱلْقَفْرِ

O He Who directed the caravan towards Joseph in the wasteland,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya muqayyida alrrakbi liyusufa fi albaladi alqafriSlide308

وَمُخْرِجَهُ مِنَ ٱلْجُبِّ

took him out of the pit,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa mukhrijahu min aljubbiSlide309

وَجَاعِلَهُ بَعْدَ ٱلْعُبُودِيَّةِ مَلِكاً

and made him king after enslavement!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ja`ilahu ba`da al`ubudiyyati malikanSlide310

يَا رَادَّهُ عَلَىٰ يَعْقُوبَ

O He Who had returned him to Jacob

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya raddahu `ala ya`qubaSlide311

بَعْدَ انِ ٱبْيَضَّتْ عَيْنَاهُ مِنَ ٱلْحُزْنِ فَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ

after his eyes became white on account of the grief, and he was a repressor of grief!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ba`da an ibyaddat `aynahu min alhuzni fahuwa kazimunSlide312

يَا كَاشِفَ ٱلضُّرِّ وَٱلْبَلْوَىٰ عَنْ ايُّوبَ

O He Who removed the distress and misfortune from Job

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya kashifa alddurri walbalwa `an ayyubaSlide313

وَمُمْسِكَ يَدَيْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ ذَبْحِ ٱبْنِهِ

and withheld the hands of Abraham from slaying his son

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa mumsika yaday ibrahima `an dhabhi ibnihiSlide314

بَعْدَ كِبَرِ سِنِّهِ وَفَنَاءِ عُمُرِهِ

after his old age and termination of his lifetime!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ba`da kibari sinnihi wa fana'i `umurihiSlide315

يَا مَنِ ٱسْتَجَابَ لِزَكَرِيَّا

O He Who responded to Zachariah

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man istajaba lizakariyyaSlide316

فَوَهَبَ لَهُ يَحْيَىٰ

and granted him John

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fawahaba lahu yahyaSlide317

وَلَمْ يَدَعْهُ فَرْداً وَحِيداً

without leaving him alone and lonely!

يَا مَنْ اخْرَجَ يُونُسَ مِنْ بَطْنِ ٱلْحُوتِ

O He Who took Jonah out of the belly of the big fish!

يَا مَنْ فَلَقَ ٱلْبَحْرَ لِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

O He Who cleft the sea to the children of Israel;

ya man falaqa albahra libani isra'ilaSlide320

فَانْجَاهُمْ وَجَعَلَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجُنُودَهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُغْرَقِينَ

so, He saved them and made Pharaoh and his army of the drowned!

fa'anjahum wa ja`ala fir`awna wa junudahu min almughraqinaSlide321

يَا مَنْ ارْسَلَ ٱلرِّيَاحَ مُبَشِّرَاتٍ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَحْمَتِهِ

O He Who sent the winds, bearing good news, before His mercy!

ya man arsala alrriyaha mubashshiratin bayna yaday rahmatihiSlide322

يَا مَنْ لَمْ يَعْجَلْ عَلَىٰ مَنْ عَصَاهُ مِنْ خَلْقِهِ

O He Who has no hastiness on His creatures who disobey Him!

ya man lam ya`jal `ala man `asahu min khalqihiSlide323

يَا مَنِ ٱسْتَنْقَذَ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ مِنْ بَعْدِ طُولِ ٱلْجُحُودِ

O He Who saved the sorcerers after their long denial!

ya man istanqadha alssaharata min ba`di tuli aljuhudiSlide324

وَقَدْ غَدَوْٱ فِي نِعْمَتِهِ

and after they had lived in His bounty,

wa qad ghadaw fi ni`matihiSlide325

يَاكُلُونَ رِزْقَهُ وَيَعْبُدُونَ غَيْرَهُ

eating from His sustenance, but serving someone else other than Him,

ya'kuluna rizqahu wa ya`buduna ghayrahuSlide326

وَقَدْ حَادُّوهُ وَنَادُّوهُ

acting in opposition to Him, antagonizing Him,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa qad hadduhu wa nadduhuSlide327

وَكَذَّبُوٱ رُسُلَهُ

and denying His messengers.

wa kadhdhabu rusulahuSlide328

يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا بَدِيءُ

O Allah! O Allah! O Originator!

ya allahu ya allahu ya badi'uSlide329

يَا بَدِيعاً لاَ نِدَّ لَكَ

O Fashioner! There is no equal to You.

ya badi`an la nidda lakaSlide330

يَا دَائِماً لاَ نَفَادَ لَكَ

O Everlasting! There is no end to You.

ya da'iman la nafada lakaSlide331

يَا حَيّاً حِينَ لاَ حَيُّ

O Ever-living when there was no living thing!

ya hayyan hina la hayyuSlide332

يَا مُحْيِيَ ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ

O Raiser from the dead!

ya muhyiya almawtaSlide333

يَا مَنْ هُوَ قَائِمٌ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ

O He Who watches every soul as to what it earns!

ya man huwa qa'imun `ala kulli nafsin bima kasabatSlide334

يَا مَنْ قَلَّ لَهُ شُكْرِي فَلَمْ يَحْرِمْنِي

O He to Whom I rarely turned thankful; yet, He did not deprive me,

ya man qalla lahu shukri falam yahrimniSlide335

وَعَظُمَتْ خَطِيئَتِي فَلَمْ يَفْضَحْنِي

against Whom I committed grand sins; yet, He did not disclose me,

wa `azumat khati'ati falam yafdahniSlide336

وَرَآنِي عَلَىٰ ٱلْمَعَاصِي فَلَمْ يَشْهَرْنِي

and Who saw me insisting on disobeying Him; yet, He did not divulge me.

wa ra'ani `ala alma`asi falam yashharniSlide337

يَا مَنْ حَفِظَنِي فِي صِغَرِي

O He Who safeguarded me in my early life!

ya man hafizani fi sighariSlide338

يَا مَنْ رَزَقَنِي فِي كِبَرِي

O He Who provided me with sustenance in my old age!

ya man razaqani fi kibariSlide339

يَا مَنْ ايَادِيهِ عِنْدِي لاَ تُحْصَىٰ

O He Whose favors to me are innumerable

ya man ayadihi `indi la tuhsaSlide340

وَنِعَمُهُ لاَ تُجَازَىٰ

and Whose bounties cannot be compensated!

wa ni`amuhu la tujazaSlide341

يَا مَنْ عَارَضَنِي بِٱلْخَيْرِ وَٱلإِحْسَانِ

O He Who receives me with good turn and kindness

ya man `aradani bilkhayri wal-ihsaniSlide342

وَعَارَضْتُهُ بِٱلإِسَاءَةِ وَٱلْعِصْيَانِ

but I meet Him with offense and disobedience!

wa `aradtuhu bil-isa'ati wal`isyaniSlide343

يَا مَنْ هَدَانِي لِلإِيـمَانِ

O He Who had guided me to faith

ya man hadani lil'imaniSlide344

مِنْ قَبْلِ انْ اعْرِفَ شُكْرَ ٱلاِﹾمْتِنَانِ

before I learnt showing gratitude!

min qabli an a`rifa shukra al'imtinaniSlide345

يَا مَنْ دَعَوْتُهُ مَرِيضاً فَشَفَانِي

O He Whom I besought in sickness; so, He restored me to health,

ya man da`awtuhu maridan fashafaniSlide346

وَعُرْيَاناً فَكَسَانِي

in bareness; so, He covered me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `uryanan fakasaniSlide347

وَجَائِعاً فَاشْبَعَنِي

in hunger; so, He satiated me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ja'i`an fa'ashba`aniSlide348

وَعَطْشَاناً فَارْوَانِي

in thirst; so, He quenched my thirst,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `atshanan fa'arwaniSlide349

وَذَلِيلاً فَاعَزَّنِي

in humility; so, He granted me dignity,

wa dhalilan fa'a`azzaniSlide350

وَجَاهِلاً فَعَرَّفَنِي

in ignorance; so, He taught me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa jahilan fa`arrafaniSlide351

وَوَحِيداً فَكَثَّرَنِي

in loneliness; so, He increased my number,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa wahidan fakaththaraniSlide352

وَغَائِباً فَرَدَّنِي

in foreignness absence; so, He returned me home,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa gha'iban faraddaniSlide353

وَمُقِلاًّ فَاغْنَانِي

in poverty; so, He enriched me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa muqillan fa'aghnaniSlide354

وَمُنْتَصِراً فَنَصَرَنِي

in victory-seeking; so, He supported me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa muntasiran fanasaraniSlide355

وَغَنِيّاً فَلَمْ يَسْلُبْنِي

and in richness; so, He did not deprive me.

wa ghaniyyan falam yaslubniSlide356

وَامْسَكْتُ عَنْ جَمِيعِ ذٰلِكَ فَٱبْتَدَانِي

When I withheld praying Him in all these situation, He took the initiative.

wa amsaktu `an jami`i dhalika fabtada'aniSlide357

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ وَٱلشُّكْرُ

So, all praise and thanks be to You;

يَا مَنْ اقَالَ عَثْرَتِي

O He Who overlooked my slips,

ya man aqala `athratiSlide359

وَنَفَّسَ كُرْبَتِي

relieved my agonies,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa naffasa kurbatiSlide360

وَاجَابَ دَعْوَتِي

responded to my prayer,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ajaba da`watiSlide361

وَسَتَرَ عَوْرَتِي

covered my flaws,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa satara `awratiSlide362

وَغَفَرَ ذُنُوبِي

forgave my sins,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ghafara dhunubiSlide363

وَبَلَّغَنِي طَلِبَتِي

settled my need,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ballaghani talibatiSlide364

وَنَصَرَنِي عَلَىٰ عَدُوِّي

and supported me against my enemy.

wa nasarani `ala `aduwwiSlide365

وَإِنْ اعُدَّ نِعَمَكَ وَمِنَنَكَ

If I count Your bounties, favors,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa in a`udda ni`amaka wa minanakaSlide366

وَكَرَائِمَ مِنَحِكَ لاَ احْصِيهَا

and liberal gifts, I will never number them.

wa kara'ima minahika la uhsihaSlide367

يَا مَوْلاَيَ انْتَ ٱلَّذِي مَنَنْتَ

O my Master! It is You Who bestowed (upon me).

ya mawlaya anta alladhi manantaSlide368

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي انْعَمْتَ

It is You Who conferred favors (upon me).

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي احْسَنْتَ

It is You Who did good (to me).

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي اجْمَلْتَ

It is You Who treated (me) excellently.

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي افْضَلْتَ

It is You Who favored (me).

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي اكْمَلْتَ

It is You Who perfected (Your blessings upon me).

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي رَزَقْتَ

It is You Who provided (me) with sustenance.

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي وَفَّقْتَ

It is You Who led (me) to success.

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي اعْطَيْتَ

It is You Who gave (me).

It is You Who enriched (me).

It is You Who gave (me) to hold.

It is You Who gave (me) shelter.

It is You Who saved (me).

It is You Who guided (me).

It is You Who protected (me).

It is You Who covered my faults.

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي غَفَرْتَ

It is You Who forgave (me).

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي اقَلْتَ

It is You Who overlooked my sins.

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي مَكَّنْتَ

It is You Who established (me).

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي اعْزَزْتَ

It is You Who consolidated (me).

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي اعَنْتَ

It is You Who helped (me).

anta alladhi a`antaSlide388

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي عَضَدْتَ

It is You Who backed (me) up.

anta alladhi `adadtaSlide389

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي ايَّدْتَ

It is You Who aided (me).

anta alladhi ayyadtaSlide390

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي نَصَرْتَ

It is You Who supported (me).

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي شَفَيْتَ

It is You Who restored (me) to health.

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي عَافَيْتَ

It is You Who granted (me) wellbeing.

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي اكْرَمْتَ

It is You Who honored (me).

تَبَارَكْتَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ

Blessed be You and Exalted be You.

tabarakta wa ta`alaytaSlide395

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ دَائِماً

So, all praise be to You permanently,

falaka alhamdu da'imanSlide396

وَلَكَ ٱلشُّكْرُ وَاصِباً ابَداً

and all thanks be to You enduringly and eternally.

wa laka alshshukru wasiban abadanSlide397

ثُمَّ انَا يَا إِلٰهِيَ ٱلْمُعْتَرِفُ بِذُنُوبِي

However, it is I, O my God, who confess of my sins;

thumma ana ya ilhi almu`tarifu bidhunubiSlide398

فَٱغْفِرْهَا لِي

so, (please) forgive them to me.

انَا ٱلَّذِي اسَاتُ

It is I who did badly.

انَا ٱلَّذِي اخْطَاتُ

It is I who did wrong.

ana alladhi akhta'tuSlide401

انَا ٱلَّذِي هَمَمْتُ

It is I who had evil intention.

ana alladhi hamamtuSlide402

انَا ٱلَّذِي جَهِلْتُ

It is I who acted impolitely.

ana alladhi jahiltuSlide403

انَا ٱلَّذِي غَفَلْتُ

It is I who was inadvertent.

ana alladhi ghafaltuSlide404

انَا ٱلَّذِي سَهَوْتُ

It is I who was inattentive.

ana alladhi sahawtuSlide405

انَا ٱلَّذِي ٱعْتَمَدْتُ

It is I who leaned (on something other than You).

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ana alladhi i`tamadtuSlide406

انَا ٱلَّذِي تَعَمَّدْتُ

It is I who did wrong deliberately.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ana alladhi ta`ammadtuSlide407

انَا ٱلَّذِي وَعَدْتُ

It is I who promised.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ana alladhi wa`adtuSlide408

وَانَا ٱلَّذِي اخْلَفْتُ

It is I who failed to fulfill it.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ana alladhi akhlaftuSlide409

انَا ٱلَّذِي نَكَثْتُ

It is I who breached.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ana alladhi nakathtuSlide410

انَا ٱلَّذِي اقْرَرْتُ

It is I who confessed.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ana alladhi aqrartuSlide411

انَا ٱلَّذِي ٱعْتَرَفْتُ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ وَعِنْدِي

It is I who testified to Your favors upon and with me,

ana alladhi i`taraftu bini`matika `alayya wa `indiSlide412

وَابُوءُ بِذُنُوبِي فَٱغْفِرْهَا لِي

and I now acknowledge of my sins; so, (please) forgive them to me.

wa abu'u bidhunubi faghfirha liSlide413

يَا مَنْ لاَ تَضُرُّهُ ذُنُوبُ عِبَادِهِ

O He Who is not injured by the sins of His servants,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man la tadurruhi dhunubu `ibadihiSlide414

وَهُوَ ٱلْغَنِيُّ عَنْ طَاعَتِهِمْ

and Who can surely do without their obedience,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa huwa alghaniyyu `an ta`atihimSlide415

وَٱلْمُوَفِّقُ مَنْ عَمِلَ صَالِحاً مِنْهُمْ

and Who inspires those of them to do good,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walmuwaffiqu man `amila salihan minhumSlide416

بِمَعُونَتِهِ وَرَحْمَتِهِ

out of His aid and mercy.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bima`unatihi wa rahmatihiSlide417

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ إِلٰهِي وَسَيِّدِي

So, all praise be to You, O my God and my Master.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

falaka alhamdu ilahi wa sayyidiSlide418

إِلٰهِي امَرْتَنِي فَعَصَيْتُكَ

O my God: You ordered me, but I disobeyed You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi amartani fa`asaytukaSlide419

وَنَهَيْتَنِي فَٱرْتَكَبْتُ نَهْيَكَ

You warned me, but I violated Your warning.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa nahaytani fartakabtu nahyakaSlide420

فَاصْبَحْتُ لاَ ذَا بَرَاءَةٍ لِي فَاعْتَذِرُ

So, I am now lacking neither justification to apologize

fa'asbahtu la dha bara'atin li fa'a`tadhiruSlide421

وَلاَ ذَا قُوَّةٍ فَانْتَصِرُ

nor power to support myself.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la dha quwwatin fa'antasiruSlide422

فَبِايِّ شَيْء اسْتَقْبِلُكَ يَا مَوْلايَ

By which thing can I now meet You, O my Master?

Fabi'ayyi shay'in astaqbiluka ya mawlayaSlide423

ابِسَمْعِي امْ بِبَصَرِي

Is it by my hearing, my sight,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

abisam`i am bibasariSlide424

امْ بِلِسَانِي امْ بِيَدِي امْ بِرِجْلِي

my tongue, my hand, or my foot?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

am bilisani am biyadi am birijliSlide425

الَيْسَ كُلُّهَا نِعَمَكَ عِنْدِي

Are all these not Your bounties on me

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alaysa kulluha ni`amaka `indiSlide426

وَبِكُلِّهَا عَصَيْتُكَ يَا مَوْلاَيَ

and with all of them I have disobeyed You, O my Master?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa bikulliha `asaytuka ya mawlayaSlide427

فَلَكَ ٱلْحُجَّةُ وَٱلسَّبِيلُ عَلَيَّ

You have absolute argument and claim against me.

falaka alhujjatu walssabilu `alayyaSlide428

يَا مَنْ سَتَرَنِي مِنَ ٱلآبَاءِ وَٱلامَّهَاتِ انْ يَزْجُرُونِي

O He Who covered me from fathers and mothers lest they might have driven me away,

ya man satarani min al'aba'i wal'ummahati an yazjuruniSlide429

وَمِنَ ٱلْعَشَائِرِ وَٱلإِخْوَانِ انْ يُعَيِّرُونِي

from relatives and friends lest they might have gibed me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa min al`asha'iri wal'ikhwani an yu`ayyiruniSlide430

وَمِنَ ٱلسَّلاَطِينِ انْ يُعَاقِبُونِي

and from rulers lest they might have punished me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa min alssalatini an yu`aqibuniSlide431

وَلَوِ ٱطَّلَعُوٱ يَا مَوْلاَيَ

Had they, O my Master, seen

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa law ittala`u ya mawlayaSlide432

عَلَىٰ مَا ٱطَّلَعْتَ عَلَيْهِ مِنِّي

that which You knew about me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

`ala ma ittala`ta `alayhi minniSlide433

إِذاً مَا انْظَرُونِي

they would certainly have granted me no respite

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

idhan ma anzaruniSlide434

وَلَرَفَضُونِي وَقَطَعُونِي

and they would have rejected and parted company with me.

wa larafaduni wa qata`uniSlide435

فَهَا انَا ذَا يَا إِلٰهِي

Here I am now, O my God,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

faha anadha ya ilahiSlide436

بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ يَا سَيِّدِي

between Your hands, O my Master,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bayna yadayka ya sayyidiSlide437

خَاضِعٌ ذَلِيلٌ

submissive, humble,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

khadi`un dhalilunSlide438

حَصِيرٌ حَقِيرٌ

helpless, and worthless.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hasirun haqirunSlide439

لاَ ذُو بَرَاءَةٍ فَاعْتَذِرُ

I am now lacking neither justification to apologize

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

la dhu bara'atin fa'a`tadhiruSlide440

وَلاَ ذُو قُوَّةٍ فَانْتَصِرُ

nor power to support myself,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la dhu quwwatin fa'antasiruSlide441

وَلاَ حُجَّةٍ فَاحْتَجُّ بِهَا

nor excuse to advance as a plea,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la hujjatin fa'ahtajju bihaSlide442

وَلاَ قَائِلٌ لَمْ اجْتَرِحْ وَلَمْ اعْمَلْ سُوءاً

nor can I claim not committing and not acting badly.

wa la qa'ilun lam ajtarih wa lam a`mal su'anSlide443

وَمَا عَسَىٰ ٱلْجُحُودُ وَلَوْ جَحَدْتُ يَا مَوْلاَيَ يَنْفَعُنِي

How can denial, if I deny, O my Master, serve me?

wa ma `asa aljuhudu wa law jahadtu ya mawlaya yanfa`uniSlide444

كَيْفَ وَانَّىٰ ذٰلِكَ

How and in what manner can I do so,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

kayfa wa anna dhalikaSlide445

وَجَوَارِحِي كُلُّهَا شَاهِدَةٌ عَلَيَّ بِمَا قَدْ عَمِلْتُ

while all my organs are witnesses for what I did?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa jawarihi kulliha shahidatun `alayya bima qad `amiltuSlide446

وَعَلِمْتُ يَقِيناً غَيْرَ ذِي شَكٍّ

I know for sure and without doubt

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `alimtu yaqinan ghayra dhi shakkinSlide447

انَّكَ سَائِلِي مِنْ عَظَائِمِ ٱلامُورِ

that You will interrogate me about these grand matter,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

annaka sa'ili min `aza'imi al'umuriSlide448

وَانَّكَ ٱلْحَكَمُ ٱلْعَدْلُ الَّذِي لاَ تَجُورُ

You are the Just Judge Who never wrongs,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa annaka alhakamu al`adlu alladhi la tajuruSlide449

وَعَدْلُكَ مُهْلِكِي

Your justice will ruin me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `adluka muhlikiSlide450

وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَدْلِكَ مَهْرَبِي

and from Your all justice I flee.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa min kulli `adlika mahrabiSlide451

فَإِنْ تُعَذِّبْنِي يَا إِلٰهِي

If You, O my God, chastise me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fa'in tu`adhdhibni ya ilahiSlide452

فَبِذُنُوبِي بَعْدَ حُجَّتِكَ عَلَيَّ

then it is because of my sins after Your claim against me;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fabidhunubi ba`da hujjatika `alayyaSlide453

وَإِنْ تَعْفُ عَنِّي

and if You pardon me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa in ta`fu `anniSlide454

فَبِحِلْمِكَ وَجُودِكَ وَكَرَمِكَ

then it is on account of Your forbearance, magnanimity, and generosity.

fabihilmika wa judika wa karamikaSlide455

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide456

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّالِمِينَ

I have been of the wrongdoers.

inni kuntu min alzzaliminaSlide457

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide458

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ

I have been of those seeking forgiveness.

inni kuntu min almustaghfirinaSlide459

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide460

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُوَحِّدِينَ

I have been of those professing Your Oneness.

inni kuntu min almuwahhidinaSlide461

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide462

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْخَائِفِينَ

I have been of the fearful.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

inni kuntu min alkha'ifinaSlide463

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide464

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْوَجِلِينَ

I have been of the apprehensive.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

inni kuntu min alwajilinaSlide465

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide466

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلرَّاجِينَ

I have been of those hoping (for You).

inni kuntu min alrrajinaSlide467

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide468

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلرَّاغِبِينَ

I have been of those desiring (for You).

inni kuntu min alrraghibinaSlide469

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide470

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُهَلِّلِينَ

I have been of those professing that there is no god save You.

inni kuntu min almuhallilinaSlide471

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide472

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلسَّائِلِينَ

I have been of those beseeching (You).

inni kuntu min alssa'ilinaSlide473

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide474

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَ

I have been of those glorifying (You).

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

inni kuntu min almusabbihinaSlide475

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide476

إِنِّي كُنْتُ مِنَ ٱلْمُكَبِّرِينَ

I have been of those professing that You are the Greatest.

inni kuntu min almukabbirinaSlide477

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ

There is no god save You. All glory be to You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

la ilaha illa anta subhanakaSlide478

رَبِّي وَرَبُّ آبَائِيَ ٱلاوَّلِينَ

You are my Lord and the Lord of my bygone fathers.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

rabbi wa rabbu aba'iya al-awwalinaSlide479

اللَّهُمَّ هٰذَا ثَنَائِي عَلَيْكَ مُمَجِّداً

O Allah, this is my praise for You, celebrating Your glory,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma hadha thana'i `alayka mumajjidanSlide480

وَإِخْلاصِي لِذِكْرِكَ مُوَحِّداً

my sincerity to mention You and profess Your Oneness,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ikhlasi lidhikrika muwahhidanSlide481

وَإِقْرَارِي بِآلاَئِكَ مُعَدِّداً

and my acknowledgment of Your bounties, counting them,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa iqrari bi'ala'ika mu`addidanSlide482

وَإِنْ كُنْتُ مُقِرّاً انِّي لَمْ احْصِهَا

although I confess that I could never count them

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa in kuntu muqirran anni lam uhsihaSlide483

لِكَثْرَتِهَا وَسُبُوغِهَا

for they are innumerable, abundant,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

likathratiha wa subughihaSlide484

وَتَظَاهُرِهَا وَتَقَادُمِهَا إِلَىٰ حَادِثٍ مَا

continuous, and prior to a certain event.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tazahuriha wa taqadumiha ila hadithin maSlide485

لَمْ تَزَلْ تَتَعَهَّدُنِي بِهِ مَعَهَا

You have been conferring upon me with these bounties

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

lam tazal tata`ahhaduni bihi ma`ahaSlide486

مُنْذُ خَلَقْتَنِي وَبَرَاتَنِي

since You created and originated me

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

mundhu khalaqtani wa bara'taniSlide487

مِنْ اوَّلِ ٱلْعُمْرِ

from the beginning of my age

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

min awwali al`umriSlide488

مِنَ ٱلإِغْنَاءِ مِنَ ٱلْفَقْرِ

through meeting my poverty

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

min al'ighna'i min alfaqriSlide489

وَكَشْفِ ٱلضُّرِّ

relieving me from harm,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa kashfi alddurriSlide490

وَتَسْبِيبِ ٱلْيُسْرِ

giving me means of easiness,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tasbibi alyusriSlide491

وَدَفْعِ ٱلْعُسْرِ

repelling misery from me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa daf`i al`usriSlide492

وَتَفْرِيجِ ٱلْكَرْبِ

alleviating my agonies,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tafriji alkarbiSlide493

وَٱلْعَافِيَةِ فِي ٱلْبَدَنِ

granting me wellbeing in my body,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wal`afiyati fi albadaniSlide494

وَٱلسَّلاَمَةِ فِي ٱلدِّينِ

and furnishing me with sound faith.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walssalamati fi alddiniSlide495

وَلَوْ رَفَدَنِي عَلَىٰ قَدْرِ ذِكْرِ نِعْمَتِكَ جَمِيعُ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

If all creatures assist me to be able to mention Your bounties,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa law rafadani `ala qadri dhikri ni`matika jami`u al`alaminaSlide496

مِنَ ٱلاوَّلِينَ وَٱلآخِرِينَ

including the past and the coming generations,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

min al-awwalina wal-akhirinaSlide497

مَا قَدَرْتُ وَلاَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ ذٰلِكَ

neither I nor will they be able to do that.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ma qadartu wa la hum `ala dhalikaSlide498

تَقَدَّسْتَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ

Holy be You and Exalted be You;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

taqaddasta wa ta`alaytaSlide499

مِنْ رَبٍّ كَرِيمٍ عَظِيمٍ رَحِيمٍ

You are All-generous, All-great, and All-merciful Sustainer.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

min rabbin karimin `azimin rahiminSlide500

لاَ تُحْصَىٰ آلاَؤُكَ

Your bounties are innumerable,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

la tuhsa ala'ukaSlide501

وَلاَ يُبْلَغُ ثَنَاؤُكَ

(proper) praise of You is unreachable,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la yublaghu thana'ukaSlide502

وَلاَ تُكَافَىٰ نَعْمَاؤُكَ

and Your graces cannot be rewarded.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la tukafa'u na`ma'ukaSlide503

صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

(Please) send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadinSlide504

وَاتْمِمْ عَلَيْنَا نِعَمَكَ

perfect Your bounties for us,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa atmim `alayna ni`amakaSlide505

وَاسْعِدْنَا بِطَاعَتِكَ

and make us happy by obeying You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa as`idna bita`atikaSlide506

سُبْحَانَكَ لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ

All glory be to You. There is no god save You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

subhanaka la ilaha illa antaSlide507

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ تُجِيبُ ٱلْمُضْطَرَّ

O Allah, verily, You answer the distressed,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma innaka tujibu almudtarraSlide508

وَتَكْشِفُ ٱلسُّوءَ

remove the evil,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa takshifu alssu'aSlide509

وَتُغِيثُ ٱلْمَكْرُوبَ

aid the anguished,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tughithu almakrubaSlide510

وَتَشْفِي ٱلسَّقِيمَ

cure the ailed,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tashfi alssaqimaSlide511

وَتُغْنِي ٱلْفَقِيرَ

enrich the poor,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tughni alfaqiraSlide512

وَتَجْبُرُ ٱلْكَسِيرَ

set the broken,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tajburu alkasiraSlide513

وَتَرْحَمُ ٱلصَّغِيرَ

have mercy on the young,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tarhamu alssaghiraSlide514

وَتُعِينُ ٱلْكَبِيرَ

help the old,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tu`inu alkabiraSlide515

وَلَيْسَ دُونَكَ ظَهِيرٌ

none can help against You,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa laysa dunaka zahirunSlide516

وَلاَ فَوْقَكَ قَدِيرٌ

none is more powerful than You,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la fawqaka qadirunSlide517

وَانْتَ ٱلْعَلِيُّ ٱلْكَبِيرُ

and You are the Most High, the All-great.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta al`aliyyu alkabiruSlide518

يَا مُطْلِقَ ٱلْمُكَبَّلِ ٱلاسِيرِ

O He Who release the shackled captive!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya mutliqa almukabbali al'asiriSlide519

يَا رَازِقَ ٱلطِّفْلِ ٱلصَّغِيرِ

O He Who provides sustenance to the young child!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya raziqa alttifli alssaghiriSlide520

يَا عِصْمَةَ ٱلْخَائِفِ ٱلْمُسْتَجِيرِ

O He Who is the Preserver of the afraid seeker of refuge!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya `ismata alkha'ifi almustajiriSlide521

يَا مَنْ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَلاَ وَزِيرَ

O He Who has neither partner nor assistant,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

(please) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadinSlide523

وَاعْطِنِي فِي هٰذِهِ ٱلْعَشِيَّةِ

and grant me, in this evening,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa a`tini fi hadhihi al`ashiyyatiSlide524

افْضَلَ مَا اعْطَيْتَ وَانَلْتَ

the best of what You have granted and awarded

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

afdala ma a`tayta wa analtaSlide525

احَداً مِنْ عِبَادِكَ

to any of Your servants,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ahadan min `ibadikaSlide526

مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُولِيهَا

including a grace that You donate,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

min ni`matin tulihaSlide527

وَآلاَءٍ تُجَدِّدُهَا

bounties that You re-offer,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ala'in tujaddiduhaSlide528

وَبَلِيَّةٍ تَصْرِفُهَا

a tribulation that You deter,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa baliyyatin tasrifuhaSlide529

وَكُرْبَةٍ تَكْشِفُهَا

an anguish that You remove,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa kurbatin takshifuhaSlide530

وَدَعْوَةٍ تَسْمَعُهَا

a prayer that You answer,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa da`watin tasma`uhaSlide531

وَحَسَنَةٍ تَتَقَبَّلُهَا

a good deed that You admit,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa hasanatin tataqabbaluhaSlide532

وَسَيِّئَةٍ تَتَغَمَّدُهَا

and an evildoing that You screen.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa sayyi'atin tataghammaduhaSlide533

إِنَّكَ لَطِيفٌ بِمَا تَشَاءُ خَبِيرٌ

Verily, You are All-tender to him You will, and All-aware,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

innaka latifun bima tasha'u khabirunSlide534

وَعَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْء قَدِيرٌ

and You have power over all things.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `ala kulli shay'in qadirunSlide535

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ اقْرَبُ مَنْ دُعِيَ

O Allah, Verily, You are the nearest of those whom are prayed,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma innaka aqrabu man du`iyaSlide536

وَاسْرَعُ مَنْ اجَابَ

You are the promptest of those who may respond,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa asra`u man ajabaSlide537

وَاكْرَمُ مَنْ عَفَا

the most generous of those who may pardon,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa akramu man `afaSlide538

وَاوْسَعُ مَنْ اعْطَىٰ

the most liberal of those who give,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa awsa`u man a`taSlide539

وَاسْمَعُ مَنْ سُئِلَ

and the most responding of those whom are asked.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa asma`u man su'ilaSlide540

يَا رَحْمٰنَ ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ وَرَحِيمَهُمَا

O All-beneficent of the world and the Hereafter, and All-merciful!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya rahmana alddunya wal-akhirati wa rahimahumaSlide541

لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِكَ مَسْؤُولٌ

No besought one is like You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

laysa kamithlika mas'ulunSlide542

وَلاَ سِوَاكَ مَامُولٌ

and none save You is hoped.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la siwaka ma'mulunSlide543

دَعَوْتُكَ فَاجَبْتَنِي

I prayed You and You answered me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

da`awtuka fa'ajabtaniSlide544

وَسَالْتُكَ فَاعْطَيْتَنِي

I besought You and You gave me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa sa'altuka fa'a`taytaniSlide545

وَرَغِبْتُ إِلَيْكَ فَرَحِمْتَنِي

I desired for You and You had mercy on me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa raghibtu ilayka farahimtaniSlide546

وَوَثِقْتُ بِكَ فَنَجَّيْتَنِي

I had confidence in You and You saved me.

wa wathiqtu bika fanajjaytaniSlide547

وَفَزِعْتُ إِلَيْكَ فَكَفَيْتَنِي

I resorted to You in awe and You delivered me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa fazi`tu ilayka fakafaytaniSlide548

اللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ

O Allah, (please) send blessings to Muhammad,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma fasalli `ala muhammadinSlide549

عَبْدِكَ وَرَسُولِكَ وَنَبِيِّكَ

Your servant, messenger, and prophet,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

`abdika wa rasulika wa nabiyyikaSlide550

وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ ٱلطَّيِّبِينَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ

اجْمَعِينَand to all of his Household, the pure and immaculate,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `ala alihi alttayyibina alttahirina ajma`inaSlide551

وَتَمِّمْ لَنَا نَعْمَاءَكَ

and perfect for us Your graces,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tammim lana na`ma'akaSlide552

وَهَنِّئْنَا عَطَاءَكَ

make us taste the pleasure of Your gifts,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa hanni'na `ata'akaSlide553

وَٱكْتُبْنَا لَكَ شَاكِرِينَ

and register us as thankful for You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

waktubna laka shakirinaSlide554

وَلآِلاَئِكَ ذَاكِرِينَ

and as oft-referring to You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa li'ala'ika dhakirinaSlide555

آمِينَ آمِينَ رَبَّ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ

Respond, respond! O Lord of the worlds!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

amina amina rabba al`alaminaSlide556

اللَّهُمَّ يَا مَنْ مَلَكَ فَقَدَرَ

O Allah, Who owns; therefore, He controls,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma ya man malaka faqadaraSlide557

وَقَدَرَ فَقَهَرَ

and controls; therefore, He has absolute authority,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa qadara faqaharaSlide558

وَعُصِيَ فَسَتَرَ

and is disobeyed; yet, He covers,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `usiya fasataraSlide559

وَٱسْتُغْفِرَ فَغَفَرَ

and is prayed for forgiveness; therefore, He forgives.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wastughfira faghafaraSlide560

يَا غَايَةَ ٱلطَّالِبِينَ ٱلرَّاغِبِينَ

O He Who is the aim of seekers and desirers

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya ghayata alttalibina alrraghibinaSlide561

وَمُنْتَهَىٰ امَلِ ٱلرَّاجِينَ

and the ultimate purpose of the hope of hopers!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa muntaha amali alrrajinaSlide562

يَا مَنْ احَاطَ بِكُلِّ شَيْء عِلْماً

O He Who encompasses all things in knowledge

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man ahata bikulli shay'in `ilmanSlide563

وَوَسِعَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيلِينَ رَافَةً وَرَحْمَةً وَحِلْماً

and covers those who quit (their sins) with tender, mercy, and forbearance!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa wasi`a almustaqilina ra'fatan wa rahmatan wa hilmanSlide564

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ فِي هٰذِهِ ٱلْعَشِيَّةِ

O Allah, we turn our faces to You in this evening

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma inna natawajjahu ilayka fi hadhihi al`ashiyyatiSlide565

ٱلَّتِي شَرَّفْتَهَا وَعَظَّمْتَهَا

that You deem honorable and reverential

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allati sharraftaha wa `azzamtahaSlide566

بِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّكَ وَرَسُولِكَ

(asking You) in the name of Muhammad, Your Prophet, Messenger,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bimuhammadin nabiyyika wa rasulikaSlide567

وَخِيَرَتِكَ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

the best of Your creation,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa khiyaratika min khalqikaSlide568

وَامِينِكَ عَلَىٰ وَحْيِكَ

Your trustee on Your Revelation,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa aminika `ala wahyikaSlide569

ٱلْبَشِيرِ ٱلنَّذِيرِ

the bearer of glad tidings, the warner,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

albashiri alnnadhiriSlide570

ٱلسِّرَاجِ ٱلْمُنِيرِ

and the shining lantern,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alssiraji almuniriSlide571

ٱلَّذِي انْعَمْتَ بِهِ عَلَىٰ ٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ

with whom You have conferred upon the Muslims,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alladhi an`amta bihi `ala almusliminaSlide572

وَجَعَلْتَهُ رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ

and whom You made mercy for the worlds.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ja`altahu rahmatan lil`alaminaSlide573

اللَّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

So, O Allah, bless Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma fasalli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadinSlide574

كَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ اهْلٌ لِذٰلِكَ مِنْكَ يَا عَظِيمُ

forasmuch as Muhammad deserves that from You, O All-great.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

kama muhammadun ahlun lidhalika minka ya `azimuSlide575

فَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ آلِهِ

So, (please) send blessings to him and his Household,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fasalli `alayhi wa `ala alihiSlide576

ٱلْمُنْتَجَبِينَ ٱلطَّيِّبِينَ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ اجْمَعِينَ

the elite, pure, and immaculate—all of them,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

almuntajabina alttayyibina alttahirina ajma`inaSlide577

وَتَغَمَّدْنَا بِعَفْوِكَ عَنَّا

and encompass us with Your pardoning us.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa taghammadna bi`afwika `annaSlide578

فَإِلَيْكَ عَجَّتِ ٱلاصْوَاتُ بِصُنُوفِ ٱللُّغَاتِ

To You are the voices of various languages clamoring;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fa'ilayka `ajjat al'aswatu bisunufi allughatiSlide579

فَٱجْعَلْ لَنَا ٱللَّهُمَّ فِي هٰذِهِ

ٱلْعَشِيَّةِso, decide for us, O Allah, in this evening

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

faj`al lana allahumma fi hadhihi al`ashiyyatiSlide580

نَصِيباً مِنْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ تَقْسِمُهُ بَيْنَ عِبَادِكَ

a share from every good item that You distribute among Your servants,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

nasiban min kulli khayrin taqsimuhu bayna `ibadikaSlide581

وَنُورٍ تَهْدِي بِهِ

illumination by which You guide,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa nurin tahdi bihiSlide582

وَرَحْمَةٍ تَنْشُرُهَا

mercy that You spread,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa rahmatin tanshuruhaSlide583

وَبَرَكَةٍ تُنْزِلُهَا

blessing that You bring down,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa barakatin tunziluhaSlide584

وَعَافِيَةٍ تُجَلِّلُهَا

wellbeing that You extend,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `afiyatin tujalliluhaSlide585

وَرِزْقٍ تَبْسُطُهُ

and sustenance that You stretch,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa rizqin tabsutuhuSlide586

يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya arhama alrrahiminaSlide587

اللَّهُمَّ اقْلِبْنَا فِي هٰذَا ٱلْوَقْتِ

O Allah, turn us in this hour

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma aqlibna fi hadha alwaqtiSlide588

مُنْجِحِينَ مُفْلِحِينَ

successful, flourishing,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

munjihina muflihinaSlide589

مَبْرُورِينَ غَانِمِينَ

blessed, and gainers.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

mabrurina ghaniminaSlide590

وَلاَ تَجْعَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلْقَانِطِينَ

Do not include us with the despondent.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la taj`alna min alqanitinaSlide591

وَلاَ تُخْلِنَا مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ

Do not leave us without Your mercy.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la tukhlina min rahmatikaSlide592

وَلاَ تَحْرِمْنَا مَا نُؤَمِّلُهُ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

Do not deprive us of that which we hope from Your favor.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la tahrimna ma nu'ammiluhu min fadlikaSlide593

وَلاَ تَجْعَلْنَا مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ مَحْرُومِينَ

Do not make us deprived of Your mercy,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la taj`alna min rahmatika mahruminaSlide594

وَلاَ لِفَضْلِ مَا نُؤَمِّلُهُ مِنْ عَطَائِكَ قَانِطِينَ

or despair of the favor of what we hope from Your gifts.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la lifadli ma nu'ammiluhu min `ata'ika qanitinaSlide595

وَلاَ تَرُدَّنَا خَائِبِينَ

Do not turns us down disappointed

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la taruddana kha'ibinaSlide596

وَلاَ مِنْ بَابِكَ مَطْرُودِينَ

or driven away from Your door.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la min babika matrudinaSlide597

يَا اجْوَدَ ٱلاجْوَدِينَ

O most Magnanimous of all those who treat magnanimously

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya ajwada al-ajwadinaSlide598

وَاكْرَمَ ٱلاكْرَمِينَ

and most Generous of all those who act generously!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa akrama al-akraminaSlide599

إِلَيْكَ اقْبَلْنَا مُوقِنِينَ

To You are we advancing with full conviction

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilayka aqbalna muqininaSlide600

وَلِبَيْتِكَ ٱلْحَرَامِ آمِّينَ قَاصِدِينَ

and to Your Holy House are we betaking ourselves purposefully;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa libaytika alharami ammina qasidinaSlide601

فَاعِنَّا عَلَىٰ مَنَاسِكِنَا

So, (please) help us do our rituals (perfectly)

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fa'a`inna `ala manasikinaSlide602

وَاكْمِلْ لَنَا حَجَّنَا

perfect for us our pilgrimage

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa akmil lana hajjanaSlide603

وَٱعْفُ عَنَّا وَعَافِنَا

pardon us, and grant us wellbeing.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa`fu `anna wa `afinaSlide604

فَقَدْ مَدَدْنَا إِلَيْكَ ايْدِيَنَا

We are stretching our hands toward You;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

faqad madadna ilayka aydiyanaSlide605

فَهِيَ بِذِلَّةِ ٱلاِﹾعْتِرَافِ مَوْسُومَةٌ

so, they are marked by the humiliation of confession.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fahiya bidhillati ali`tirafi mawsumatunSlide606

اللَّهُمَّ فَاعْطِنَا فِي هٰذِهِ ٱلْعَشِيَّةِ مَا سَالْنَاكَ

O Allah, grant us in this evening that which we have besought from You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma fa'a`tina fi hadhihi al`ashiyyati ma sa'alnakaSlide607

وَٱكْفِنَا مَا ٱسْتَكْفَيْنَاكَ

and save us from that which we have besought You to save us;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wakfina ma istakfaynakaSlide608

فَلاَ كَافِيَ لَنَا سِوَاكَ

for we have no savior but You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fala kafiya lana siwakaSlide609

وَلاَ رَبَّ لَنَا غَيْرُكَ

and we have no sustainer but You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la rabba lana ghayrukaSlide610

نَافِذٌ فِينَا حُكْمُكَ

Your decree is prevalent on us,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

nafidhun fina hukmukaSlide611

مُحِيطٌ بِنَا عِلْمُكَ

Your knowledge is encompassing us,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

muhitun bina `ilmukaSlide612

عَدْلٌ فِينَا قَضَاؤُكَ

and Your decisions about us is just.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

`adlun fina qada'ukaSlide613

إِقْضِ لَنَا ٱلْخَيْرَ

(Please) decree for us that which is good

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

iqdi lana alkhayraSlide614

وَٱجْعَلْنَا مِنْ اهْلِ ٱلْخَيْرِ

and make us of the people of goodness.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

waj`alna min ahli alkhayriSlide615

اللَّهُمَّ اوْجِبْ لَنَا بِجُودِكَ عَظِيمَ ٱلاجْرِ

O Allah, decide for us, on account of Your magnanimity, a great reward,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma awjib lana bijudika `azima al'ajriSlide616

وَكَرِيمَ ٱلذُّخْرِ

a generous reserve,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa karima aldhdhikhriSlide617

وَدَوَامَ ٱلْيُسْرِ

and a permanent easiness,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa dawama alyusriSlide618

وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا ذُنُوبَنَا اجْمَعِينَ

and forgive us all our sins,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

waghfir lana dhunubana ajma`inaSlide619

وَلاَ تُهْلِكْنَا مَعَ ٱلْهَالِكِينَ

do not annihilate us with those annihilated,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la tuhlikna ma`a alhalikinaSlide620

وَلاَ تَصْرِفْ عَنَّا رَافَتَكَ وَرَحْمَتَكَ

and do not drive away from us Your tenderness and mercy;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la tasrif `anna ra'fataka wa rahmatakaSlide621

يَا ارْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya arhama alrrahiminaSlide622

اللَّهُمَّ ٱجْعَلْنَا فِي هٰذَا ٱلْوَقْتِ

مِمَّنْ سَالَكَ فَاعْطَيْتَهُO Allah, include us, at this hour, with them who besought You and You thus gave them,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma ij`alna fi hadha alwaqti mimman sa'alaka fa'a`taytahuSlide623

وَشَكَرَكَ فَزِدْتَهُ

who thanked You and You thus increased them,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa shakaraka fazidtahuSlide624

وَثَابَ إِلَيْكَ فَقَبِلْتَهُ

who returned to You and You thus accepted them,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa thaba ilayka faqabiltahuSlide625

وَتَنَصَّلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ ذُنُوبِهِ كُلِّهَا فَغَفَرْتَهَا لَهُ

and who renounced all their sins before You and You thus forgave them;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tanassala ilayka min dhunubihi kulliha faghafartaha lahuSlide626

يَا ذَا ٱلْجَلاَلِ وَٱلاِكْرَامِ

O Lord of Majesty and Honor!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya dhaljalali wal-ikramiSlide627

اللَّهُمَّ وَنَقِّنَا وَسَدِّدْنَا

O Allah, purify us and lead us to success

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma wa naqqina wa saddidnaSlide628

وَٱقْبَلْ تَضَرُّعَنَا

and admit our earnest entreaty;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

waqbal tadarru`anaSlide629

يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ سُئِلَ

O He Who is the best of all those who are besought

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya khayra man su'ilaSlide630

وَيَا ارْحَمَ مَنِ ٱسْتُرْحِمَ

and most Merciful of all those whose mercy is sought!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ya arhama man isturhimaSlide631

يَا مَنْ لاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْهِ إِغْمَاضُ ٱلْجُفُونِ

O He from Whom the closing of eyelids cannot be hidden,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man la yakhfa `alayhi ighmadu aljufuniSlide632

وَلاَ لَحْظُ ٱلْعُيُونِ

nor are the glances of eyes,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la lahzu al`uyuniSlide633

وَلاَ مَا ٱسْتَقَرَّ فِي ٱلْمَكْنُونِ

nor is that which settles in the unseen,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la ma istaqarra fi almaknuniSlide634

وَلاَ مَا ٱنْطَوَتْ عَلَيْهِ مُضْمَرَاتُ ٱلْقُلُوبِ

nor are things vanished under the secrets of hearts.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la ma intawat `alayhi mudmaratu alqulubiSlide635

الاَ كُلُّ ذٰلِكَ قَدْ احْصَاهُ عِلْمُكَ

Verily, all that has been encompassed by Your knowledge

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ala kullu dhalika qad ahsahu `ilmukaSlide636

وَوَسِعَهُ حِلْمُكَ

and covered by Your forbearance.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa wasi`ahu hilmukaSlide637

سُبْحَانَكَ وَتَعَالَيْتَ عَمَّا يَقُولُ ٱلظَّالِمُونَ

All glory be to You; and Exalted be You above all that the wrongdoers say,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

subhanaka wa ta`alayta `amma yaqulu alzzalimunaSlide638

عُلُوّاً كَبِيراً

in high exaltation!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

`uluwwan kabiranSlide639

تُسَبِّحُ لَكَ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتُ ٱلسَّبْعُ

Declaring You glory are the seven heavens,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

tusabbihu laka alssamawatu alssab`uSlide640

وَٱلارَضُونَ وَمَنْ فِيهِنَّ

the (layers of the) earth, and all beings therein.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wal-araduna wa man fihinnaSlide641

وَإِنْ مِنْ شَيْء إِلاَّ يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِكَ

There is not a thing but celebrates Your praise.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa in min shay'in illa yusabbihu bihamdikaSlide642

فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ وَٱلْمَجْدُ

Yours are all praise, glory,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

falaka alhamdu walmajduSlide643

وَعُلُوُّ ٱلْجَدِّ

and exaltation of majesty.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `uluwwu aljaddiSlide644

يَا ذَا ٱلْجَلاَلِ وَٱلاِكْرَامِ

O Owner of majesty, honor,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya dhaljalali wal-ikramiSlide645

وَٱلْفَضْلِ وَٱلاِنْعَامِ

grace, favoring,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

walfadli wal-in`amiSlide646

وَٱلايَادِي ٱلْجِسَامِ

and huge bestowals.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wal-ayadi aljisamiSlide647

وَانْتَ ٱلْجَوَادُ ٱلْكَرِيمُ

You are the All-magnanimous, the All-generous,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta aljawadu alkarimuSlide648

ٱلرَّؤُوفُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

the All-tender, the All-merciful.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

alrra'ufu alrrahimuSlide649

اللَّهُمَّ اوْسِعْ عَلَيَّ مِنْ رِزْقِكَ ٱلْحَلاَلِ

O Allah, provide me largely with Your legally gotten sustenance,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma awsi` `alayya min rizqika alhalaliSlide650

وَعَافِنِي فِي بَدَنِي وَدِينِي

grant me wellbeing in my body and my faith,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `afini fi badani wa diniSlide651

وَآمِنْ خَوْفِي

secure my fears,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa amin khawfiSlide652

وَاعْتِقْ رَقَبَتِي مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ

and release me from Hellfire.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa i`tiq raqabati min alnnariSlide653

اللَّهُمَّ لاَ تَمْكُرْ بِي

O Allah, (please) do not plan against me,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

allahumma la tamkur biSlide654

وَلاَ تَسْتَدْرِجْنِي

do not draw me near to destruction,

وَلاَ تَخْدَعْنِي

do not overreach me,

وَٱدْرَا عَنِّي شَرَّ فَسَقَةِ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلإِنْسِ

and drive away from me the evils of the corruptive Jinn and men.

يَا اسْمَعَ ٱلسَّامِعِينَ

O most Hearing of all those who can hear!

Imam Husain (á) then raised his head and

looking towards sky

with teary

eyes, said

يَا ابْصَرَ ٱلنَّاظِرِينَ

O most Seeing of all those who can see!

ya absara alnnazirinaSlide659

وَيَا اسْرَعَ ٱلْحَاسِبِينَ

O swiftest of all those who call to account!

wa ya asra`a alhasibinaSlide660

وَيَا ارحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ

O most Merciful of all those who show mercy!

wa ya arhama alrrahiminaSlide661

صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

(Please) send blessings to Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

salli `ala muhammadin wa ali muhammadinSlide662

ٱلسَّادَةِ ٱلْمَيَامِينِ

the auspicious chiefs;

alssadati almayaminiSlide663

وَاسْالُكَ ٱللَّهُمَّ حَاجَتِيَ

and I beseech You for my request

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa as'aluka allahumma hajatiSlide664

ٱلَّتِي إِنْ اعْطَيْتَنِيهَا لَمْ يَضُرَّنِي مَا مَنَعْتَنِي

that if You answer, anything else that You reject will not harm me

allati in a`taytaniha lam yadurrani ma mana`taniSlide665

وَإِنْ مَنَعْتَنِيهَا لَمْ يَنْفَعْنِي مَا اعْطَيْتَنِي

and if You reject, anything else that You respond will not benefit me.

wa in mana`taniha lam yanfa`ni ma a`taytaniSlide666

اسْالُكَ فَكَاكَ رَقَبَتِي مِنَ ٱلنَّارِ

I beseech You for releasing me from Hellfire.

as'aluka fakaka raqabati min alnnariSlide667

لاَ إِلٰهَ إِلاَّ انْتَ

There is no god save You,

la ilaha illa antaSlide668

وَحْدَكَ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَكَ

only You, there is no partner with You.

wahdaka la sharika lakaSlide669

لَكَ ٱلْمُلْكُ وَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ

To You is the kingdom and to You is all praise,

laka almulku wa laka alhamduSlide670

وَانْتَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْء قَدِيرٌ

and You have power over all things.

يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبّ يَا رَبّ…

O my Lord! O my Lord! O my Lord…

Imam Husain (á) then repeated ya

-rabbi so frequently and effectively that he attracted the attentions of all the others who, instead of praying for granting their needs, surrounded Imam Husain (á) to listen to him and pray for the response of his supplication. Then, they wept with him. At sunset, they left Mount `Arafat with him.This is the end of Imam Husain’s supplicatory prayer on the `Arafat Day according to the narrations of al-Kaf`ami in his book of al-Balad al-Amin and `Allamah al-Majlisi in his book of Zad al-Ma`ad. As for Sayyid Ibn Tawus, he, in his book of Iqbal al-A`mal

, adds the following statements to the supplicatory prayer:

إِلٰهِي انَا ٱلْفَقِيرُ فِي غِنَايَ

O my God, I am needy despite my richness;

ilahi ana alfaqiru fi ghinayaSlide674

فَكَيْفَ لا اكُونُ فَقِيراً فِي فَقْرِي؟

so, how can I not be needy in my neediness?

fakayfa la akunu faqiran fi faqriSlide675

إِلٰهِي انَا ٱلْجَاهِلُ فِي عِلْمِي

O my God, I am ignorant despite my knowledge;

ilahi ana aljahilu fi `ilmiSlide676

فَكَيْفَ لاَ اكُونُ جَهُولاً فِي جَهْلِي؟

so, how can I not be ignorant in my ignorance?

fakayfa la akunu jahulan fi jahliSlide677

إِلٰهِي إِنَّ ٱخْتِلاَفَ تَدْبِيرِكَ

O my God, the variety of Your regulating of matters

ilahi inna ikhtilafa tadbirikaSlide678

وَسُرْعَةَ طَوَاءِ مَقَادِيرِكَ

and the swiftness of changes in Your ordainments

wa sur`ata tawa'i maqadirikaSlide679

مَنَعَا عِبَادَكَ ٱلْعَارِفِينَ بِكَ

have urged Your servants, who recognize You,

mana`a `ibadaka al`arifina bikaSlide680

عَنِ ٱلسُّكُونِ إِلَىٰ عَطَاءٍ

not to stop at a certain gift

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

`an alsskuni ila `ata'inSlide681

وَٱلْيَاسِ مِنْكَ فِي بَلاَءٍ

and not to despair of You in tribulations.

Walya'si minka fi bala'inSlide682

إِلٰهِي مِنِّي مَا يَلِيقُ بِلُؤْمِي

O my God, coming out of me is that which fits my lowliness;

ilahi minni ma yaliqu bilu'miSlide683

وَمِنْكَ مَا يَلِيقُ بِكَرَمِكَ

but coming from You is that which befits Your nobleness.

wa minka ma yaliqu bikaramikaSlide684

إِلٰهِي وَصَفْتَ نَفْسَكَ بِٱللُّطْفِ وَٱلرَّافَةِ لِي

O my God, You had ascribed to Yourself gentleness and kindness to me

ilahi wasafta nafsaka billutfi walrra'fati liSlide685

قَبْلَ وُجُودِ ضَعْفِي

before the existence of my weakness.

qabla wujudi da`fiSlide686

افَتَمْنَعُنِي مِنْهُمَا بَعْدَ وُجُودِ ضَعْفِي؟

Will You deprive me of these two after the emergence of my weakness?

afatamna`uni minhuma ba`da wujudi da`fiSlide687

إِلٰهِي إِنْ ظَهَرَتِ ٱلْمَحَاسِنُ مِنِّي

O my God, if amenities appear in my conduct,

ilahi in zaharat almahasinu minniSlide688

فَبِفَضْلِكَ وَلَكَ ٱلْمِنَّةُ عَلَيَّ

then that is on account of Your favors and Your conferral on me.

fabifadlika wa laka alminnatu `alayyaSlide689

وَإِنْ ظَهَرَتِ ٱلْمَسَاوِئُ مِنِّي

If evildoings appear in my conduct,

wa in zaharat almasawi'u minniSlide690

فَبِعَدْلِكَ وَلَكَ ٱلْحُجَّةُ عَلَيَّ

then that is still Your justice and You have claim against me.

fabi`adlika wa laka alhujjatu `alayyaSlide691

إِلٰهِي كَيْفَ تَكِلُنِي وَقَدْ تَكَفَّلْتَ لِي؟

O my God, how may it be that You abandon me after You have vouched for me?

ilahi kayfa takiluni wa qad takaffalta liSlide692

وَكَيْفَ اضَامُ وَانْتَ ٱلنَّاصِرُ لِي؟

How may I be aggrieved and You are my support?

wa kayfa udamu wa anta alnnasiru liSlide693

امْ كَيْفَ اخِيبُ وَانْتَ ٱلْحَفِيُّ بِي؟

How may I be disappointed and You are undertaking my affairs?

am kayfa akhibu wa anta alhafiyyu biSlide694

هَا انَا اتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ بِفَقْرِي إِلَيْكَ

Here I am begging You by my need for You.

ha ana atawassalu ilayka bifaqri ilaykaSlide695

وَكَيْفَ اتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ

How can I beg You

بِمَا هُوَ مَحَالٌ انْ يَصِلَ إِلَيْكَ؟

by something that is impossible to reach You?

bima huwa mahalun an yasila ilaykaSlide697

امْ كَيْفَ اشْكُو إِلَيْكَ حَالِي

How can I complain to You about my manners

وَهُوَ لاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْكَ؟

while they cannot be hidden from You?

امْ كَيْفَ اتَرْجِمُ بِمَقَالِي

How can I interpret my words

am kayfa utarjimu bimaqaliSlide700

وَهُوَ مِنْكَ بَرَزٌ إِلَيْكَ؟

while You are their source?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa huwa minka barazun ilaykaSlide701

امْ كَيْفَ تُخَيِّبُ آمَالِي

How come that You may let down my hopes,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

am kayfa tukhayyibu amaliSlide702

وَهِيَ قَدْ وَفَدَتْ إِلَيْكَ؟

while they are addressed to You?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa hiya qad wafadat ilaykaSlide703

امْ كَيْفَ لاَ تُحْسِنُ احْوَالِي

How come that You may not improve my conditions

am kayfa la tuhsinu ahwaliSlide704

وَبِكَ قَامَتْ

while they are originated by You?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa bika qamatSlide705

إِلٰهِي مَا الْطَفَكَ بِي

O my God, how gentle You are to me

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi ma altafaka biSlide706

مَعَ عَظِيمِ جَهْلِي

despite my notorious ignorance!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ma`a `azimi jahliSlide707

وَمَا ارْحَمَكَ بِي

How merciful You are to me

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ma arhamaka biSlide708

مَعَ قَبِيحِ فِعْلِي

despite my hideous deeds!

ma`a qabihi fi`liSlide709

إِلٰهِي مَا اقْرَبَكَ مِنِّي

O my God, how nigh to me You are

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi ma aqrabaka minniSlide710

وَابْعَدَنِي عَنْكَ

and how far from You I am!

wa ab`adani `ankaSlide711

وَمَا ارْافَكَ بِي

How kind to me You are;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ma ar'afaka biSlide712

فَمَا ٱلَّذِي يَحْجُبُنِي عَنْكَ؟

so, what is that which can prevent me from You?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fama alladhi yahjubuni `ankaSlide713

إِلٰهِي عَلِمْتُ بِٱخْتِلاَفِ ٱلآثَارِ

O my God, I have known, through variety of signs

ilahi `alimtu bikhtilafi al'athariSlide714

وَتَنَقُّلاَتِ ٱلاطْوَارِ

and changes of phases,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa tanaqqulati al'atwariSlide715

انَّ مُرَادَكَ مِنِّي انْ تَتَعَرَّفَ إِلَيَّ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

that what You want from me is that You introduce Yourself to me in all things

anna muradaka minni an tata`arrafa ilayya fi kulli shay'inSlide716

حَتَّىٰ لا اجْهَلَكَ فِي شَيْءٍ

so that I will not ignore You in any thing.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hatta la ajhalaka fi shay'inSlide717

إِلٰهِي كُلَّمَا اخْرَسَنِي لُؤْمِي

O my God, whenever my lowliness suppresses my voice,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi kullama akhrasani lu'miSlide718

انْطَقَنِي كَرَمُكَ

Your nobility encourages me to speak.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

antaqani karamukaSlide719

وَكُلَّمَا آيَسَتْنِي اوْصَافِي

Whenever my features lead me to despair (of You),

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa kullama ayasatni awsafiSlide720

اطْمَعَتْنِي مِنَنُكَ

Your bestowals make me crave for You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

atma`atni minanukaSlide721

إِلٰهِي مَنْ كَانَتْ مَحَاسِنُهُ مَسَاوِئَ

O my God, as for he whose good deeds are wrongdoings;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi man kanat mahasinuhu masawi'aSlide722

فَكَيْفَ لاَ تَكُونُ مَسَاوئُهُ مَسَاوِئَ؟

how can his wrongdoings not be wrongdoings?

fakayfa la takunu masawi'uhu masawi'aSlide723

وَمَنْ كَانَتْ حَقَائِقُهُ دَعَاوِيَ

As for he whose facts are mere claims,

wa man kanat haqa'iquhu da`awiyaSlide724

فَكَيْفَ لاَ تَكُونُ دَعَاوَاهُ دَعَاوِيَ؟

how can his claims not be claims?

fakayfa la takunu da`awahu da`awiyaSlide725

إِلٰهِي حُكْمُكَ ٱلنَّافِذُ وَمَشِيئَتُكَ ٱلْقَاهِرَةُ

O my God, Your unstoppable decree and Your surmounting volition

ilahi hukmuka alnnafidhu wa mashi'atuka alqahiratuSlide726

لَمْ يَتْرُكَا لِذِي مَقَالٍ مَقَالاً

have not left any word to be said by any orator

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

lam yatruka lidhi maqalin maqalanSlide727

وَلاَ لِذِي حَالٍ حَالاً

and have not left any manner to be displayed.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa la lidhi halin halanSlide728

إِلٰهِي كَمْ مِنْ طَاعَةٍ بَنَيْتُهَا

O my God, too many are the acts of obedience that I have prepared

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi kam min ta`atin banaytuhaSlide729

وَحَالَةٍ شَيَّدْتُهَا

and the conducts that I have established,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa halatin shayyadtuhaSlide730

هَدَمَ ٱعْتِمَادِي عَلَيْهَا عَدْلُكَ

but Your justice has ruined my reliance on these,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hadama i`timadi `alayha `adlukaSlide731

بَلْ اقَالَنِي مِنْهَا فَضْلُكَ

and, moreover, Your favoring has made me abandon them.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bal aqalani minha fadlukaSlide732

إِلٰهِي إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ

O my God, You surely know

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi innaka ta`lamuSlide733

انِّي وَإِنْ لَمْ تَدُمِ ٱلطَّاعَةُ مِنِّي فِعْلاً جَزْماً

that even my obedience (to You) has not lasted in reality,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

anni wa in lam tadum altta`atu minni fi`lan jazmanSlide734

فَقَدْ دَامَتْ مَحَبَّةً وَعَزْماً

it has lasted in love (for it) and determination (to do it)!

faqad damat mahabbatan wa `azmanSlide735

إِلٰهِي كَيْفَ اعْزِمُ وَانْتَ ٱلْقَاهِرُ؟

O my God, how can I determine, while You are All-supreme?

ilahi kayfa a`zimu wa anta alqahiruSlide736

وَكَيْفَ لاَ اعْزِمُ وَانْتَ ٱلآمِرُ؟

How can I quit determining, while it is Your command (to determine)?

wa kayfa la a`zimu wa anta al'amiruSlide737

إِلٰهِي تَرَدُّدِي فِي ٱلآثَارِ

O my God, my hesitation in (following) Your traces

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi taraddudi fi al'athariSlide738

يُوجِبُ بُعْدَ ٱلْمَزَارِ

will result in unlikely visitation;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

yujibu bu`da almazariSlide739

فَٱجْمَعْنِي عَلَيْكَ بِخِدْمَةٍ تُوصِلُنِي إِلَيْكَ

so, (please) join me to You through a service that takes me to You.

fajma`ni `alayka bikhidmatin tusiluni ilaykaSlide740

كَيْفَ يُسْتَدَلُّ عَلَيْكَ بِمَا هُوَ فِي وُجُودِهِ مُفْتَقِرٌ إِلَيْكَ؟

How can You be figured out through that whose existence relies on You?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

kayfa yustadallu `alayka bima huwa fi wujudihi muftaqirun ilaykaSlide741

ايَكُونُ لِغَيْرِكَ مِنَ ٱلظُّهُورِ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ

Can any thing other than You hold a (kind of) manifestation that You lack

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ayakunu lighayrika min alzzuhuri ma laysa lakaSlide742

حَتَّىٰ يَكُونَ هُوَ ٱلْمُظْهِرَ لَكَ؟

and thus it may act as an appearance for You?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hatta yakuna huwa almuzhira lakaSlide743

مَتَىٰ غِبْتَ حَتَّىٰ تَحْتَاجَ إِلَىٰ دَلِيلٍ يَدُلُّ عَلَيْكَ؟

When have You ever been absent so that You may need something to point to You?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

mata ghibta hatta tahtaja ila dalilin yadullu `alaykaSlide744

وَمَتَىٰ بَعُدْتَ حَتَّىٰ تَكُونَ ٱلآثَارُ هِيَ

ٱلَّتِي تُوصِلُ إِلَيْكَ؟When have You ever been far-off so that traces may lead to You?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa mata ba`udta hatta takuna al'atharu hiya allati tusilu ilaykaSlide745

عَمِيَتْ عَيْنٌ لاَ تَرَاكَ عَلَيْهَا رَقِيباً

Blind be the eye that cannot see You watching it.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

`amiyat `aynun la taraka `alayha raqibanSlide746

وَخَسِرَتْ صَفْقَةُ عَبْدٍ لَمْ تَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ حُبِّكَ نَصِيباً

Losing is a servant’s deal that does not dedicate a share to the love for You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa khasirat safqatu `abdin lam taj`al lahu min hubbika nasibanSlide747

إِلٰهِي امَرْتَ بِٱلرُّجُوعِ إِلَىٰ

ٱلآثَارِO my God, You have ordered us to refer to the traces;

ilahi amarta bilrrju`i ila al'athariSlide748

فَٱرْجِعْنِي إِلَيْكَ بِكِسْوَةِ ٱلانْوَارِ

therefore, (please do) make me refer to You with the garb of lights

fa'arji`ni ilayka bikiswati al'anwariSlide749

وَهِدَايَةِ ٱلاِﹾسْتِبْصَارِ

and the guidance of insight

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa hidayati alistibsariSlide750

حَتَّىٰ ارْجِعَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْهَا كَمَا دَخَلْتُ إِلَيْكَ مِنْهَا

so that I will return to You in the same way as I have entered to You from them

hatta arji`a ilayka minha kama dakhaltu ilayka minhaSlide751

مَصُونَ ٱلسِّرِّ عَنِ ٱلنَّظَرِ إِلَيْهَا

as being too protected to look at them

masuna alssirri `an alnnazari ilayhaSlide752

وَمَرْفُوعَ ٱلْهِمَّةِ عَنِ ٱلاِﹾعْتِمَادِ عَلَيْهَا

and too determining to depend upon them,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa marfu`a alhimmati `an ali`timadi `alayhaSlide753

إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْء قَدِيرٌ

for You have power over all things.

innaka `ala kulli shay'in qadirunSlide754

إِلٰهِي هٰذَا ذُلِّي ظَاهِرٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

O my God, this is my humiliation; it manifests itself before You.

ilahi hadha dhulli zahirun bayna yadaykaSlide755

وَهٰذَا حَالِي لاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْكَ

This is my manner; it cannot be concealed against You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa hadha hali la yakhfa `alaykaSlide756

مِنْكَ اطْلُبُ ٱلْوُصُولَ إِلَيْكَ

From You do I beseech soaring to You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

minka atlubu alwusula ilaykaSlide757

وَبِكَ اسْتَدِلَّ عَلَيْكَ

and through You do I take the way to You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa bika astadillu `alaykaSlide758

فَٱهْدِنِي بِنُورِكَ إِلَيْكَ

So, (please do) guide me to You through Your Light

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fahdini binurika ilaykaSlide759

وَاقِمْنِي بِصِدْقِ ٱلْعُبُودِيَّةِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ

and make me stand up before Your Hands with the true servitude to You.

wa aqimni bisidqi al`ubudiyyati bayna yadaykaSlide760

إِلٰهِي عَلِّمْنِي مِنْ عِلْمِكَ ٱلْمَخْزُونِ

O my God, (please do) teach me from Your veiled knowledge

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi `allimni min `ilmika almakhzuniSlide761

وَصُنِّي بِسِتْرِكَ ٱلْمَصُونِ

and protect me with Your shielding shelter.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa sunni bisitrika almasuniSlide762

إِلٰهِي حَقِّقْنِي بِحَقَائِقِ اهْلِ ٱلْقُرْبِ

O my God, (please do) grant me the realities that are enjoyed by the people who are near to You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi haqqiqni bihaqa'iqi ahli alqurbiSlide763

وَٱسْلُكْ بِي مَسْلَكَ اهْلِ ٱلْجَذْبِ

and make me follow the course of the people who are attracted to You.

wasluk bi maslaka ahli aljadhbiSlide764

إِلٰهِي اغْنِنِي بِتَدْبِيرِكَ لِي عَنْ تَدْبِيرِي

O my God, make Your management of my affairs replace my management of my affairs,

ilahi aghnini bitadbirika li `an tadbiriSlide765

وَبِٱخْتِيَارِكَ عَنِ ٱخْتِيَارِي

make Your choice for me replace my choice for myself,

wa bikhtiyarika `an ikhtiyariSlide766

وَاوْقِفْنِي عَلَىٰ مَرَاكِزِ ٱضْطِرَارِي

and make me stop at the points of emergency.

wa awqifni `ala marakizi idtirariSlide767

إِلٰهِي اخْرِجْنِي مِنْ ذُلِّ نَفْسِي

O my God, (please do) take my out of the humiliation of myself

ilahi akhrijni min dhulli nafsiSlide768

وَطَهِّرْنِي مِنْ شَكِّي وَشِرْكِي

and purify me from my suspicion and polytheism

wa tahhirni min shakki wa shirkiSlide769

قَبْلَ حُلُولِ رَمْسِي

before I enter my grave.

qabla hululi ramsiSlide770

بِكَ انْتَصِرُ فَٱنْصُرْنِي

Only through You do I achieve victory; so, (please do) give me victory.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

bika antasiru fansurniSlide771

وَعَلَيْكَ اتَوَكَّلُ فَلاَ تَكِلْنِي

Only upon You do I rely; so, do not refer me to anyone else.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa `alayka atawakkalu fala takilniSlide772

وَإِيَّاكَ اسْالُ فَلاَ تُخَيِّبْنِي

Only You do I beseech; so, do not disappoint me.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa iyyaka as'alu fala tukhayyibniSlide773

وَفِي فَضْلِكَ ارْغَبُ فَلاَ تَحْرِمْنِي

Only for Your favors do I desire; so, do not deprive me (of Your favors).

wa fi fadlika arghabu fala tahrimniSlide774

وَبِجَنَابِكَ انْتَسِبُ فَلاَ تُبْعِدْنِي

Only to Your side do I resort; so, do not set me aside.

wa bijanabika antasibu fala tub`idniSlide775

وَبِبَابِكَ اقِفُ فَلاَ تَطْرُدْنِي

At Your door only do I stand; so, do not drive me away.

wa bibabika aqifu fala tatrudniSlide776

إِلٰهِي تَقَدَّسَ رِضَاكَ انْ يَكُونَ لَهُ عِلَّةٌ مِنْكَ

O my God, Your pleasure is too sanctified to receive a defect from You;

ilahi taqaddasa ridaka an yakuna lahu `illatun minkaSlide777

فَكَيْفَ يَكُونُ لَهُ عِلَّةٌ مِنِّي؟

hence, how can it receive a defect from me?

fakayfa yakunu lahu `illatun minniSlide778

إِلٰهِي انْتَ ٱلْغَنِيُّ بِذَاتِكَ انْ يَصِلَ إِلَيْكَ ٱلنَّفْعُ مِنْكَ

O my God, You are too self-sufficient by Yourself to be benefited by Yourself;

ilahi anta alghaniyyu bidhatika an yasila ilayka alnnaf`u minkaSlide779

فَكَيْفَ لاَ تَكُونُ غَنِيّاً عَنِّي؟

hence, how can You not be self-sufficient from me?

fakayfa la takunu ghaniyyan `annaiSlide780

إِلٰهِي إِنَّ ٱلْقَضَاءَ وَٱلْقَدَرَ يُمَنِّينِي

O my God, fate awakens my hope

ilahi inna alqada'a walqadara yumanniniSlide781

وَإِنَّ ٱلْهَوَىٰ بِوَثَائِقِ ٱلشَّهْوَةِ اسَرَنِي

and whim has enchained me with the firm chains of lust;

wa inna alhawa biwatha'iqi alshshahwati asaraniSlide782

فَكُنْ انْتَ ٱلنَّصِيرَ لِي

so, (please do) be my Supporter

fakun anta alnnasira liSlide783

حَتَّىٰ تَنْصُرَنِي وَتُبَصِّرَنِي

so that You shall back me and show me the right path.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hatta tansurani wa tubassiraniSlide784

وَاغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ

And (please do) help me (to dispense with anyone else) through Your favors

wa aghnini bifadlikaSlide785

حَتَّىٰ اسْتَغْنِيَ بِكَ عَنْ طَلَبِي

so that I shall depend upon You exclusively in my requests.

hatta astaghniya bika `an talabiSlide786

انْتَ ٱلَّذِي اشْرَقْتَ ٱلانْوَارَ فِي قُلُوبِ اوْلِيَائِكَ

It is You Who have lit the illuminations in the hearts of Your intimate servants

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

anta alladhi ashraqta al'anwara fi qulubi awliya'ikaSlide787

حَتَّىٰ عَرَفُوكَ وَوَحَّدُوكَ

so that they have recognized and testified Your Oneness.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hatta `arafuka wa wahhadukaSlide788

وَانْتَ ٱلَّذِي ازَلْتَ ٱلاغْيَارَ عَنْ قُلُوبِ احِبَّائِكَ

It is You Who have removed love for others from the hearts of Your lovers

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta alladhi azalta al'aghyara `an qulubi ahibba'ikaSlide789

حَتَّىٰ لَمْ يُحِبُّوٱ سِوَاكَ

so that they have loved none save You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

hatta lam yuhibbu siwakaSlide790

وَلَمْ يَلْجَاوٱ إِلَىٰ غَيْرِكَ

and they have resorted to none save You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa lam yalja'u ila ghayrikaSlide791

انْتَ ٱلْمُؤْنِسُ لَهُمْ

You alone are entertaining them

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

anta almu'nisu lahumSlide792

حَيْثُ اوْحَشَتْهُمُ ٱلْعَوَالِمُ

when they have felt lonely because of the other worlds.

haythu awhashat-hum al`awalimuSlide793

وَانْتَ ٱلَّذِي هَدَيْتَهُمْ

You alone have guided them

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta alladhi hadaytahumSlide794

حَيْثُ ٱسْتَبَانَتْ لَهُمُ ٱلْمَعَالِمُ

so that all other worlds manifested themselves before them.

haythu istabanat lahum alma`alimuSlide795

مَاذَا وَجَدَ مَنْ فَقَدَكَ؟

What can one who misses You find any substitute?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

madha wajada man faqadakaSlide796

وَمَا ٱلَّذِي فَقَدَ مَنْ وَجَدَكَ؟

What can one who finds You miss anything else?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa ma alladhi faqada man wajadakaSlide797

لَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ رَضِيَ دُونَكَ بَدَلاً

Definitely, failing is he who has accepted anyone other than You as substitute.

laqad khaba man radiya dunaka badalanSlide798

وَلَقَدْ خَسِرَ مَنْ بَغَىٰ عَنْكَ مُتَحَوِّلاً

Definitely, loser is he who have desired for anyone other than You.

wa laqad khasira man bagha `anka mutahawwilanSlide799

كَيْفَ يُرْجَىٰ سِوَاكَ

How can anyone other than You be hoped

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

kayfa yurja siwakaSlide800

وَانْتَ مَا قَطَعْتَ ٱلإِحْسَانَ؟

whilst You have never stopped Your bounties?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta ma qata`ta al'ihsanaSlide801

وَكَيْفَ يُطْلَبُ مِنْ غَيْرِكَ

How can anyone other than You be besought

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa kayfa yutlabu min ghayrikaSlide802

وَانْتَ مَا بَدَّلْتَ عَادَةَ ٱلاِﹾمْتِنَانِ؟

whilst You have never changed Your habit of ceaseless bestowal?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta ma baddalta `adata alimtinaniSlide803

يَا مَنْ اذَاقَ احِبَّاءَهُ حَلاَوَةَ ٱلْمُؤَانَسَةِ

O He Who has made His lovers the sweet taste of entertainment;

ya man adhaqa ahibba'ahu halawata almu'anasatiSlide804

فَقَامُوٱ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مُتَمَلِّقِينَ

therefore, they have stood up before Him flattering Him!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

faqamu bayna yadayhi mutamalliqinaSlide805

وَيَا مَنْ الْبَسَ اوْلِيَاءَهُ مَلاَبِسَ هَيْبَتِهِ

O He Who has dressed His intimate servants the garments of fearing Him;

wa ya man albasa awliya'ahu malabisa haybatihiSlide806

فَقَامُوٱ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مُسْتَغْفِرِينَ

therefore, they have stood before Him seeking His forgiveness!

faqamu bayna yadayhi mustaghfirinaSlide807

انْتَ ٱلذَّاكِرُ قَبْلَ ٱلذَّاكِرِينَ

You do mention the others (with bounties) before they mention You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

anta aldhdhakiru qabla aldhdhakirinaSlide808

وَانْتَ ٱلْبَادِئُ بِٱلإِحْسَانِ قَبْلَ تَوَجُّهِ ٱلْعَابِدِينَ

You do spread Your compassion before the worshippers direct towards You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta albadi'u bil'ihsani qabla tawajjuhi al`abidinaSlide809

وَانْتَ ٱلْجَوَادُ بِٱلْعَطَاءِ قَبْلَ طَلَبِ ٱلطَّالِبِينَ

You do give generously before You are asked.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta aljawadu bil`ata'i qabla talabi alttalibinaSlide810

وَانْتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ ثُمَّ لِمَا وَهَبْتَ لَنَا مِنَ ٱلْمُسْتَقْرِضِينَ

You do bestow upon us and then borrow from us that which You have bestowed upon us.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta alwahhabu thumma lima wahabta lana min almustaqridinaSlide811

إِلٰهِي ٱطْلُبْنِي بِرَحْمَتِكَ حَتَّىٰ اصِلَ إِلَيْكَ

O my God, (please do) refer to me with Your mercy so that I will appear before You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi utlubni birahmatika hatta asila ilaykaSlide812

وَٱجْذِبْنِي بِمَنِّكَ حَتَّىٰ اقْبِلَ عَلَيْكَ

(Please do) draw me towards You through Your endless favoring so that I will advance to You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wajdhibni bimannika hatta uqbila `alaykaSlide813

إِلٰهِي إِنَّ رَجَائِي لاَ يَنْقَطِعُ عَنْكَ وَإِنْ عَصَيْتُكَ

O my God, verily, my hope for You does not cease despite that I may disobey You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi inna raja'i la yanqati`u `anka wa in `asaytukaSlide814

كَمَا انَّ خَوفِي لاَ يُزَايِلُنِي وَإِنْ اطَعْتُكَ

Similarly, my fear from You does not leave me even if I obey You.

kama anna khawfi la yuzayiluni wa in ata`tukaSlide815

فَقَدْ دَفَعَتْنِيَ ٱلْعَوَالِمُ إِلَيْكَ

The Worlds have pushed me towards You

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

faqad dafa`atni al`awalimu ilaykaSlide816

وَقَدْ اوْقَعَنِي عِلْمِي بِكَرَمِكَ عَلَيْكَ

and my acquaintance with Your magnanimity has led me to You.

wa qad awqa`ani `ilmi bikaramika `alaykaSlide817

إِلٰهِي كَيْفَ اخِيبُ وَانْتَ امَلِي؟

O my God, how can I fail whilst You are my hope?

ilahi kayfa akhibu wa anta amaliSlide818

امْ كَيْفَ اهَانُ وَعَلَيْكَ مُتَّكَلِي؟

How can I be humiliated whilst I depend upon You?

am kayfa uhanu wa `alayka muttakaliSlide819

إِلٰهِي كَيْفَ اسْتَعِزُّ وَفِي ٱلذِّلَّةِ ارْكَزْتَنِي؟

How can see dignity if You fix me in humiliation?

ilahi kayfa asta`izzu wa fi aldhdhillati arkaztaniSlide820

امْ كَيْفَ لاَ اسْتَعِزُّ وَإِلَيْكَ نَسَبْتَنِي؟

How can I not see dignity whilst You have referred me to You?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

am kayfa la asta`izzu wa ilayka nasabtaniSlide821

إِلٰهِي كَيْفَ لاَ افْتَقِرُ وَانْتَ ٱلَّذِي فِي ٱلْفُقَرَاءِ اقَمْتَنِي؟

O my God, how can I not be needy whilst it is You Who have lodged me among the needy?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ilahi kayfa la aftaqiru wa anta alladhi fi alfuqara'i aqamtaniSlide822

امْ كَيْفَ افْتَقِرُ وَانْتَ ٱلَّذِي بِجُودِكَ اغْنَيْتَنِي؟

How can I be needy whilst You have made me rich out of Your magnanimity?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

am kayfa aftaqiru wa anta alladhi bijudika aghnaytaniSlide823

وَانْتَ ٱلَّذِي لاَ إِلٰهَ غَيْرُكَ

It is You, there is no god save You,

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta alladhi la ilaha ghayrukaSlide824

تَعَرَّفْتَ لِكُلِّ شَيْء فَمَا جَهِلَكَ شَيْءٌ

Who have introduced Yourself to all things; therefore, nothing has ever ignored You.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ta`arrafta likulli shay'in fama jahilaka shay'unSlide825

وَانْتَ ٱلَّذِي تَعَرَّفْتَ إِلَيَّ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

It is You Who have introduced Yourself to me in all things;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta alladhi ta`arrafta ilayya fi kulli shay'inSlide826

فَرَايْتُكَ ظَاهِراً فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ

therefore, I have seen You Manifest in all things.

fara'aytuka zahiran fi kulli shay'inSlide827

وَانْتَ ٱلظَّاهِرُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ

It is You Who give manifestation to all things.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa anta alzzahiru likulli shay'inSlide828

يَا مَنِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ بِرَحْمَانِيَّتِهِ

O He Who is firm in power through His All-beneficence;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man istawa birahmaniyyatihiSlide829

فَصَارَ ٱلْعَرْشُ غَيْباً فِي ذَاتِهِ

therefore, the Throne has become unseen in His Essence.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fasara al`arshu ghayban fi dhatihiSlide830

مَحَقْتَ ٱلآثَارَ بِٱلآثَارِ

You have erased the traces by the traces;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

mahaqta al'athara bil'athariSlide831

وَمَحَوْتَ ٱلاغْيَارَ بِمُحِيطَاتِ افْلاَكِ ٱلانْوَارِ

and You have erased the changeable by the surroundings of the orbits of lights.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

wa mahawta al'aghyara bimuhitati aflaki al'anwariSlide832

يَا مَنِ ٱحْتَجَبَ فِي سُرَادِقَاتِ عَرْشِهِ

O He Who has screened Himself in the curtains of His Throne;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man ihtajaba fi suradiqati `arshihiSlide833

عَنْ انْ تُدْرِكَهُ ٱلابْصَارُ

hence, He cannot be comprehended by visions!

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

`an an tudrikahu al-absaruSlide834

يَا مَنْ تَجَلَّىٰ بِكَمَالِ بَهَائِهِ

O He Who has manifested Himself with His perfect Magnificence;

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

ya man tajalla bikamali baha'ihiSlide835

فَتَحَقَّقَتْ عَظَمَتُهُ مِنَ ٱلاِﹾسْتِوَاءِ

therefore, His Grandeur of being firm in power.

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

fatahaqqaqat `azamatuhu min alistiwa'iSlide836

كَيْفَ تَخْفَىٰ وَانْتَ ٱلظَّاهِرُ؟

How can You be hidden whilst You are the Manifester (of all things)?

Imam Husain (á) dua for the Day of A'ráfah

kayfa takhfa wa anta alzzahiruSlide837

امْ كَيْفَ تَغِيبُ وَانْتَ ٱلرَّقِيبُ ٱلْحَاضِرُ؟

Or how can You be absent whilst You are the Watcher (over all things) and the Present (at all times).

am kayfa taghibu wa anta alrraqibu alhadiruSlide838

إِنَّكَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

Verily, You have power over all things.

innaka `ala kulli shay'in qadirunSlide839

وَٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ وَحْدَهُ

All praise be to Allah alone.

اَللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
