ntroductionSlide3

Unfortunately, Margaret’s family moved quite often which means she didn’t really have one house for her childhood. She attended many different state schools around the area of Johnnesburg. When Margaret Wild was old enough, she moved from South Africa to Australia in the year 1972.When she got here, she worked as a magazine feature writer during the time when she finished her education at Australian University Canberra. After a while, she moved on to bigger things like a book editor in children’s publishing at ABC Books Australian Broadcasting Corporation from the years 1984-2000. That’s 16 years! Margaret Wild’s books explore a diverse range of themes. She is particularly noted for exploring issues of identity, trust and death.

She now has a full time job as a Children’s Author. Life / CareerSlide4

BooksSlide5

Margaret Wild chose to be an author because it took her mind away from her emotions – restless, unhappy, dissatisfied. She likes to say to herself that as long as she has ideas, she’ll keep going. She has always liked texts as when she was little, she pottered about poems and stories. Margaret’s favourite books were: ‘Millions Of Cats’ by Wanda Gag and ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle. Those two books gave her just enough encouragement to write her own books. The one book that Margaret Wild wished she wrote was called, ‘Bark George’ by John Brow.

Why Margaret Wild became an AuthorSlide6

Thank you for watching and reading my presentation about Margaret Wild. I hope you have learnt something about her and her books. In my opinion, Margaret Wild is a fantastic children’s author and I hope to see more of her books in the future. Thank you, once again.
