The method showed excellent quantitative linearity from 1.95 ng/ml to 250 ng/ml, and the quantitative detection limit for each paraben was 1.95 ng/ul.The UHPLCMS method used easily addressed the European committee limits of 0.4% (w/w.) Two extraction procedures were compared with both yielding comparable results.Conclusions : Paraben StructuresMethyl Paraben Ethyl Paraben Propyl Paraben Isopropyl Paraben Butyl ParabenSample Prep ConditionHand lotion (100 mg) obtained from a grocery store was spiked with isopropyl paraben as internal standard (280 ng) and extracted in solvents of varying hydrophobicity (1 mL of methanol or ethyl acetate). The sample was vortexed and centrifuged for 10 mins at 4000 RPM to separate the undissolved solids from the liquid.
