"I learned more during my ten sessions in the Horizon Leadership Academy than in any post-graduate work I ever completed at the university

level… provided

a strong knowledge base that was enhanced through exposure to visiting "on the job" superintendents.

I

was fortunate to have been offered my first superintendent job in August, and thanks largely to the Horizon Leadership Academy I felt prepared for the demands of the job."

Brady Cook - Superintendent

, Michigan Center Schools

“The program design had the flexibility to personalize the sessions offered through ongoing feedback from all of the group participants.

Topics

met our needs. If there was a topic that didn’t fit

facilitators ensured

you were connected with a working superintendent to have your questions answered

.”

 Jason Salhaney - Principal

, Romulus Middle School

"

Navigating Leadership is a purpose-driven professional learning journey that forces you to get to know and reflect upon who your truly are as a person first (strength and challenge areas), then raises critical questions that compel you to consider how your knowledge of self can/should influence, shape, and impact your approach and ability to lead and support change in your school/district

."

Comm.

Schools

The purpose of the program was to continue our learning with current superintendents while having an individualized focus on our own districts to make the content relevant to our everyday lives both professionally and personally. The program placed a priority on sharing different experiences so we could learn from one another and develop our own ideas as instructional leaders. The facilitators and

cohort members showed a passion and professionalism for collaboration, which made it a comfortable environment for individuals to share and network, no matter how difficult our profession can be at times.”
