What happens to the guy?!Slide3

Wait… There is another Opener… YES!

Mr. Blevins and Ms. Lehman play mini golf on Saturdays. The 15th hole at the Hole-In-One Putt-Putt Golf Course has a large metal rim that putters must use to guide their ball towards the hole. Ms. Lehman guides a golf ball around the metal rim. When the ball leaves the rim, which path (1, 2, or 3) will the golf ball follow?Slide4

Example -

Consider this situation… A truck filled to the brim with gravel is waiting at a stoplight. When the light turns green, the truck moves forward and some of the gravel spills off the back of the truck on the road. Use Newton’s 1

st

Law to explain why this happened.

The truck and gravel both start at rest. When the light changes, a forward unbalanced force acts on the truck, changing its motion and moving it forward. There are no unbalanced forces acting on the gravel (it is loose in the bed of the truck), therefore its motion does not change and it stays at rest. When the truck moves forward, the gravel stays put and then gravity causes it to fall to the ground.
