Slide3Slide4Scripture summary
Jesus tried to prepare the disciples for his death and resurrection, but they did not fully understand what he was trying to say. He told them that he was the way that others would come to know and understand God. The ones who believe in Jesus will show it by carrying on the works that Jesus did.
VERSE TO REMEMBER
“Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do.” (John 14:12)
Slide5Zion &
zaya talk about when Jesus speaks the truth
Slide6Zion – Jesus knew that he would not be on the earth for very much longer. So He met his followers in an upper room to comfort them. I think they met in a room on the second floor of a house for privacy. Jesus probably wanted only his faithful followers to hear what He had to say.
Zaya – What did Jesus say to his followers?
Zion – He said, “I am going away soon, but I do not want you to be upset. I want you to trust in God. There is plenty of room for each of you where I am going to. In fact, I am going there to prepare for you to come. After a while I will come back, and I will take you to be with me.”
Zaya – Did everybody feel better after Jesus told them he was going to prepare a place for them to be where he was going?
Zion – Not really. The disciple named Thomas said, “But, Lord, how do we know the way that to where you are going?” Thomas called Jesus Lord. This said that Thomas knew that Jesus was one he should follow. But Thomas wanted specifics!
Slide7DISCUSSION QUESTION

Zaya – How did Jesus answer Thomas?
Zion – Jesus said, “Thomas, I am the way. If you believe in me, you will know the way to the Father, who is God. I am also the truth. If you believe in me, you will know the truth. This is the truth that I am telling you. Also, I am the life. If you believe in me, you will live forever.
