Example of an exchange program: Torino Faculty of Economics and Business10

A replacement by a foreign course of too many ECTS credits can be compensated by replacing another course by a foreign course with less ECTS credits. If possible, a foreign course with sufficient credits attached can be used to replace multiple KU Leuven courses. Conversely, it is possible that a KU Leuven course must be replaced by more than one foreign course to achieve the required number of credits.

Slide11

Example of an exchange program: Zurich Faculty of Economics and Business11

A replacement by a foreign course of too many ECTS credits can be compensated by replacing another course by a foreign course with less ECTS credits. If possible, a foreign course with sufficient credits attached can be used to replace multiple KU Leuven courses. Conversely, it is possible that a KU Leuven course must be replaced by more than one foreign course to achieve the required number of credits.

Slide12

Tips and tricksIf it is impossible to find the right number of ECTS for a certain course, you just have to see that in the end your total amount abroad equals or supersedes the KU Leuven amount of ECTS (difference max 2 ECTS!). Nevertheless, the aim is to match the ECTS for each course separately to the best of your extent.

In total you have to exchange courses for a minimum of 24 ECTS and you may exchange up to a maximum of 36 ECTS. 30 ECTS is advised.

It’s in your interest to pass all courses abroad!

Slide13

Tips and tricksRead carefully the Mobility Regulations and the Exchanges FAQ Elective courses offered

by UCL/ULB cannot be exchanged

Capita Selecta courses cannot be exchangedThe Master thesis cannot be

exchanged

Courses already taken at the KU Leuven cannot be taken abroadSecond semester compulsory courses can be exchanged only in very exceptional circumstances

Slide14

Learning Agreement (LA) + possible changes to your LA14After your exchange program has been approved by the program director you should download your LA from the home page in the tool and have it signed at your host university + upload it in the tool.Once you are at your host university, you can only make changes to your program in case of force majeure (e.g. time overlap of lectures or exams; cancelled class; change of semester) and these changes should be reported immediately to your program advisor and evidenced by an official email from the host university. You also need to download the “changes to the LA” document from the tool and have it signed by the host university + upload it in the tool

.

How?-> send me an e-mail with proof that there is overlap, course is full/cancelled etc-> your originally approved LA will be rejected so you can make changes

-> submit new proposal

-> after check, approval or rejection
