External Audits – Commonly completed by Certified Public Accounting (CPA) firms and result in an auditor’s opinion to ensure an organization is compliant with the myriad rules and regulations governing financial reporting.
Typically include reviews of an organization's financial statements and internal controls
Internal Audits – Completed by an organization’s objective Internal Auditors to serve as a managerial tool to make improvements to processes and internal controls.
