University Placement Options Factors that determine your university placement options:
Academic appropriateness
Geographic and institutional diversity
Cost of academic program and university financial assistance
Nominee preference
Current research being conducted (if applicable)
Specialized learning accommodations (if applicable)
The U.S. Department of State and, if applicable, the Fulbright Commission determine whether you will receive a Fulbright award offer and at what university you will be placed.
Amideast’s goal is to increase your chances of receiving an award offer by increasing institutional diversity, maximizing chances for admission, and securing cost-share.
Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Statement The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) of the U.S. Department of State strives to embed diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) in all aspects of its work. Public diplomacy is most effective when people of diverse backgrounds and perspectives participate in people-to-people exchanges and programs to promote mutual understanding.
The Bureau incorporates DEIA best practices throughout its exchanges and programs, grants, community partnerships, and in its workforce and workplace. ECA is committed to addressing barriers based on race, ethnicity, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, religion, geographic location, education, income, socio-economic status, and other diversity dimensions, that may hinder inclusion in the organization. The Bureau’s commitment to DEIA strengthens U.S. foreign policy and is vital to building trust and partnerships here at home and around the world.
Geographic and Institutional Diversity The Fulbright Program adheres to all aspects of the ECA DEIA statement.
The program strives to select a diverse group of participants that represent a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, while also ensuring that Fulbrighters experience the diversity of the United States.
This allows a broader group of Americans to experience the pluralism and dynamism of the Middle East and North Africa region, through each of you.
Placement suggestions should reflect a diverse range of institutions, including:
Large and small institutions
Universities in both urban and rural areas
Public and private institutions
Nominee Suggestion Form Used to provide at least four placement suggestions, which will be reviewed and may be taken into consideration when determining your final university placement options.
Compare your credentials with those required by universities (e.g., test scores, academic record, undergraduate GPA, etc.)
Do not suggest universities that have higher minimum test scores than your scores.
You may suggest up to one traditionally highly-ranked university if the program is a good match.
You may suggest no more than two universities located in major or “popular” cities (e.g., New York, Los Angeles, etc.)
Your university suggestions must all be located in different states.
