Fact File: Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian hit the Bahamas on 1 September 2019 which lasted for two days.
 
An estimated 76,000 people have been directly affected by the storm.
 
More than 1,000 people were missing and rescuers feared that hundreds of people had died.<br>

The International Federation of the Red Cross (IFRC) helped with:

providing short and medium-term shelter
replacing essential items such as lamps and mobile phone chargers
giving out hot meals and food rations to people who may not have eaten a meal for several days
ensuring that clean water was available
providing psychosocial support
helping people to find their families.<br>
