Global Trading Game Your Country and Role Remove the country profile and comparison chart from the envelope. What are three strengths of your country? What are three weaknesses of your country? Remove the Jobs Descriptions and Actions sheet. Assign an occupation to each member of your group. Part 1 Economic Advisors: Sort the industry, technology, and workforce cards and organize on the game board. Geologists: Make a sketch of the landscape on the map. Label hills or changes in the landscape. (Large rocks= hills) Use the straws to probe the soil for energy resources buried there. Mark on the map the location of energy resources. Miners: Remove the earth by layer. Set layers to the side. Use the Geologists’ map to locate energy resources. Bring resources to facilitator to trade for resource game pieces. Part 2 Economic Advisors & International Traders: Develop a strategy to allow your team to end up with exactly five of each of the commodity cards. Geologists & Miners: Restore your plot of land. Trading Rules Trades may occur only at the International Trading Center. Only international traders may buy, sell, and trade commodities. If trading is done by anyone other than a trader, or in a place other than the trade center, the teams must forfeit the next round of trading. If any trading is done before or after the trading signal, the teams must forfeit the next round of trading. Trading Round 1: 90 seconds Start! Half way! Stop! Trading Round 2: 90 seconds Start! Half way! Stop! Check Your Impacts Complete the Impact Worksheet Flip over your commodity cards to reveal the impacts. Count your country’s total impact. Part 3 New Trading Goal Still obtain five of each kind of card. End up with 21 or fewer total impacts. Develop a new strategy for the final round of trading. Trading Round 3: 180 seconds Start! 2 minutes left 1 minute left Stop! Part 4 Calculate your commodities. Did you meet your goal? Calculate your impacts. Did you meet your goal?
