People who eat breakfast tend to eat 12.3% healthier throughout the day Picking any type of diet can help you eat at least 15.2% healthier You're likelier to eat 12.7% healthier when you're at home According to USA Today, 59% of students say they know their diet has gone downhill since they went to college According to the Journal of American College Health, 70 percent of students gained a significant amount of weight between the start of college and the end of sophomore year Eating Breakfast does make a difference Eat healthy all day Bring healthy snacks with you to campus to decrease the urge to purchase unhealthy food. Healthy eating on campus The two types of Meal Plans on campus are: Traditional Meal Plan Vegetarian Meal Plan If you are trying to lose weight women need at least 1200 calories per day and men need at least 1600 calories per day Choose healthy items Can you guess? Vitamin A - Vision Vitamin B – Energy Vitamin C – Immune/Energy Vitamin D – Bones Vitamin E - Skin Remember! Vitamins work in conjunction with your nutrition, not in substitute of your nutrition. Never be hungry, but never be completely full. Eat: Breakfast like a King Lunch like a Prince Dinner like a Pauper Use the tools provided to maintain a healthy lifestyle! Physical and Mental Wellness Intellectual Wellness Creative/mental activities and your openness to new ideas. Enrollment in college is a step towards intellectual wellness. Ex: Reading or watching educational programming. Spiritual Wellness Involves traditional religious beliefs perception and appreciation of nature, the universe, and the meaning of life. This takes time and there is no single approach that fits all. Physical and Mental Wellness Occupational Wellness The personal satisfaction you get from a job or career. This may not apply to some of you right now, but eventually it will… Social Wellness Taking an active role in the community and becoming a contributing member of society. The Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) or Student Activities and Involvement can assist on campus. Emotional Wellness This includes self-acceptance, self-confidence, self-control, and trust and involves the ability to deal with stress, the ability to be flexible, and your attitude toward yourself and life in general. Emotional wellness will help you have a better outlook on life so that you enjoy it
