E.g. AI/ML applied to healthcare and electronics manufacturing
CSL is where societal grand challenges and “specific” industry problems are meant to inspire fundamental innovation and changes that can be broadly applied
Applying communications theory developed for telecommunications to adaptive robotic control
CSL is place where you can follow what your fellow students are doing
Great avenues include the CSL Student Conference, this social hour and seminars offered by research groups
slide17. CSL and You –Inclusion will Make you Stronger College Vision: to be the destination for those who relish the freedom to discover, create, and innovate in inclusive, collaborative teams at the very cutting edge of knowledge and technology.
You come from all over the world and bring forward vastly different cultures and perspective
Your various perspectives will contribute to identifying problems to address and developing creative solutions
… but only of you take the time to listen to each other and respectfully absorb and welcome each others’ contribution
Consider applying to join the Institute for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Access (https://idea.illinois.edu/)
If you identify a project of interest to pursue – apply for a Grassroots Initiatives to Address Needs Together (GIANT) grant
