President International Education Association of Australia (IEAA) To change the filter (current as blue), you only need to click on it, and using the Shape Fill you choose the new colour. The transparency is already setup correctly.
To change the image, you need to move the filter to the side, so you are able to click on the image (which is under the filter), and clicking with the right button of your mouse you choose Change Picture > From file

slide2. Australia now re-opening Australia celebrates being an open, pluralistic country of the “new world”, but COVID-19 caused us to close in on ourselves.
There has been so much change and uncertainty in the last couple of years.
In early 2020, our PM told international students to “go home” but now offers full student visa rebates, uncapped work hours and new three-year minimum Post Study Work Right Visas! This has created mixed messages.
Our geographic location causes us to be over-reliant on students from the Indo-Pacific region. In 2019, the top three sources were China (35%), India (17%) and Nepal (13%), followed by Malaysia, Vietnam and Pakistan.
Concern that many Chinese students will stay comfortable continuing their studies offshore online.<br>
slide3. New opportunities National Council for International Education brings together seven Federal Ministers (chaired by Education Minister) and 11 Expert Members. Acts as a conduit for important issues.
New National Strategy for International Education 2021–2030 now being implemented:
Discussion Paper on International Student Diversity: seeking feedback on improvements in sector resilience and student experience.
Review of Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) national legislation to ensure that regulatory settings are more flexible and supportive of innovation in teaching and learning (including enhancing offshore campuses and Transnational Education partnerships).
Expansion of industry-focussed micro-credentials to encourage overseas students into pathway programs.
International Education Innovation Fund: AU$10 million for six projects to support student engagement best practice.<br>
slide4. TAFE opportunities - Innovation Fund In addition to IST Courses Program, we now have an Innovation Fund.
Opportunities and barriers to diversification. A report that will identify drivers and trends affecting diversification and analyse global best practice.
Expansion of Australia’s offshore delivery through TNE to include insights into regulatory environment, governance arrangements, etc. in South East Asia, Latin America, South Asia and North Asia.
Alignment of international education with skills needs through micro-credentials in VET. A report will compare Australia’s emerging skills needs against the current study profile, and pilot a skills-aligned set of VET micro-credentials.
Development of critical skills courses in partner countries. To be piloted with mining in LATAM and agriculture in India and include skills needs analysis, development of occupational standards and teacher training
Support for international research collaboration. Placing up to 120 PhD student placements in countries with industry needs aligned with Australia.
Promotion of student engagement best practice. The project will produce a guide to support delivering a stronger student experience.<br>
slide5. Post-COVID focus on student welfare 5 IEAA commissioned a Student Voices survey in late 2020 to ascertain overseas students’ opinions about Australia and New Zealand. Included views of domestic students about their international peers.
IEAA works closely with the Council for International Students in Australia (CISA), and they also have a seat on the National Council.
Both education institutions and National Strategy are prioritising mental health support.
IEAA has paid for a public relations campaign to educate the wider Australian community on the benefits that international students bring to our nation. The theme is Helping Australia Thrive.<br>

TAFE must be nimble and responsive to emerging trends
We need to ‘play’ in the same space as the universities
We need to work together and not compete with other TAFEs
