1 Comprehensive Women’s Health Progr
Comprehensive Women’s Health Program Close to Home Now a part of Luminis Health, Doctors Community Medical Center (DCMC) has a history of serving as a beacon of hope and wellness for Prince Georgians. Our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible care means regularly examining our community to develop new programs that address the growing needs of our diverse residents. In 2019, the Prince George’s County Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) found that “our population is going outside of the county for (their) care.” We believe people in the county need and deserve accessible women’s health services. To do our part, we will develop a comprehensive women’s health program at DCMC. By the Numbers In 2018, there were nearly 11,000 babies delivered by Prince George’s County residents. But most of those deliveries did not happen in the county.* • About 8 out of 10 babies were delivered outside of the county • 84% were born in other Maryland counties or Washington, D.C. • Of the 11,000 deliveries, 9,250 were from DCMC’s service area Community Needs Each year, the need for quality obstetrics care in Prince George’s County grows. • The county birth rate exceeds the state rate and drives the need for more obstetrics care • The county has one of the highest infant mortality rates in Maryland with the highest rate noted for non-Hispanic, African-American deliveries • CY18 average charge per case in Maryland hospitals was lower relative to the average charge per case at hospitals in
