10/30/ 2020 VIRGINIA BOARD FOR CONTRACTORS APPROVED CONTRACTORS PRELICENSE EDUCATION PROVIDERS The following list of education providers has been approved by the Board for Contractors to conduct training that meets the eight - hour pre - license education requirement fo r contractors. The pre - license education must be completed by a member of responsible management or designated employee for a Pre - license education is require d for all new contractors’ licenses, and is a separate requirement from the Class A and B examinations. The pre - license education course is a basic business course that covers relevant regulations, statutes, and requirements that are necessary for every bu siness - owner. The course is not specific to any particular classification or specialty. A Board - approved advanced contractor class will also meet the requirements for the pre - license education course. - license education providers are required to elect ronically submit rosters for each course they conduct, which are then downloaded to our system. While it should not be necessary for you to submit documentation proving course completion, you are strongly encouraged to keep a record of completing the cours e (i.e. certificate of completion) in case it is requested by the Board office when you apply. Because providers establish their own fees and schedules, you should contact the provider directly to determine the specific location, cost, and materials requ irements for their course.
