: How to think about displaying and managing Artworks for Galleries or Exhibitions BEYOND pedestals. Slide3
YOUR task
Your task is to design, develop, and create a work of Art, in clay or other sculptural materials to be displayed ‘
Off the Wall.’ It should be created in a way to be displayed on a wall. Following are multiple examples:
One form you can work from is the ‘Ceramic Wall Pillow.’
This work is essentially a Slab box with 2-D Elements of Art and well as 3-D Elements of Art.
-May
be abstract or figurative. Slide4
Wall Pillows
Wall Pillows are essentially a slab-box form with rounded edges. This may also be done using drape-mold techniques. For these, focus on composition, texture, and your work should not have more than 20% off the form.
Ceramic Bracket / Wire attachment are necessary for this form. Slide5Slide6Slide7Slide8Slide9Slide10Slide11

Cluster installations
The following slides focus on Cluster Installations. The Artist creates numerous works for one Installation area, particularly focused on a theme or environment to subject the viewer to. Slide28Slide29Slide30Slide31Slide32
Learning Goal
Students will be able to create a work of 3-D Art to be displayed on a wall. This project
incorporates curatorial work that could potentially be real-life problems for 3-Dimensional Artists. Slide33
