Currently they only have a small field of dirt and grass to play on.. By Emma Lou Sesar, Alex Sabo, Andrew Friedman. Intro. We researched playgrounds around the world to SPARK our imagination. We found that the playgrounds in other countries were more accessible for everyone. Also, they were more innovative. Their playgrounds featured equipment in themes. There was a very cool playground in Germany where all equipment was in the theme of a safari. The playgrounds in Australia featured play structure not sold in America. We explored playgrounds in these countries and more giving us the perfect idea!! . . -Increase natural play areas on the playground. . -Add barrier free play for everyone. . -Increase safety and view planes. . -Add opportunities for learning outside. . -Create areas for gathering. SAFETY. “INJURY FREE IS THE KEY!”. Each year, Emergency Departments treat about 200,000 children15 years old and younger for playground related injuries. . The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons estimates 527,000 children are treated in hospitals, Emergency departments, doctors offices, and ambulatory surgery centers.. Playtimes.
