The 1918 influenza pandemic was the most severe pandemic in recent history.

Like Coronavirus it spread worldwide during 1918-1919. It is estimated that about 500 million people or one-third of the world’s population became infected with this virus. The number of deaths was estimated to be at least 50 million worldwide with about 675,000 occurring in the United States.

At the time, there were no effective drugs or vaccines to treat this killer flu strain. Citizens were ordered to wear masks, schools, theatres and businesses were shuttered before the virus ended.

By the summer of 1919, the flu pandemic came to an end, as those that were infected either died or developed immunity. Since 1918, there have been several other influenza pandemics, although none as deadly.

Schools can safely stay open to support children – online learning is available for children learning remotely

Some businesses can remain open

Vaccine is produced

Advanced Scientific knowledge

Advanced hospital facilities and staffing

Better survival rate.

The key message here is that Spanish Flu disappeared and our world began to function again as normal. We are currently living through history and Coronavirus will become part of our PAST. We will get through this pandemic together; we are one family, living and learning together in faith.
