Experience is recognized only after licensure and/or completion of training, and for the purpose of satisfying differences in the training requirements. Experience totaling 1 year is necessary, any experience totaling less than 1 year will not be recognized. Submit copies of all electrologist licenses. Disqualification for licensure: 1) Criminal conviction associated with the electrologist\'s practice; 2) Declared mentally incompetent by a court; and 3) Administrative disciplinary action against the electrologist\'s license. License Description: DESCRIPTION OF OCCUPATION: A Mental Health Counselor works with individuals and groups to promote optimum mental health, with emphasis on prevention. May help deal with addictions and substance abuse; family, parenting, and marital problems; suicide; stress management; problems with self-esteem; and issues associated with aging and mental and emotional health. REQUIREMENTS FOR LICENSING: Experience requirements: Have supervisor verify the completion of: 1) at least 2 academic terms of supervised practicum intern experience or equivalent; and 2) 3,000 hours of of post-graduate experience in the practice of mental health counseling. Education requirements: Master\'s or Doctoral degree from an accredited educational institution in counseling or allied field related to the practice of mental health counseling. Complete graduate level coursework in couseling comprising a minimum of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours and include required subject areas. EXAMINATIONS: National Counselor Exam for Licensure and Certification (NCE). FEES: Between July 1, 2021 and June 30, 2022, pay $410 (application $60, license $213, compliance resolution fund $86, 1/3 renewal $51).
