Executive Summary
Complex medical diet therapies are often hard to execute, follow and maintain by families. For many patients medical diet therapies are the only solution for managing a diagnosis. Ingredients are often expensive and hard to work with. Providing a resource of tested and kid approved recipes and cooking kits, engage families with tools to mange these complex diets.

Cooking with Keto Kids Cookbook and Cooking Kits came as from requests from providers who manage the ketogenic diet for epilepsy patients and from families wanting a kid friendly approach to the complex medical diet therapy for epilepsy patients as well as mimicking the cooking classes that were being provided at Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Recognizing that families and providers have limited time and knowledge to create recipes for this complex diet as well as
m
any families are fearful of cooking failures since the diet is considered a form of medication; recipes were tested and approved by families at Children’s Mercy Hospital Epilepsy Center and will be provided in a dynamic
eCookbook
format to be downloaded and shared as needed.
Since COVID, monthly Cooking with Keto Kids classes have had to be cancelled. Families are still wanting recipes and activities for their kids. Cooking With Keto Kids Kit is a solution of having 2-3 recipes for families to trial, cooking tool and instructions used for ketogenic diet success and activities for their keto kids to participate. Creative cooking videos will be available to be logged
into.These
kits will be mailed to interested families with additional activities and resources to manage the complex diet at home.
E
xpanding the patient care experience for Children’s Mercy families as well as other institutions will help with tools to maintain efficacy and ease the diet experience.
I
mplementing the Cookbook will provide a useful resource for the providers and families and the Cooking with Keto Kids Kits will benefit the patient and provide families recipes to trial as well support until classes can resume in person.
Being a medical treatment, this
work
will need
to
be determine/validate cost and potential revenue by offering the cookbook to providers as a subscription model to share with their families. The Cooking Kits can be offered through a website to families as a monthly or quarterly subscription.

Use a
spatula
which is the
right size for your hands as well as for the task.
Use your spatula to scrape out all the ingredients from bowls or containers
When mixing ingredient together, make sure you go
slow,
hold onto the bowl and use the edge of the spatula to
scrape
the ingredients around the bowl into the middle of the bowl.
Notice where the spatula is in the picture below; try and mix this way.
Use to scrape all the fat from your plate.

Directions:
Weigh out all the ingredients
In a bowl, add all ingredients, except oil for frying and
