Towarzystwo Społeczno Kulturalne Żydów is the greatest secular Jewish organisation
in
Poland
which
rose
in
1950 by
merging
two
former
organisations
– Centralnego Komitetu Żydów w Polsce (
Central Committee of Jews in Poland
) and Żydowskiego Towarzystwa Kultury i Sztuki (
The
Jewish Company of Culture and Art
).
It
was
modeled
on
Jewish
institutions
created
before
the
II
World

For many years TSKŻ has been organising cultural events, celebration of anniversaries, exhibits of Jewish art, conferences and lectures, courses of Yiddish language
and
summer
camps
for
young
people
.
Integration
among
people
with
the
Jewish
origin
is
very
important
for
the
organisation’s
members
. To
take
care
of
Yidish
language
the
organisation
formed
the
publishing
company „
Jidish
Buch”
in
1947
in
Łódź.Slide5
The organisation has 16 branches in Poland - among others in Wrocław, Katowice, Łódź, Wałbrzych, Szczecin, Gdańsk,
Cracow
,
Poznań
and
Częstochowa
. The registered office of the main management board of the
organi
s
ation
is located in Warsaw, in the building which rose in 1964-67
.
The
building is
located
in
the
Grzybowski
Square
which with
neighbouring
streets was a lively Jewish part of Warsaw before the Second World War

In the registered office of the organization in Warsaw there is a library in which there are many books in both
the
Yiddish
and
Polish
languages
and a lot of photographs, documents and leaflets which
show the life
of
the Jewish community after
1945.
The
organisation
also
publishes
a
social
-
cultural
monthly
magazine
in
both
the
Yiddish
and
Polish
languages
,
called
„Słowo Żydowskie / Dos
Jidisze
Wort

Right after the end of the Second World War the
organisation
had
a big influence on
the
Jewish
community.
For a lot of decades
after
the
war
it
shaped the national identity of young Jews
.
It
also
supported Jewish schools where Jews were being taught
the
Yiddish
language
and
the
history
of
Jews
and
supported
the development of the culture.
It
is
an
institution
which
used
the
Yiddish
language
,
in
spite of a
common
opinion
that
it
is
already
dead

Our students visit Social and Cultural Jews Organisation in Częstochowa very
often

There
they
participate
in
diffrent
meetings
,
celebrate
Jewish
holidays
,
listen
to
concerts
.
They
are
very
happy
that
they
had
abbility
to
learn
about
Jewish
culture
.

Show „Nic Nowego” („Nothing New”)Pupils of our school , on 9th of December 2013 visited TSKŻ to see the performance of well-known Warsaw actor - Sławomir Holland which is well-known from roles in series and films. The actor presented familiar pieces incurred in the interwar period of such authors as Julian
Tuwim
or Marian
Hemar
. Pupils were enchanted, and this performance remained the unforgettable experience.Slide11Slide12
HanukkahOn 22nd of November 2013 pupils of our school were invited to the celebration of the Hanukkah. For the occasion young people arrived from Warsaw and organised games and attractions. The meeting began at 17:30. At the beginning the historian
toldthe
Foundation about activity
of
Distribution Committee Joint (JDC) which is one of oldest and greatest international Jewish organizations
made
in the United States in 1914
(i
n Poland
in
1918
)
.
It
is supporting local associations and Jewish institutions. After the interesting lecture hosts prepared carrot-
coloured
cutlets a
nd
told about the Hanukkah. Participants in the holiday got the candlestick to the souvenir -
chanukiję

Historical Lecture On 23rd listopad 2013 students of our school, mainly of class
IIa
,
had
the
opportunity
to listen about how
childhood
of
Jewish
child
looked
like
during the communist era.
Halina
.... told the story of her parents
and
how they
had
survived the war
.
This
story was very sad
but extremely interesting.
Halina
... talked about their longing for family, which s
he
has
never
met
and the fact that now,
after
many years
of
the
Second
World
War,
she
can
understand the history of her ancestors. Guests also have the opportunity
to
hear traditional Jewish songs and see

photos and memorabilia

The Passover Seder On15th of April 2014 three students of our school took part in the celebration of the Seder holiday. Seder
is a Jewish ritual feast that marks the beginning of the
Jewis
h
holiday of
Passov
er
. Girls took part in the dinner which consisted of traditional dishes. Two
rabbies
from New York and all Jewish families from
Częstochowa
were invited
to
celebrating and told remaining guests about the tradition of this holiday.
