Plans for Easter
IRB planed to attack the British for
freedom. They planned to do it on Easter Sunday.
The IRB didn’t have enough people for the rising so Joseph Plunkett forged a letter pretending that they were the British Government to the Irish volunteers stating that the Irish Volunteers were now illegal. Eoin MacNeill was full of rage so he sent the Irish Volunteers to help the IRB. MacNeill
later found out that the letter was fake and told the Volunteers to cancel all manoeuvres. Slide5
The Aud
Roger Casement went to Germany to buy arms. The Germans agreed to send a shipload of arms to Ireland. The German boat called “The Aud” arrived three days early
. The boat was captured by the British ships and was sunk.Slide6
Monday April 24
th 1916
On April 24th about 150 people marched to the General Post Office, then the Citizen Army joined them, Padraig Pearse was their commander. The army knocked out the windows and raised the Irish flag over the GPO while listening to the proclamation. Slide7

Tuesday April 25

The British soldiers were surrounding the city, and there was dead horses belonging to the British soldiers on the ground who attempted to attack the GPO. Many innocent people tried to escape the city, most succeeded but some didn’t.Slide9

It is mostly calm in the GPO, every man is armed with a shotgun, rifle or a handgun. Padraig Pearse has announced to his soldiers that there is only a meagre amount of ammunition left for their battle. Slide10
Wednesday April 26

On this day Eamon De Valera and his troops had ambushed a big group of British soldiers. Unfortunately the bad news of the day was that the British army sent a boat up the Liffey and started to shell the troops which were inside the Liberty Hall. Slide11
Thursday 27
th of April
On this day James Connolly has been injured, while fighting outside in the middle of Abbey Street. The wound in his leg turned out to be serious.Slide12

He crawled carefully, but quickly to the stairs of the GPO. When he was there two of the nurses ran out to help him up the stairs.

Friday April 28th
On this day the GPO was in flames as the British had ignited it. Many of the British had shot many people dead, so the men in the GPO were commanded to be evacuated. Then on the very next day the IRB surrendered and most of them were executed.Slide14
