Joshua 6:1-5,12-16

Look for a principle about:

How to have good success

God can be with you always

A symbol of the SaviorSlide20

What doctrines and principles are in the story of

Rahab

?

How often does God use a “Sinful” person to be apart of His plans?

CROSSREFERENCE:

James

2:25-26

JOSHUA 2Slide21

JOSHUA 2

She hid the spies under stalks of flax on her roof.

Leviticus 19:19: "Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee."

Linen is from a plant (flax), while wool is from animal fiber (when you interweave these fibers, you are mixing two very diverse kinds together as one).

Zephaniah 1:8: “And it shall come to pass in the day of the LORD'S sacrifice, that I will punish the princes, and the king's children, and all such as are clothed with strange apparel.“

The word Atonement means ‘to cover’.  We are covered by the perfect (unmixed) blood of Christ, just as these men were covered by the pure (unmixed) flax on the harlot’s house.  Slide22

JOSHUA 2

A scarlet thread hanging against the backdrop of a red painted window sill (common for prostitutes to paint their sill’s red) would look just like a red cross

Just as the red doorposts saved the believers during the Passover, so too does the red cross save this woman. Simply stated, we all need the cross and the Savior to be saved. Slide23

What doctrines and principles are in the story of crossing the Jordan?

What would those who were carrying the ark have to do before the river stopped

?

How many had to do this (Jos 3:13)?

Are you “All in”???

What memorial items do you have in your life?

JOSHUA 3-4

Are you willing to get your feet wet in the gospel? (Joshua 3:15)Slide24

Write down 12 things:

People that have affected your life

Circumstances that have changed your life

Choices that have affected your life

Experiences that have affected your life

JOSHUA 3-4

How are stones a symbol of the Savior? Slide25

What doctrines & principles are in the story of Jericho?

What did Joshua instruct the Israelites to do with all that was in Jericho?

JOSHUA 6

Is there anything in your life that should be ‘destroyed’?Slide26

What doctrines and applications are in the story of

Achan

?

How many men died as a result of his sin during the attack on Ai?

(Josh. 7:5, Josh. 7:24-26)

JOSHUA 7

Is there anything you are holding onto that you shouldn’t be?Slide27
