Homework policy My homework policy is homework is due first thing in the morning on the day after I assign it, unless you are absent that day. Please check your child’s planner each night for homework and initial to verify. It is important that the children get in the habit of bringing their planner back and forth every day, even if they don’t have homework. Please let me know if it isn’t making it home each night. Every week each student is responsible for studying their spelling words and completing their assignments. A copy of my homework policy was mailed to you to read with your child, sign, and return to school.

Grading Math: Tests are worth 80% and homework is worth 20%. Math facts and problem solving will be tested in order to determine subcategory grades on the report card. Spelling: Tests are worth 50% and homework is worth 50%. Tests will be on Fridays unless there is no school.Reading: Tests/quizzes are worth 50% and homework is worth 50%.Social Studies: Tests/quizzes are worth 50% and homework is worth 50%.You can access your child’s grade anytime on powerschool. You can get your username and password from Mrs. Myers. There is also a free app available that will alert you to updates in your child’s grades. The district code is KDHK.

Curriculum Math: I’ll be teaching math. We will practice math facts and problem solving with every lesson. We will do a lesson a day unless we have interruptions in our schedule. Any problems they don’t finish in class or study hall will be homework and due the next morning. We will have a test after every 5 lessons. Reading: I’ll be teaching reading. We will have new vocabulary words, reading skills and strategies every week or two. We will occasionally have stories and organizers that will need to be completed for homework. Tests/quizzes will be given after we’ve had sufficient practice with the skills and strategies we’re working on. Social Studies: I’ll be teaching social studies this year. We will read about history, take notes, and complete projects. We will also be reading the newspaper and sharing what we learned about current events.Spelling: We will have several activities we do to practice our words and tests will be on the last day of the week.
