In about 8 out of 10 rapes, no weapon is used other than physical force.

Sexual Abuse

Unwanted touching

Forcing you to have sex

Not letting you take your birth control

Forcing you to perform other sexual acts

Slide4

Acquaintance Rape

These sexual activities are imposed upon them by someone they know.

Acquaintance assault involves forceful sexual activities that occur against a person's will by means of force, violence, or fear of bodily injury.

Slide5

Statutory Rape

Statutory rape occurs when a person of a certain age engages in sexual intercourse with an individual whom is under the age of consent.

The age of consent; The legal age determined by which a person is mentally capable of understanding the decision to have sex.

Slide6

Statutory Rape-New Jersey

In New Jersey, the age of consent for sexual conduct is 16 years old.

As a general matter, this means that a person who is 16 years old can generally consent to have sex with any adult, regardless of age.

In New Jersey, a person aged 13-15 can generally consent to have sex with anyone who is no more than 4 years older.

No one

under the age of 13

can legally consent to sex, regardless of the age of their partner.

Date Rape

Date rape is when

someone you know

socially (but not family) makes you have sex when you don’t want to. It could be someone you meet at a party, or someone you love and trust, like your boyfriend.

They might use physical and verbal threats, emotional blackmail, or

alcohol and

drugs ( Date Rape Drug)

to force or trick you into having sex

.

(

Ruffied

- Sedative Drug)

And it’s not just sexual intercourse − it can be oral sex or some other kind of sex. You may even agree to have sex with someone and then decide that you want to stop, but they force you to keep

going.

While

it’s mostly women who are raped, guys can be victims of date rape too. And, as with female victims, guys are usually assaulted by other men.

Slide8

Incest

Incest is sexual activity between family members and close

relatives.

This

typically includes sexual activity between people in a

blood related relationship and

sometimes those

that live in the

same household, step relatives, those related by adoption or

marriage.

Molestation- is when a child is used for sexual arousal by an adult.

How to get help

Get Help:

911 For Emergencies

Get medical attention, whether you plan to report the rape or not

If you ARE going to report the crime to police DON’T shower, bathe, douche, go to the bathroom, eat, drink or smoke

Go to a hospital emergency room

Slide10

Filing for a Restraining Order

Both locations will help you fill out the appropriate paper work

You

may go to your local court house

Monday -Friday 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

If it is the weekend, holiday, or after hours you may go to your local police station.

Slide11

What can a Restraining order do?

The abuser can be ordered not to have any contact with you, in person or by phone, at home, work or almost anywhere you ask the court to put in the order

The court can order the abuser to leave the house or apartment that you and the abuser share, even if it is the abuser’s.

The court may order the abuser to pay for costs that resulted from the abuse; for example, household bills that are due right away, medical/dental treatment, moving expenses, loss of

earnings.

The

judge can order the police to escort the abuser to remove personal items from the residence or shared place of business, so that you are protected by the police during any necessary contact.

Slide12

Getting Consent

Consent is the basis for sexual relations… this means:

The only thing that means yes is yes — providing that the person saying yes is at the age of consent.

No means no; silence means no; maybe means no.

If someone is too drunk to say no, or too disabled to say no, or too young to say no, that also means no.

You have the right to change your mind about having sex.

Kissing only means you agree to kiss.

Just because you are at his house, he is not entitled to sex.
