Collecting eyelid samples from suspected myxoma virus casesA rabbit that has died from myxomatosis may have: lumps and swelling around the head and genitals, discharge from the eyes and nose, and possible blindness. Using a scalpel blade or surgical scissors, cut off an upper eyelid from the deceased rabbit.Place the tissue into a pre-filled container. The liquid in the collection vials is 50% glycerol in phosphate buffered saline. This is non-flammable and non-hazardous.Clean scissors thoroughly between samples if sampling more than one rabbit (soak in 10% bleach, rinse thoroughly, and wipe).Label tube with: Sample name Myxo Location, State DateComplete submission form.
