Dear Friend, Stand Up For Animals (SUFA) is making a difference BECAUSE of you and we need to keep the momentum going. Our goal for 2020 is to expand our Community Outreach Program to include; • Increasing the number of families we help with unexpected medical expenses for dogs and cats • Helping families with unexpected training costs for problematic animals and tackle the unacceptable behavior before it becomes a problem and surrendering the animal becomes the only option • Supporting shelters within our service area: Charlestown, Richmond, Hopkinton, Westerly, Stonington & North Stonington, by providing specialized animal behavior assessments to shelter animals We rely strictly on donations, grants and fundraising efforts and we need your help. By donating as little as $20.00 per month, less than $0.75 per day, you will help us keep this momentum going in support of our mission so please know that ANY monthly donation is more than appreciated! Where your donations will go: • $90 helps us spay/neuter cats • $125 helps us host an education class for school children • $150 helps us spay/neuter dogs • $175 or more helps us provide trainers/animal behaviorists to properly assess animal behaviors so we can nd them proper homes and reduce the risk of them returning to the shelter Because of your ongoing generosity and support we’ve installed: • New sprinkler system and pavilions in all dog park enclosures • Supplemental heaters in dog runs to provide greater comfort in the cold months • Cat portals so cats have more living space • Cat sanctuary TV so they have entertainment watching birds, squirrels, frogs, etc. We’re proud to say we: • Built this state-of-the-art facility for animals in the Town of Westerly and continue to improve the building and provide necessities for animals’ health and well-being. • Support the Westerly Animal Shelter by providing specialized animal behavior assessments/training for shelter dogs, as needed. We contribute $20,000 annually for the shelter vet salary and surgical suite medication. • Support our local community with emergency medical pet care. Since 2016, we’ve contributed over $50,000 for pet medical emergencies in our community. • Offered 43 animal welfare classes with our humane instructor and reached over 1,350 future pet owners from elementary to high school level in 2019. • Participate in a feral cat catch, spay/neuter release program and provide food for local feral cat colonies. In 2019, we spent over $4,500, had 48 cats spayed/neutered and spent over $1,000 for feral cat food.
