You may choose to focus on critical care or emergency medicine resources based on the rotation for which you were scheduled, but may expand your experiences to the other resources provided
Please provide feedback to me as you complete the course
Let me know if you would like additional Pediatric/Neonatal resources (I have not included since no one was scheduled in
the PICU or NICU)

Each student to present at least 1 article by end of course
Ideally all students would join all the conference calls, but at a minimum should join the review of 4 articles (~ 2 calls)
Students may work in pairs
Students to set up conference calls; plan for about 20 – 30 min for each article

Students to choose articles based on a recent patient encounter or topic of interest related to critical care or emergency medicine (e.g., RCT, meta-analysis, cohort study)
Articles may also be COVID response related
Each student to send me the article title and brief critical appraisal summary (less than 1 page)

Infections in critically ill patients and appropriate antimicrobial selection (under the VCCR Adult II)
Sepsis and Septic Shock (under the VCCR Adult II link) OR Shock Assessment and Therapy (under the VCCR Pediatric II)
Acid-Base Disorders (under the Adult VCCR II) OR Blood gas analysis (under the VCCR Pediatric I)
Additional topics to complete the 1 – 2 hours per day are by student selection
