walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies; And all that's best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes: Thus mellowed to that tender light Which heaven to gaudy day denies. One shade the more, one ray the less, Had half impaired the nameless grace Which waves in every raven tress, Or softly lightens o'er her face; Where thoughts serenely sweet express, How pure, how dear their dwelling-place. And on that cheek, and o'er that brow, So soft, so calm, yet eloquent, The smiles that win, the tints that glow, But tell of days in goodness spent, A mind at peace with all below, A heart whose love is innocent! The Poet: Lord Byron
He attended Harrow School and Trinity College.
Lord Byron’s first collection of poems,
House of Idleness, where the poems were savagely attacked by critics. Byron replied wit his satire, English Bards and Scotch Reviewers.Byron attended the House of Lords. He was one of the few men in parliament to defend the actions of the Luddites. Byron’s political views influenced the subject matter of his poems. Important examples include Song for the Luddites and the Landlord’s Interest. Slide5
Meaning and Message of the Poem
The message George Gordon is trying to get across is that the woman he is talking about is beautiful in her own way. He says that her dark hair illuminates her pale skin. He is saying how beautiful she is.Slide6

We chose the song ‘You are so Beautiful” By Joe Crocker. This song relates to the poem “She Walks in Beauty” because in the poem Lord Byron describes a beautiful lady he sees at a ball in London. Byron describes the lady as being beautiful like the night. The song also describes a beautiful lady saying she is a guiding light that shines in the night. Both the song and poem describe two perfectly beautiful ladies and much they mean to the writer or singer.
