When all you ever wanted from me was a token of my loveAnd if it's not too lateCould you please find it deep within your heartTo try and go back go back to the startGo back to the start

I've been so evil with my constant invasionsBut you made it so easy for meYou always rise to the occasionI'll always pull you up on every stupid thing that you sayBut I found it so entertainingMessing around with your head

The Penitential Rite

I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

write out and match with an arrow

the explanations that go with the correct part of the prayer.

Summarise these labels in your own words, to explain overall, what the penitential rite is saying.

**Which of these parts do you think is the most important to do? Why?Admitting the

wrong to everyone around you

– so you let go of shame.

Recognise

it to be your fault:

not blaming others.

Ask the saints

for

their

prayers : to pray for you to God to live a better, sin free life.

Admit that you have sinned

in many different ways, not just by actions.Slide5

I've been so evil with my constant invasions

But you made it so easy for meYou always rise to the occasionI'll always pull you up on every stupid thing that you sayBut I found it so entertainingMessing around with your headWhat sort of sins or bad attitudes do you think it is important to be aware of, and ask forgiveness for?Make a mindmap.Slide6

At mass, our sins are forgiven through Jesus’ sacrifice.

But we have to be willing to admit them and really be sorry for them. So the Mass starts with the Penitential Rite, to make us ready to accept God’s love and mercy with a faithful heart. Write an email to explain to a family friend why they should not be late for Mass – why they should not miss the Penitential Rite at the start.**Just before we receive communion, we get another opportunity to say sorry to God., using words a Roman Officer said to Jesus -

Matthew 8:8

. Look it up and write it out. What do we mean when we say it at Mass?Slide7

Write your own version of the Penitential prayer.

Remember the sort of things you might need to say/ ask for in it.Slide8

“This is my blood, poured out for you and for many , for the forgiveness of sins”.

Draw arrow with 3 labels.

Work out which prayers go under which headings. Write

one

next to each box

**Why is Jesus the “Lamb of God”?

There is a kind of movement in the Mass, from

admitting sins

,

to

hoping for God’s

forgiveness

to being forgiven and healed

May

the sacraments we have received be for us a

healing

remedy and bring us to eternal life.

Lamb of God, have mercy on us.

Look

not on our sins

,

but on the faith of your Church.

I confess that I have sinned..

Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but

only say the word, and I

shall be healed....as I eat your body and drink your blood, let it not bring me condemnation, but health in mind and body.

Admit Wrong-doing(Penitential rite)

Hope God will show forgiveness

Receive God’s forgiveness in Jesus
