individuals

Slide2

Rosa Parks was born in America in 1913 and grew up on her grandparents’ farm.

Slide3

When Rosa was a girl black children and white children went to different schools. This was called segregation.

Slide4

On buses white people got the seats first, at the front.

One day in 1955, when she was 41, Rosa refused to give up her seat to a white person.

Slide5

The bus driver called the police and Rosa was arrested.

Slide6

We will not catch this bus!

Some white people and lots of black people refused to use the buses. It was a boycott.

It’s not fair!

The law was changed so anyone could sit in any seat.

Slide7

What Rosa Parks did helped to end segregation in America

.
