Location: The Bristol Motor Speedway
The service project that I have been actively involved with for the past four years is located at the Bristol Motor Speedway in my home town of Bristol, Virginia.
Many know of Bristol because of the Bristol Motor Speedway and come for big NASCAR races every year in the Spring and Fall.Slide3
Volunteer work
Each year, I help volunteer at the Bristol Motor Speedway by helping do inventory for merchandise, setting up booths and by helping sell merchandise to race fans and consumers.
The service project was of great importance for me not only because it helps support the Bristol Motor Speedway and the community of Bristol, Virginia, but also helps out the local schools within the area.
The high school I attended was included in this program, meaning a part of the revenue and funds generated from the selling of this merchandise goes to the schools for various things, including sports and clubs. Slide4
Volunteer Work (Continued)
The Bristol Motor Speedway carries a variety of merchandise that volunteers help inventory, price, stock, sell, etc.
These items range from Bristol Motor Speedway items as well as individual NASCAR drivers’ merchandise.
The items sold include:-
Tshirts
- Stickers
Sweatshirts - Rain gear
Jackets - Seat cushions
Sunscreen - Much more!

Overall, the events of the races that occur every year are a great aspect of the community and provide a great opportunity for many to enjoy and have fun, as well as help and give back to the community and those living in Bristol. Slide6
Giving back
The most rewarding aspect of being able to volunteer in the community for me was helping out my own high school, Virginia High School.
By volunteering, the Bristol Motor Speedway provided a portion of the money they earned to the school which made a huge difference and significance in a particular interest of mine, the girls’ soccer team, as well as many other clubs and sports teams for our school.
Without the funding, a lot of aspects of the team and being able to play would not be possible for the girls.
The project is one that is truly helpful to the people and students of Bristol, as well as the community as a whole.
