If a Public Water System, a treatment design is required for submittal to the state for approval before ANY solution is implemented
If residential, PFAS will PROBABLY need to be addressed when the property transacts. If it is known, PFAS requires disclosure.

Granular Activated Carbon, GAC- tanks in series (lead/lag configuration, sample tap between tanks) when using ADSORBERS to protect against eventual breakthrough of PFAS.**ADSORBERS offer the best use of media because lead/lag allows for full exhaustion of media in the lead tank before a rebed is required. **Lead/Lag - NOT yet in the rules but DES recommends it.

RESIN – Ion Exchange where PFAS sticks to media, POE or POU - NO backwashWhen using both GAC and RESIN, the least expensive media first for the heavy lifting. RESIN cleans up. **We do NOT have field history or experience where this is proven to always be the case. This is a new contaminant to water treatment professionals AND users.
REVERSE OSMOSIS – POU at Kitchen Sink. GAC and RESIN only will remove PFAS. But RO will remove other chemicals that are in or could get into the water.
