Kelly Hicks MSN RNCOB Labor and Delivery Background Caroline is a Caucasian 24yearold G5P4 at 35 weeks gestation with no prenatal care She presented to the emergency department contracting 12 minutes apart reporting rupture of membranes 18 hours ago Upon examination she was 8 cm and 90 effaced with fetal heart tones of 180 . RETINOPATHY OF PREMATURITY DEFINITIONRetinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is an eye disorder affecting premature infants. This disorder was called Retrolental Fibroplasia in the past. ROP affects immature Animal Science. What is Reproduction? . It occurs when organisms multiply, or produce offspring.. Sexual reproduction occurs when a female gamete and a male gamete unite.. Asexual reproduction doesn’t involve gametes. (ex. Simple cell division). The Kentucky Experience. HRSA Regional Infant Mortality Summit January 12-13, 2012. . Preterm Births, Low . A major contributor to retinopathy of prematurity is prolonged exposure to high levels of oxygen. Ineffective weaning of oxygen has caused an increase in the amount of patients diagnosed with retinopathy of prematurity. Guidelines have been established to prevent, screen, and treat retinopathy of prematurity. Two types of treatment are cryosurgery and retinal laser ablation. It is important that units where premature neonates are taken care of incorporate an oxygen-weaning plan to prevent retinopathy of prematurity. Deborah Johnson’s behavioral system model can be applied to NICU nursing. Nursing behaviors can be planned and implemented for these neonates to have the best outcomes. Nurses play a vital role in the prevention of this disease.. 1. Make a Venn Diagram. 2. Asexual Reproduction. Sexual Reproduction. Both. Types of reproduction in living organisms. Pass DNA from parent to offspring. Asexual Reproduction. Requires only one parent. Modern cell theory. Keep in mind that:. All living things are made up of one . or . more cells.. The . cell . is . the basic unit of life.. All cells come from preexisting cells. Just as cells reproduce as part of the Cell Cycle, living organisms reproduce as part of the life cycle.. ch. : 7. Sexual or Asexual. Asexual – involves a single parent organism and produces off-spring or daughter cells that are clones. Sexual Reproduction – involves genetic contribution in the form of gametes from two sources. Chapter 11. W. Stephen Damron. Introduction to Animal Science:.
