Search For Wisdom

by Pastor Fee SolivenProverbs 8:6-11 Sunday Morning May 10, 2015Slide4

Proverbs 8:6-11

6 Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, And from the opening of my lips will come right things; 7 For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. 8 All the words of my mouth are with righteousness; Nothing crooked or perverse is in them. Slide5

9 They are all plain to him who understands, And right to those who find knowledge. 10 Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold; 11 For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her.Slide6

The Lord values the Women of God so much that He has worked out the best possible plan for each of their lives.Slide7

Throughout the Scriptures, the Lord has given Godly mothers, grandmothers and single sisters principles that will make them wise if they’ll live by them.Slide8

1.

Godly Mothers, Grandmothers and Single Sisters Acquire Wisdom by Seeking it as Hidden Treasure.Slide9

Genesis 39:21-23

21 But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him mercy, and He gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison. 22 And the keeper of the prison committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners who were in the prison; whatever they did there, it was his doing. Slide10

Proverbs 2:1-7

1 My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, 2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; 3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Slide11

5 Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God. 6 For the LORD gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; Slide12

2.

They'll Acquire Wisdom by Meditating on God’s Word Slide13

Proverbs 4:10-13

10 Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many. 11 I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. 12 When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble. 13 Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life. Slide14

Proverbs 9:10

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” Slide15

“How do you want me to invest my life today?” Slide16

3.

They'll Acquire Wisdom by Praying Specifically for It  Slide17

James 1:5-8

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. Slide18

7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

 Slide19

“How do You want Me to Respond to this Situation?” Slide20

4.

They'll Acquire Wisdom by Heeding Godly Counsel Slide21

Proverbs 12:15-17

15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But he who heeds counsel is wise. 16 A fool's wrath is known at once, But a prudent man covers shame. 17 He who speaks truth declares righteousness, But a false witness, deceit. Slide22

5.

They'll Acquire Wisdom by Associating with the Wise Slide23

Proverbs 13:20-21

20 He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed. 21 Evil pursues sinners, But to the righteous, good shall be repaid.

 Slide24

2 Corinthians 6:14-18

14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?

 Slide25

16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." 17 Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.”Slide26

18 "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the LORD Almighty." Slide27

6.

They'll Acquire Wisdom as a Gift from God Slide28

Ecclesiastes 2:24-26

(New Century Translation)24 the best that people can do is eat, drink, and enjoy their work. I saw that even this comes from God, 25 because no one can eat or enjoy life without him. Slide29

26 if people please God, God will give them wisdom, knowledge, and joy. But sinners will get only the work of gathering and storing wealth that they will have to give to the ones who please God. So all their work is useless, like chasing the wind.Slide30

Scriptures To Encourage The Women of God!Slide31

Proverbs 14:1

"The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands." Slide32

Proverbs 14:1

(New Century Translation)

" A wise woman strengthens her family, but a foolish woman destroys hers by what she does." Slide33

Proverbs 31:10-12

(New Century Translation)

10 It is hard to find a good wife, because she is worth more than rubies. 11 Her husband trusts her completely. With her, he has everything he needs. 12 She does him good and not harm for as long as she lives.Slide34

Proverbs 31:28-29

(New Century Translation)

28 Her children speak well of her. Her husband also praises her, 29 saying, “There are many fine women, but you are better than all of them.” Slide35

1. Do you routinely live without giving much thought to what God wants to do in your life?

 Slide36

2. What is keeping you from discovering and following the plan God has specifically designed for you?

 Slide37

3. Are you actively seeking wisdom from the Lord or just hoping you’ll acquire it by doing traditional Christian things—like going to church, reading your Bible now and then, and praying when you need help?

 Slide38

4. How can you become more intentional in your pursuit of God’s wisdom?Slide39

5. Are your friends hindering or helping you live wisely? Likewise, are you modeling a godly influence through your lifestyle?

 Slide40

Nehemiah 8:10
