Story Narration:

The story should be presented in a well-organized, logical, and coherent format to demonstrate excellence in presentational writing.

For the highest possible score, it is crucial to use transitional phrases, cohesive devices, and time phrases to show a clear progression of ideas.Slide6

Suggestions:

Organization: First jot down a brief outline with three parts: 1) a beginning sentence, 2) a few key points from the pictures for the body of the story, and 3) an ending sentence.

Coherence: After you write your outline, fill in supporting details for each part of the story. It is essential to use the appropriate transitional phrases and cohesive devices, such as 然后,于是,当… 的时候,一… 就… , etc..You may want to add time phrase, such as 从小,每天 to the opening paragraph. Narration: You should follow the order of the pictures to tell a story. Write it as if you were telling the story to a friend. Giving a name to the characters is often a great idea.Slide7

General Study Tips

Practice taking notes and typing in Chinese

Look for authentic Chinese materials: You should take advantage of the rich resources available all around you, such as Chinese newspapers, magazines, movies, and books, etc…Be consistent and persistent: it is much more effective if you spend a little bit of time on Chinese every day than if you spend a lot of time all in one day, once a week or month.
