COMMITTEE CHARGE Provide the President with a prioritized list for FT faculty requests to inform decision-making regarding the announcements of new faculty positions.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES Represent the interest of the college community. Committee members will make decisions on campus-wide needs and opportunities. Promote fairness and equity in resource allocations Align your decision making with Mission and goals for the college

Key Findings from Draft Environmental Scan  EMPLOYMENT Middle-Skill Jobs: two year degree, certificate, occupational licensing, or apprenticeship Projected employment growth in area, approx. 100,000 new jobs by 2035 Healthcare employs the most workers in Orange County Other key sectors, hospitality, manufacturing, retail trade & administrative and support services sectors. CHANGING NATURE OF WORK Skills gap among new hires, largely due to rapid changes in technology and the growing potential for automation. New workforce needs to understand how to use technology and data, is flexible and adaptable as industries evolve, and has problem-solving skills to help employers stay competitive .EMERGING INDUSTRIESLogistics sector (Transportation & Warehousing)Hospitality (Accommodations & Food Service)IT, Digital Media and Big Data Analytics, Bioscience research, Biopharmaceuticals, and medical device manufacturing, and business and professional services.

CRITERIA & POINTS: 7.25 total points Narrative (70%) – highest score is 5 Each rep will score each request, outside of their division, 1 (low to need/goal) to 5 (high to need/goal) Final score will be total of all scores for the request divided by the number of eligible committee votes Counseling, Librarians & Nursing will have a 1.45 multiplier bc scored on narrative only FTES/# of FT faculty in area (30%) – highest score is 2.25ordered from high to low & broken up into 5ths2.25pts., 1.80 pts., 1.35 pts., 0.90 pts., 0.45pts.(1 FTES= 1 student enrolled in 15 hours for 2 terms)

Questions Submit questions by 9AM, Monday , September 9 via form .

Answers to questions Due by 9AM, Friday, September 13. Compiled and sent out to committee to review during weekend prior to Tuesday, September 17 meeting.

Next meetings Tuesday, September 17, 3-5 PM, AGB 106 – Ranking Tuesday, October 1, 3-5 PM, AGB 106 – Process Review

Discussion of Position Requests & Scoring No more than 3 minutes per position  Scoring guide for the narrative portion will be provided for each position request Scores for the FTES/# of FT Faculty will be presented Scoring will be done electronically and is not anonymous Voting for position within one’s division is not permitted
