GOKb is...a freely available, community-managed data repository that will contain key publication information about electronic resources as it is represented within the supply chain from content publishers to suppliers to libraries.

GOKb Linked Data

Background Linked data is an important way of making GOKb data available to usersNCSU’s Organization Name Linked Data (http://www.lib.ncsu.edu/ld/onld/) served as the seed data for Organizations in GOKb Ongoing discussion about how the rest of the data will be represented

GOKb Draft Linked Data Model

GOKb Draft Linked Data Model

Links To Other Linked Data Sets Library of Congress Linked Data Service- http://id.loc.gov/Virtual International Authority File (VIAF) - http://viaf.org/International Standard Number Identifier (ISNI) - http://www.isni.org/ DBpedia - http://dbpedia.org/ Freebase - http://www.freebase.com/

Identifiers in the GOKb WebApp

SPARQL Endpoint SPARQL is a query language like SQL for RDF dataGOKb will have a SPARQL endpoint that will allow users to query the data

Sample SPARQL Query Example: Find all titles published by Elsevierselect ?titles ?s where { ?s <http://purl.org/dc/terms/publisher> ?o. ?s <http://www.w3.org/2004/02/skos/core#prefLabel> ?titles. ?o <http://www.w3.org/2004/02/skos/core#prefLabel> "Elsevier".} ORDER BY ?titles

Linking To Other Linked Data Sets Using DBpedia DataOrganizations based in the United Kingdom:PREFIX dbpedia-owl: <http://dbpedia.org/ontology/> PREFIX owl: <http://www.w3.org/2002/07/owl#> SELECT ?s ?o WHERE {?s owl:sameAs ?o . FILTER(STRSTARTS(STR(?o), "http://dbpedia.org/")). SERVICE <http://dbpedia.org/sparql> {?o dbpedia-owl:country <http://dbpedia.org/resource/United_Kingdom>.}} limit 100

Going Forward Finalize the data modeling and create documentation for new linked data vocabulary termsEstablishing workflows to add links to other linked data setsUsing an OpenRefine script that automates searches for matching descriptions in VIAF, LC, ISNI, DBpedia, and Freebase As data is added to GOKb, the linked data service becomes a more valuable source of bibliographic linked data
